I started this adventure as a player but we didn't end up finishing it. I don't think the DM had as good a grasp on it as he should have and we got bored. Owning it now I would love to DM because I have a bit of background in Central American and South American culture from my Spanish studies in high school and college. I got to meet Jeff Leason this past autumn at the TSR museum and he is a great guy. He had some of the best stories about the early days of the company. If you are ever able to make it to the states I can't recommend highly enough making a visit.

Thanks for the vote of confidence :) The reason I started doing these was the lack of reviews of old adventures on youtube that were an easily digestible size - I'm trying to keep them accessible by being around 10-12 minutes where possible.

Played Tamochan with a DM as a tournament module running all three characters as I was the only one who showed up that night. Have a warm fuzzy feel for it , and always loved getting the fireball scroll off at the right place. I have always wanted to play half elf MU/T since. Loved the pictures provided. I made it to the stairs with two live characters when I ran out of time. Not sure I would have gotten much further. Ran it as DM a few years back ion a similar situation with one interested player. It was fun. I think I'd like to run this with a group from the top down though it probably doesn't work as well. From the top I'd have the poison getting filtered out with perhaps only a few rooms at the bottom with the poison in it.

I've recently been running this with a hyperlight ruleset of my own - huge fan of the early contest modules! I've enjoyed hearing your thoughts here :)

'Rules lite' is the best way to play this type of module, players get more creative when there are fewer mechanics to think about.

Nice review as always! I have a long history with this module. Way back in 1980 during my first or second game, my DM had a copy of this adventure in his backpack. I remember looking at the book of illustrations in awe. More recently I have run the 5e version of the adventure as well as the AD&D version. I've converted the adventure for the Neverwinters Nights 1 and Neverwinternights 2 PC games and I have digital maps at DMsGuild. I have maps and 5e conversions for a few adventures you've covered. I'd be happy to shoot you a copy of these maps and conversions if you are interested as thanks for the excellent videos. I'd need an e-mail address to do this. No pressure of course. Thanks for the offer Ernie. A year or 2 ago I'd have said 'fire them over' but try as I might - and I've given it a LOT of chances - my enthusiasm for 5E is pretty much spent, so I doubt I'd ever get to use them.. Just out of interest though, which modules have you converted? I did my own versions of L2, X2, X4 and X5 when 5E 1st came out, but never did digital versions of them...

The original cover looks better than the dark brown one, in my opinion. But it may be because I bought the 1st edition.
