Absolutely beautiful work of art I never knew something so complicated could come from a Pluto

Well the Pluto is a SDR containing a full ARM Cortex-A9 running Linux. ^^ I am still stuned by the price.

Since the RX IF is relatively low frequency, you could buy or build an RF power limiter to replace the 20dB attenuator. This would help optimise the RX noise figure. Although it would be worth doing a noise figure calculation for the system to ensure that the improvement would actually be worth the effort. Alternatively, if you were feeling really adventurous, you may be able to remove and bypass the last IF amplifier stage in the LNB. That way you could more closely match the maximum output power of the LNB with the maximum input specification of the Pluto. This is probably the best solution for optimal noise figure and largest dynamic range. Great work, and thank you again for sharing this with us all!

Thanks for the comment @Alex Scarbro, very interesting indeed. Not sure if anyone else has done that before. The signal that you can see in my videos is highly attenuated because 10GHz doesnt like trees and leaves, but I'm sure when I go portable with a direct line of sight I will be seeing a HUGE leap in SNR. Time will tell I guess, just need to be allowed out by the government to do these tests. Thanks for watching ;-)

Absolutely, and that’s something I forgot to mention in the video. I will be shielding the amp and using Ferrite rings on the cables. Definitely advisable with everything compact and so close together. Amsat UK sell these amps.

Is the 20db attenuator is really usefull ?
@TechMindsOfficial4 жыл бұрын
It protects the front end of the Pluto as the signal from the LNB is extremely strong.

todo ese equipo tienes que ponerlo en la misma antena, tienes que hacer un transceptor para ponerlo en la misma parabolica y te comunicas con el por ethernet.

A previous build of yours was based on a LimeSDR. Now you changed to Pluto. Only because you could replace the OCXO with a more accurate one or are there any other reasons? Really looking forward to your field test 👍
@TechMindsOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Yes, mainly because the TCXO was easy to replace, but one other reason is that the Pluto can use Ethernet over long distances. I didn’t get good results with long USB cables with the LimeSDR Mini.

The ImmersionRC is rated at +30dBm but you have it showing 37.36dBm ?? Is there an offset ?

Yep, I’m using an external 10dbm attenuator so I entered that offset into the RF meter.

Great Video, trying the Same Setup. Is it Not neccesary to switch the PA with a PTT Signal? 73 DG6UAX
@TechMindsOfficial4 жыл бұрын
The amp in the video is okay to be ran with constant PTT, but you can modify Pluto to provide a PTT if required. I now use the new SG Labs amp which had RF switching for PTT built in.

Thank you for the great videos, please can you post one on connecting the pluto to ethernet.
@lukasblenk36843 жыл бұрын
What i can highly recommand: get two fiber optics converters for ethernet this helps isolating your network card / switches from lightning. I folowed this instructions to setup my pluto: oe7wpa.com/index.php/projekte/elektronik/datv/qo-100-mit-dem-adalm-pluto/qo-100-datv-betrieb-mit-obs-und-pluto-sdr-mit-custom-firmware . I also plan on modifying it to have an external clocksource wich will be generated by a GPS Discipined OCXO. Wich will should give enough stability to tx DVB-S.
