A review of three different (but very similar) models of digital thermometer/hygrometers from Acurite. These are indoor thermometers and are available online, at WalMart and at Home Depot.

Wow this video is 7 years old and it’s 2023 now, and I just paid $24.20 at Home Depot for this device. Thanks for the review!!!!

Excellent review! I needed to check my humidity in the winter due to my eyes hurting and itching skin and this was on sale for $9 at walmart. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. I've had one of these things at my workstation (the first one you showed) since approximately 2016 when you made this video. Management put them around the building to see if our complaints of being cold constantly were measurable (They were. 66-68 degrees is too damn cold for sitting at a desk all day. Management still did nothing. haha). When I lost my job to covid in a big layoff last March, they packed all our work stations up "for" us. They put this little guage in with my stuff. Gee thanks! So I've been using it at home ever since. I got curious about it today when my humidity was very low, and I put a pot on the stove for a few hours, then watched the humidity go up on this unit to a comfortable reading. I never really looked closely at it before, just read temp & humidity. This was the first time I noticed the little indicator for trending readings, and the "ok/high/low" house icon. Got to wondering how accurate it was, so I've been reading reviews where people set them side by side with other models, and then stumbled upon your video. I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed that they all seem to stay within 2-3 degrees of each other. I've had this thing for four years now, and I can't recall EVER replacing the regular AA battery in it. Not bad.

For the price, these are great. I have 3 and they all agreed with each other when I tested them. Nice review Gr....Elmer!

Good review. Thank you. I dont trust most reviews on Amazon anymore. Too many issues with false reviews. Glad I found your video.

Ever since I found about atomic clocks from you I have been on the hunt for them. In Romania you can barely find them. Now I am in Germany and it is radiocontroled clock heaven here. I would not be surprised if the toasters here are radiocontroled :). I recently aquired 3 radio controled units and they satisfy my atomic needs... For the moment :). I want to thank you for opening this experience of precise timekeeping and hope to see more videos from you in the future.Best regards!

You are so right. The little black and silver one(s) are in EVERY stringed musical instrument case in my family, because they are so small and so very accurate, to check that the humidity control packs are keeping them at the critical 45%; will save hundreds of dollars and thousands of tears in cracked wood.

You have got to be kidding lol buy better instruments and this should be a none issue.

Thanks for your recommendation! I have these, but they tend to be not durable and accurate, defeating the point of a hygrometer. I am using inkbird’s new product IBS-TH5 this year, a sensor with WiFi from Switzerland, a real hygrometer. Yes, this is my recommendation.

+Brebeanu Alex Catalin I've had a bit of a cold recently. Almost well enough to be on camera again. I would like to review an "atomic clock" that is currently available at WalMart for about $20 and I thought it was very nice.

I bought 4 of them. It’s accuracy is +/- 22%. If you’re looking for accuracy these aren’t for you. My 4 sitting on the same shelf read 2@55%, 1@47% and 1@43%. Which one is right. Look at the accuracy at the 4 sitting on his table. He has 1@31% and 1@64%.

They probably hadn't been sitting side by side long enough to adjust. He said he keeps them in different locations in and around his house. The ones I've seen that were left side by side over night all agreed within a 1 or 2 degrees.

True. These things are junk. I bought a base unit with a remote. Kept them next to each other, they were not the same readings. Acurite is JUNK.

Bought One and The Temp is 2 Degrees Higher than it should be! how can I adjust it? Or just Return it?
@GoodTimekeeper6 жыл бұрын
I don't know of any way to calibrate the temperate readout. I bought several of these and they all seem to agree with each other within 1 degree. I would guess that +/- 2 degrees is probably within the expected accuracy range of something this cheap. But I haven't tried to compare them to what I would consider to be some kind of scientific standard, high-end thermometer.

Is it really "too humid for comfort" or is it really "too humid to prevent mold growth?"

@GoodTimekeeper7 жыл бұрын
I've read some reviews online in which people mentioned putting the thing in a bad full of salt in order to reset the sensor. But, as you might guess, the official owners manual doesn't say anything about that.
