Excellent response and follow up dressing down. Sadly however, this is very unlikely to get a run on MSM.

It looks as though this clip-retort is getting a run on Channel 10, ABC and SBS. Better than expected. Albeit, it seems Channel 10 have given it their usual negative spin - I feel. Making it look bad for Bandt.

Do it! Give that determination! Stick it in the land and say 'that's what I care about' and bring the whole community together! All it takes is one person to start, and you're a part of the chain reaction. Are the exclamation marks inciting enough? !!! Australia has so much potential, so what do want it to be? It is possible now to preserve the Land (so important on a universal scale) and raise humans' standards in coexistence -- we just have to put the effort in and make it a movement. It is great to question, especially status quos and one's own reasoning, and to be able to examine and explore the subjects on multiple levels (education system should have a role here)... Etc., etc., tl/dr do good human stuff.

Outstanding answer Adam! You got the trivial ‘gotcha’ question with an excellent ‘gotcha’ answer with real substance and hope for disillusioned voters. Student debt is a disgrace and is one the pillars supporting the widening bridge between the rich and poor. And you can thank Labor’s hero, Bob Hawke for this! No wonder Hawke is a hero amongst some of the Coalition as well! Please take the ground abandoned by labor - representation of the workers, unemployed, homeless and student poverty. Australia should have a similar standard of living to Nordic countries, but the unfair US style of capitalism unfairly favoring the rich is robbing the common people of their basic right to equal opportunity.
@betula2137
@betula2137 2 жыл бұрын
Australia has been lagging behind those always-top-class Nordics for too long! We can have their wellfair and our fairdinkum with great power and influence -- plenty of opportunities in our region alone. A Pacific Union could be a part of Australia's growing importance and identity.
@uberboiz
@uberboiz 2 жыл бұрын
The personal tax rates and consumption taxes in most Nordic countries are comparatively higher than in the US and Australia, that's how they fund their social welfare. On the flip side, their corporate tax rates are generally lower than that in Australia e.g. Sweden's corporate tax rate is only 20.6% compared to 30% in Australia. Would you be happy if the Australian government (whichever party is in charge) take more from your pocket than from corporations to fund a 'similar standard of living to Nordic countries'? 🤷‍♂
@krisjustin3884
@krisjustin3884 2 жыл бұрын
@@uberboiz Yes. You get what you pay for. I’d pay extra for free dental, free universities, better treatment of homeless people and proper prison reform that reduces the crime rate. Lower corporate taxes encourages development and more employment opportunities. It’s rewarding the goose for laying the golden eggs and remember it’s a smaller percentage, but of much greater sums than the common person would earn.
@uberboiz
@uberboiz 2 жыл бұрын
@@krisjustin3884 "You get what you pay for" - that's exactly my point. If you have to pay for "free" dental / universities / other things you mentioned above, then by definition it's not free. One supposedly noble individual like you may be willing to pay for it while others enjoy the benefit without necessarily making their contributions - some people may see that as 'equal opportunity' (rightly or wrongly), others would call it 'socialism'. If lower corporate taxes encourage development, why were the majority of the most valuable and/or innovative companies in the past few decades conceived in the US (a free market capitalist country where until recently had a corporate tax rate as high as 35%) instead of from the Nordic countries?
@krisjustin3884
@krisjustin3884 2 жыл бұрын
@@uberboiz You made a couple of good points that I can respond to. Yes, I would throw some krona or dollars into a homeless person’s hat, but when it’s shared over the whole population it’s far cheaper for everyone. Yes, I agree extra tax is paying for dentals etc., but when the income gap goes too extreme with extreme capitalization, you’ll end up paying more with civil unrest and instability. Free education, including university is especially essential to counter this. As for which companies are the most valuable/innovative, there are other factors besides taxation. For instance, for companies that want to stay local and provide opportunities for locals, there will be less global value added and as you say less innovation, but the local population will reap more benefits and be a worthwhile opportunity cost against overall value. Lower taxation may be a good incentive to keep the jobs and money at home.

The great thing about our preferential voting system is that you can vote Greens 1 and then vote however you normally would after and, as long as you put your least favourite last and preferred parties towards the top, your vote won’t go to waste. Best case scenario you get a greens MP or senator in. Worst case scenario, your vote goes back to whatever other party you normally vote for and you’ve also sent a message that the policies the Greens are fighting for like Dental and Mental into Medicare are policies voters actually want and need. :)

I wish more people would hear this. The Greens cop so much slack in the media. Yet, their vision & ambition is to improve the health & wellbeing of all Australians.

I've been voting Greens since the Australian Democrats burned out - because while their policies are "green", they're also genuinely about the public welfare and sensible use of technology. Let's not go into what the Coalition is all about; it's impolite to speak badly of the dead...

LOL. I hope you are not serious. Adam Bandt is a sanctimonious hypocrite. He persistently spews out his hypocritic rhetoric. Answer this. Why, in 2022, did Adam Bandt charge Australian taxpayers 23 THOUSAND DOLLARS to take two flights on private jets within Australia when there were most definitely commercial flights available. Adam Bandt and his party rant about the evils of fossil fuels and other issues and his actions are that of an absolute hypocrite. Sure, this would not be an issue for high ranking Ministers, or the Prime Minister, because they hold extremely important positions. Adam Bandt is no where near that status and needs to "get over himself".

I just hope Labor reads the room and take heed of what the Australian people are saying or they’ll be in for a very short, problematic and potentially fatal run. The Greens have a very important mandate to change our politics and our Country.

yup, im starting to get a little less confident after some of the stuff they're saying, but maybe they're trying to ride the LNP voter attention span out before working with the greens and teals closely. we'll have to wait and see i guess

First off… brilliant response to this question. Gave it the response that such twaddle deserved. That said… we really, really need to develop a news media structure that doesnt force our journalists to become annoying little twerps asking inane ‘gotcha’ questions. The decline of media is - at least in part - part of why the quality of political leadership has plummeted to the depths where people like Morrison and Abbott were actually Prime Minister.
