Satan’s (or the serpent’s) first action ever is actually to lie, since he asks if God “really” said that the fruit was evil. Well it is, because it introduces the first ever time people begin to distance from God, wherein they experience shame and guilt, foolishly hiding from an all knowing power not out of ignorance but out of embarrassment and fear, which was never in the garden until they ate the fruit. So it’s not that evil just came around, but that people began to separate from God as a result of false beliefs about themselves and God. Love this series so far it’s hilarious, please do more.

Don't usually comment, but as a Christian that's been ordained, this is great! Please do more of this! I'm sure some others may find this offensive, but I feel some Christians take themselves too seriously. Nothing wrong with making jokes about the scripture, I feel it may even help remember the words better. I do hope you at least finish Genesis. Fair warning, Exodus (the book after Genesis) gets quite repetitive, so it may be best to do multiple parts of it in one go (for the sake of entertainment purposes, at least. I do hope you at least read it all and try to take it seriously when you're just reading it before thinking of how to turn it into content).

Tldr this good. me like. i hope you finish the whole thing, im a Christian and i know there will be that group that get upset, but as I just started my own read through of the bible its nice to have some humor injected into the readings to help me remember things alittle more vividly. Plus its good to hear other peoples view even if they dont believe.

It actually did become a Tom and Jerry thing after Satan was kicked out of heaven after rebelling/making war (and creating evil) because the now fallen angel didn't want anything to do with humans-especially to love and help us (Satan thought he/it was above everything at this point) so Satan was watching from afar and decided to ruin the first humans due to it/he was kicked out of heaven with the rest of the fallen angels that followed it/him. As a result and as revenge, Satan ruined the original snake with legs design after it/he either possessed or transformed into the snake and told Eve to disobey God so the newly created snake with legs had to suffer too because of Satan. I'm a Christian and I need MORE of the bible with jokes. Good laughs to start off the new year.

"Satan" is Hebrew for adversary and there are many different individuals that act as "satan" or adversaries throughout the bible. The fallen angel story is from works outside of the bible such as the kabbalah or John Milton's "paradise lost." The serpent was a likely a regular snake that was acting as the "satan" or adversary within the garden of eden hence why snakes in general were cursed

@chrisjeter6442 I thought Paradise Lost was loosely based off the Biblical history, I'm not exactly sure since didn't read it? I only heard Satan was neutral or wanted to help humans or something like that in Paradise Lost where as in real life, the devil/Lucifer/Satan/whatever-the-devil-is-actually-called was too arrogant to help humans thinking, as one of God's highest angels, it/he didn't need to serve humans so it/he grew proud thinking angels were above everything in creation. '"Why should we love and help lower creations such as 'humans'? Even the planets are beneath us. We were created first.,"' the fallen angel thought so it/he rebelled against God's loving command to love humans as one of God's family where as the other angels who still stood with God, like Archangel Michael for example, didn't mind loving humans because angels were God's loving creation too. Satan however didn't comply to that fact, started a war with God and the other good angels in heaven, got kicked out with it's/his fallen angels and as a result and as a act of hurting revenge, decided to ruin the start of humanity plus the snake's original image on top of it by becoming the snake somehow. So by becoming the snake somehow, the fallen angel's evil that it/he created had tainted the humble snake's original image.

@@jeannepucelle All of that is from paradise lost which is a fictional interpretation of the story of Azazel from the kabbalah which was gnostic or written by pharisees who jesus was always condemning for adding false stories to the writings of the prophets such as Daniel and Isaiah. The name Lucifer is based on the Roman God phosphorus who doesn't appear in the Bible at all. Satans or adversaries are many different individuals who are in opposition to god throughout the bible.

@@jeannepucelle Paradise Lost is based off of Biblical history, but it isn't "canon". Satan was not neutral/wanted to help humans, he wanted to screw them over because he was jealous of them. The war between God (and the Angels) VS. Satan (and the other Fallen) was caused by God announcing his intent to have His Son rule over the other Angels (Satan and the other Fallen Angels being just Angels at this time, so they would have to obey The Son as well) because he believes that he is at least equal to The Son, so he shouldn't have to obey Him. Satan then leaves Hell to the other Fallen Angels, finds Adam and Eve, becomes overwhelmed with sadness after realizing he will never be loved by God as they are any more, and decides to take revenge against God by ruining his latest creation. Satan just decided to disguise himself as a snake, he didn't specifically choose it to ruin it or anything, I believe he just thought it would be the best animal to hide in The Garden as until the right moment. He could transform because high ranking angels could, and he used to be one. (I actually read Paradise Lost).

As a Biblical Studies major, this is very entertaining to listen to. Also broseph, if you want an easier time, read the ESV. It's way more digestible and it's more accurate to the original manuscripts. Way more manuscripts have been found since the KJV, and ESV really tries to be faithful word for word translation.
