Thanks for the breakdown Jef, sincerely appreciated. I was on the fence about what monitors to purchase next, but this video put me over to the T8V's. When I purchase them, I will use the link you provided in the description so you hopefully get a kickback from Sweetwater. Also, I really like all your other videos (namely the ones focused on Maschine, I just don't comment much because I generally watch them on my TV.

The other thing I like about them is that when I properly placed them, I hear the sound as if it's in front of me. I can really hear what's mixed to left and what's mixed to the right. But I've never been that consciously aware of the center as I am with these t8v's. Like you, I've been listening through my Yamaha HS5's forever and I'm used to the in your face punch but the t8v's are different, more subtle. It's a higher space of listening. I can only imagine what the $2,500 Adams sound like... Oh and thanks for the Noir video! Much, much needed. Spoke to the Sonokinetic folks. They're going to produce more simplified videos because they assume everyone buying their products are familiar with how to use them.

In terms of accuracy I don't think it gets more bang for buck than Adams. I had the same experience with finding distortion in vocal tracks, etc. I had krks, tannoy, alesis Yamaha... They all pale in comparison almost like toys. Absolutely love the Adam sound. You mix on those and it translates well to almost anything. I have Adam F7s and a sub7, t8v is coming next week. I have purchased some t7v's last year and the big big problem that i found is that they dont have punch, they sound hollow on the low mids and mids in general the low end too bummy, to me was impossible too mix a song on them... Produce music on than was realy hard and i really try ,my studio is very well treatead. I think the real problem is that the Amp on the T7V's is too weak for their size seeing that they use exactly the same amp on the T5V'S
@martymarl46024 жыл бұрын

I'm currently using Old Version Mackie. HR824's. The low and low - mids are great, but the mid high's are not very detailed, and everything sound darker overall. How do these compare to the AH8"s? @Jef, I have listened to the T5V and T7V. Do you have insight how Adam Audio is differentiating the T8V from the T7V (other than size)? Personally, the T7V was a bit too boomy for my small room studio.
@jefgibbons4 жыл бұрын
They go lower, and they are louder than the others. Other than that they are very similar! I didn't;t mention the controls on the back to reduce/boost low frequencies or high frequencies, so you can tailor it a bit to your room. I had some t7’s in my cart a few times, but with a small space I was really concerned with the rear bass port being too close to the wall. Heard lots of accounts on both side as to weather it was a real concern or not, ended up buying the Kali IN-8’a instead. Front firing, with great room EQ options. Eventually I’d love to try the Adam Ax8’s though - been a fan of Adam for a long time, the Kali’s are amazing in my space though :)

The very good tweeter of the T8V does not seem to be ideally combined with the PP woofer, I notice especially with vocals.

Controls on the back panel are real basic. Not sure if this thing has an auto power daving / auto off feature, and if it does, can it be defeated, i.e. switched off? Also, Adam Audio had somehow "forgot" to include a 1/4-inch TRS balanced input jack. How weird is that -- considering that 99% of the studio monitor controllers use 1/4-inch TRS and not XLR. So you could not even connect the T8V to the Mackie Big Knob with a standard TRS to TRS balanced cable, so disappoining. Whatever. I guess that is all that USD $300 "budget" will buy you these days.
@rich_in_paradise4 жыл бұрын
I've wanted to upgrade to some Adam monitors for a while so when I saw these come up they looked very tempting: great bass response for a small monitor and the price is definitely right. However, they're rear ported which pretty much rules them out for small rooms as you really need to leave a metre between the back of the speaker and any walls or other hard surfaces to avoid booming at the low end. Shame - I wish they could have made them a bit larger physically and front-ported them, but I guess I'll get another model.
@jefgibbons4 жыл бұрын
