I feel channels like this are really ahead of their time. The depth of research, an aesthetically pleasing final product, combined with the positive response from the community tells me this guy has obviously zeroed in on a teaching method that really connects with viewers. Off the top of my head, as far as KZbin goes only the American Battlefield Trust is truly embracing this type of teaching style when it comes to civil war battles, but I think videos like these will start to become a lot more common as time goes on. Many other historical videos have a great amount of research going for them, but they lack that special connection with a casual viewer. (EDIT: I believe Have History Will Travel is another KZbinr who also follows this style, so they deserve a mention as well)

I will never get over how McClellan was so close and how much it cost Grant late in the war to get there again because McClellan lost his nerve. Even at Malvern hill despite the victory, he still just .. gave up. Aarfghh

McClellan and Grant though different themselves in how they commanded, also faced different opponents. McClellan, even with his behavior of overestimation, faced Joe Johnston who wanted to make sure everything was perfect before committing his troops. Whereas, Grant faced Lee, in his prime was an audacious commander who was ready to take any and all risk present.

@@WarhawkYT If I'd of been in the Civil War, I'd of fought for the Union, and, if I could've had my choice as to which Commander to serve under, it'd of been General Grant-100%! I personally wouldn't give you two cents for General McClellan. This guy was way too cautious, and he only seemed content to let the Civil War drag on, almost interminably! @@WarhawkYT in a way I think the two sets of foes were matched up to the advantage of one side and later the other. McClellan is looking for that big giant singular smashing victory and Johnston happened to be the one general in the Confederate ranks whose particular strength was avoiding giving the enemy that kind of opportunity. So the Confederates had an advantage there. Later we flip it when Lee's audacity and aggressiveness runs into Grant's equal measure of aggressiveness and lack of willingness to back down which had won Lee so many victories against lesser generals. Advantage Union.

@@carywest9256 I know the creek you're talking about, althought I have no more chance of spelling it than I do of flapping my arm and flying to the moon.
