I agree with that. Punk use to be about not giving a fuck about who the music offended it was raw so were the lyrics never polished, now it's about another pop punk badge. Even the whole ethos of not allowing the woo to be pulled over your eyes and fighting for your beliefs against authority and bureaucratic systems has flown out of the window Now it is all comply with the system know your place and use punk as a badge of fashion not freedom from oppression,at least that was why it hit the UK

The Antz at their best before the crappy pirate stage

i love this version of the Ants but the Kings era was brilliant too - and you punks thought so too for the first 6-9 months of Ants mk2. If the Ants had made it big with Decca in 1978 old punks like you would be slagging this off and and calling Matthew Ashman "that horrid snotty kid who thought he was Mick Ronson" (or somesuch) and yearning for the good old days of Johnny Bivouac and Jordan "before Adam started wearing silly kilts and singing silly jazz songs like Young Parisians" (or somesuch).

@@kurtvanderbogarde8402 I was at the Electric Ballroom for the Antz MKII, believe one of their first gigs as this line up and yes they were good, but going into all that jolly roger rubbish ruined them
@kurtvanderbogarde84023 жыл бұрын
@@Robcfc-bs4vd By the time of the Ants Invasion tour they already had Jolly Roger (and all the Kings album except Dog, plus at least two PC album songs) down on demo tape.

@@Robcfc-bs4vd The 'Kings' era was what ignited my interest in music aged 16, an absolutely visceral response, & if you actually listen to the record instead of being hung up on the image it's still sounds incredible. He was always into dressing up anyway.

@@wirewehear7254 I’m obviously a little older than you, and no I’m not hung up on image. I have nothing against what he did during his pirate/ new romantic stage but still prefer is older stuff, as they say each to their own. BTW I do have the second album on my iPod and do listen to it from time to time
