I can't believe 10 years has gone by since Gene's death. There are very few pioneers in the music industry and he was one of them. I can only imagine the music that was left to be made if he had lived. You are missed, Gene.

Gut wrenching. This song had an incredible impact on me when I first heard it. I used to love to crank it up really loud at the end and listen to the crackling tubes. Amazing. Miss you Gene.

Gene (Adam) was a hunted, righteous man. I can relate. The enemy is relentless. We must learn to fight this hellish war in the full armor of God. Ephesians 6:10-20.

How is it possible to dislike this song? Just contrary people out there, I guess. This song is a work of art, whether you understood what happened to Gene or not.

É uma lástima não podermos mais nos deliciar com o canto de Eugene Gene, muito belo, por sinal. A música de Adam Again realmente é chei de mistério.

This voice is the twin of Michael Stipe!!!!!!! His rockabilly and rootsy, down to earth sound seems totally like REM, too!!! Awesome song, very well played!!! Who wrote River of Fire???

To assume Eugene is a Stipe clone is really off. This style of singing was popular and common in the 80's. They couldn't be more different though. Gene Eugene was lower in his register and a brilliant songwriter that only comes along once in a while. The band Adam Again, was an ever-evolving band that changed sound often and branched out as with every record. I was a fan of REM but to compare the two is like comparing Yani with Jeff Beck.

@Coopersmith1000 yeah it was often mentioned that he sounded like Michael Stipe. This used to confuse a lot of people.

Yeah. One thing I really want to ask God face to face is what was the purpose of Gene Eugene leaving so soon. I don't get it. I never will.

Is this a tribute video to Gene or is it an official Adam Again video?

Definitely a Gene Eugene tribute video, but the vocal on the song is his. The montage features rare home movies of the artist, as well as some of the final moments of his career. The 90's and early 2000's Christian rock scenes owe a great debt of gratitude towards his legacy.

Rawk4Life greatful to have stumbled across this video. Gene's last project was an album for a band I was playing in. He died as we were finishing it. I think of him often, and memories of the Green Room are beginning to fade. I don't have any pictures from back then, but this video helps rekindle the memories. Gene was one of the good ones.

What was the name of the band? I don't recall there being many bands that he produced for in the 90's that I haven't heard of.

Rawk4Life the band was the Deluxtone Rockets. The last album was called Green Room Blues in memory or Gene and also Dennis Dannel who also was involved in the recording and passed away a few weeks prior to Gene.

Oh WOW! I never knew that DR"s second album title was in memory of Gene, but it definitely makes sense. I saw them perform in February 1999 for The Insyderz' Fight of My Life tour, which also included Bleach, K2S, and Squad 5-0. Excellent show to say the least. I didn't have any CD's for any of the bands to sign, so I had them pass around my Kansas City Chiefs coat to sign instead lol.

In a way yes. R.E.M. was a band beginning in 1980, and Adam Again started in 1982. Both were very prolific and influential to modern alternative.
