To provide a point of reference, I easily "record 50+ vocal tracks", and to have to add Autotune, and a mic emulation after the fact is a waste of time "for me". Also as of late I'm in an untreated room so ive had the need to use dereverb and noise reduction going in...50+ tracks with 4 heavy plugins....nah, i get these corrected coming in and move on to working the record as i should, as for the latency issue, once ive dialed in the settings for the plugins, i monitor the raw audio from the interface "latency free", as Ive stated in the video.

I did it since version 6 to record my karaoke session that need reverb and compressor on my mic. You just need to activate "record monitoring option" (small speaker icon) if You want recording while You use FX on it and record the fx too.

Record with effects(InputFx) has been there for a while. What we are touching on in this video incorporates the loopback with the input fx, allowing you to have one vocal chain that can be recorded on any additional channels without further setup.

Thanks for this. it's a big help. question why dont you need to hear the processing while recording ? is it a preference or latency thing? Asking cause I want to hear it to make sure its not doing something I dont like
@Yishinyourear22 күн бұрын
I'm using, texture and correction plugins for the most part light autotune, acustica preamps, waves noise and room reduction. I've dialed it in so many times that it always comes out correct. Besides, 3 out of 4 of the plugs are heavy on the latency anyway.

It really does come down to power. Like yourself, I finally have the simul-sync PC setup that I want between 2 really powerful Win 11 systems. Eventually I do hear some latency but only after about adding 40 of 50 vst fx and instruments over any number of tracks.

Surely, you could always 'record output' of the effected channel

Sorry but this is a feature that there is since a long while ago (version 7.xx today we are 7.24 ... it seems you discovered it a bit in late 😊). You need to enable it in PREFERENCES. EDIT: I shoudl say it's present form 6.69 but in the 7.00 it was more clearly implemented

Yep, I stated my lateness in the description.

@@Yishinyourear yep but unfortunately as you know, only the 10 % (perhaps) of the viewers go to the description to read corrections. In the pinned comment there is not any mention as well. So the wrong information passed almost undisturbed.

What's wrong with InputFX doing same thing?
@YishinyourearАй бұрын
The input fx only work on the channel they are assigned to. To get the same workflow I've demonstrated, you would have to copy the effects chain to every new track (This can kill creative flow and bloat the project). I can end up recording 50+ vocal tracks doing harmonies, adlibs, chorus etc., instead: 1 Vocal Chain...Many Tracks.
@BojanBojovic28 күн бұрын
This was possible before with a little bit different routing.
@Yishinyourear28 күн бұрын
Please expand. I tried quite a few options years ago. The only solution I had was a separate vst host program that could act as the vocal chain that piped audio in and out through reroute.

@@Yishinyourear Set a track with all your plugins, make sends from that track to all other tracks and set them to record output. But not sure what this brings compared to two types of take recordings in Reaper.

I covered that way in the video.

The reason why people don’t do this on a DAW is because it causes latency. So you’re recording is not going to be in time with the DAW clock With external hardware you don’t have this issue. You can hear the latency when you turn the microphone on in your video
@YishinyourearАй бұрын
Yep, that's why I monitor the raw input while recording (0 latency).

Why would you go back to making everything harder on yourself? I used to have to bake in the de-noising, de-clicking, compression and EQ into my digital tracks because my one-core 400 MHz CPU just would not handle all of this while mixing. The same goes for using just one FX bus for multiple tracks, because... processing power. And I celebrated the moment that my PC was finally fast enough to handle individual real time insert plugins _per channel._ Why would I want to throw _that_ away??

So a guitar player who comes in with their own pedals and amps should only do their processing after the dry signal is recorded and UAD users shouldn't record through the unison preamps and other effects at their choosing?

@@Yishinyourear you could record a clean di signal as a backup/for reamping anyways ...
