update: So I use Mastering compressor (secret LoL) --> AA Pumpkin PRo --> AA JAM --> Mastering EQ (secret LoL) --> transparent Limiter (e.g. sonible smart:Limit)....now my music sounds like it's been mastered by Katy Perry and Taylor Swift's ME/audio engineers. Now I feel like I'm signed to a major just from using two saturators by AA together! Wowwwww!

@@69yaw69 Yeap! Duly noted! I have experimented with that last n ight, and it "throws" this "smooth background of dithering noise" "behind" the music if that were to make sense. Very ADDA-ish. I'm lovin' it #Bah-bha-bha-bahhhh #mcdonalds

On my MacBookpro late 2013 i just tried 10 tracks with pumpkin and no problems. Must something todo with your computer if you get such high performance problems with pumpkin

@@Yishinyourear if you and I formed a group together, you and I would be the reboot of 95's SOLO: 2 bruthas, 2 AA saturation plugins and a bass. So when it comes to the plugin chain, "whereeeeeeee-airr! do you want me to put it? where do you want me - to get my mix right?"

I"m so sorry for flooding your comment section, but I got "so much to say" like I'm Claude McKnight of Take 6 in this piece. Jajajajajajaja. I like my sh*t to be bright without dissonance, and every (and I mean every) video I have seen here on KZbin demo'ing this plugin has NOT demostrated how the HF POST (Right above the Hi-Shelf filter knob) SHOULD BE almost at the top for the analog brightness that I hear on modern records. That is the secret sauce to this plugin. It drives me nuts how people don't like it that bright although no hi hats are clashing at that brightness.
@TheReal_E.IRIZARRY

...just like AA JAM...the secret sauce is in the lower part of the interface in the PreAmp section to crank that HI up to at least 8.5 dB of analog brightness. That with AA Pumpkin Pro's brightness gives me that sound I hear on 16 bit/48kHz CD and 24/48and 24/96 DVD audio sample rez.

What hardware is Pumpkin based off of?
@Yishinyourear
@Yishinyourear Жыл бұрын
None. But the curves are from their various other products. There is no preamp color either, so it's quite static, unlike Jam.

According to the unofficial acustica plugin list, this emulates Overstayer MAS, REDD47, Vertigo VSM, etc... It emulates multiple hardware saturations. In my opinion, PUMPKIN PRO has the advantage of versatility in compression curve adjustment and as a clean clipping saturator in audio mastering situations. The oversampling Anti-Aliasing (AA) mode is impressive.

But after trying Jam, which does have the preamps, Jam will give you the analog color with the saturation and is more bad ass than Pumpkin Pro IMHO

@@Yishinyourear This is an answer from Acustica audio on gearspace. Essentially, Jam is more oriented towards emulating a device, which includes emulating the preamplifier and, most importantly, emulating a dynamic strategy in approaching saturation. That's why Jam is more closely tied to the original machines. Pumpkin, on the other hand, is a completely different beast. Its aim is to achieve static distortion, essentially wave-shaping, but in the best possible way, with a state-of-the-art anti-aliasing algorithm that allows for levels of cleanliness and precision previously unattainable. Additionally, with Pumpkin, it's possible to independently modulate the distortion in the positive and negative half-waves, have two stages of distortion, and the graphical interface allows for easy visual feedback on what's happening. This contrasts with Jam, where the feedback was limited to simple meters, much like in a physical machine. Implementing Pumpkin's new metering system in a product like Jam would be out of place, just as it would be on the original hardware machines, where all you have at most is a VU meter or sometimes no visual feedback at all. Regarding the sound, they do slightly different things. Pumpkin operates in a territory where almost experimental distortion is possible, achieving extreme distortion with significant cleanliness, and it's also based on the concept of equalizer emphasis-de-emphasis. In short, there's an entire equalizer, similar to what you might find in a complete salt, which allows for emphasis-de-emphasis before entering the distortion circuit. For instance, if one needs to replicate Tube-like machines, it makes sense to boost high frequencies with the Pre control, and what happens is similar to what occurs in a tube machine. Counterintuitively, when high frequencies are boosted, they are actually reduced because the distortion comes into play sooner, thus compressing the high frequency part faster than the low.
