I appreciate the comments Maxie. Yes, Marcus really did a nice job with selecting the right items to get the sound he was after. I enjoyed the sound of it as a passenger (inside the car it’s really nice) and honestly, it was a little scary when he demonstrated the experience. I was wishing a brake pedal would magically appear on the passenger side so I could slow the car to a stop 😂

Go for it! So far Marcus says he loves the extra growl and there’s mo droning, although you can’t necessarily hear the awesome exhaust sounds while driving. You hear it mostly at startup, take off and sometimes during acceleration.

Very cool to hear you have a Type S as well! I hope you enjoy. It! From what I remember..The Tyoe S has three mufflers. One is in the midway point of the exhaust and the other two are at the end (right before the exhaust tips).Marcus had the mid muffler removed and replaced with a straight pipe that was 2.5 “ in diameter, which was selected by the Maryland Muffler technician named Rocco, then added a resonator from DynoMax, that I believe he purchased from Amazon. By removing the mid muffler, that takes away some of the car’s abilities to quiet down exhaust noise. Then adding the resonator helps amplify the noise a little bit more. This process gives the car a nice growl that sometimes wakes me up in the morning when he cold starts it 🥴😂

The only complaint I have about this exhaust set up is that you can’t really hear it at highway speeds. The sound is mainly on take off and hard acceleration while moving.

What’s up Kiran. From what I remember seeing while under my Crosstour, they’re held on by two small plug/clips. Just use a flat tip screwdriver and pop them out. That’ll remove those flaps.

Hey JD, Rocco at Maryland Muffler said he used a 2.5 pipe for the deleted muffler straight pipe. Hopefully this helps.

I was able to get the 2.5 " pipe from my job and got the resonator in Saturday afternoon and finally got it hooked up today. But for some reason the way your sons tl sounds way different and better then mine and idk why. I used the same resonator and deleted the mid muffler im a lil confused.

@@jdldjaddiaz3705 Rocco told us there’s a break-in period that your exhaust must go through before you realize the true sound. He said it could take a few days so don’t be discouraged. I’m sure it’ll sound better after the break-in period.

It is not raspy at all. The purpose of it is to eliminate the rasp while making the exhaust sound more deep and it does a great job with that.

The closest sounding to what we did in this video that Ive heard is the muffler delete then adding a 2 inch pipe in its place. You will also probably want aftermarket exhaust tips for appearance.

172k now, bought with 168k for 8k. It was super clean and well maintained. Try to find it with a clean service history that would include the timing belt and no oil leaks around the head gasket

The muffler that was deleted was the mid muffler just after the resonator so there was no need to replace the tips as those are connected to the rear mufflers. No check engine light as of yet and based on my research it shouldnt cause a problem with emissions either. I highly recommend getting it done, turns the car into a different kind of monster

Im not too sure about why they call it that but yes… those are still the stock rear mufflers. This mod only deletes the mid muffler and replaces the resonator.

And you want to keep those rear mufflers in. Otherwise drone occurs. I even tried putting mid muffs in place of rear mufflers, like actually getting another one and swapping them. Sounds good, but very slight drone 2-3k rpm that I don’t want.

The Type S has a slightly different tail light than the other TLs. The Type S taillight is factory tinted

The 2004 2005 & 2006 TL’s have the solid red tail lights and the 2007 & 2008 TL’s were updated to the ones you see on Marcus’ car. The 2007 & 2008 TL Type S tail lights are also tinted in addition to being the different style from the 04,05,06 models.

There is no drone 97 percent of the time. when there is at low rpms, all I ever have to do is lift my foot off of the accelerator for a second and then push it again. I Highly recommend getting it done
