My story of watching Bryan/Lesnar I remembered Bryan’s interview on Talk Is Jericho when he came out of retirement and he spoke of his goals being “artistic satisfaction”. When I saw the Bryan/Lesnar match it was weird to begin with. With Bryan fresh out of his heel turn he did the weird leg kicks and running away and posing and it was all really weird. I was watching the suplexes, the selling, the mauling he was taking. When he was hoisted for that “goodnight everybody” F5 I asked myself “Bryan, are you artistically satisfied with that match?”. And then he kicked Lesnar. All bets were off by this point. What got me hooked though was that Yes Lock. I was convinced Lesnar would tap, you could see the terror in his face, before sadly punching his way out of it. I’ve never been so happy to be proven so wrong

I've only recently come back into wrestling, partially because Adam's lists for Wrestletalk began popping up on my recommendations earlier this year. And the Firefly Funhouse match is the first match I went and watched in its entirety. What an amazing, bewildering experience. What a wonderful story told with precision and a complete lack of shame or fear. I fell back in love with wrestling's capability for storytelling thanks to Bray Wyatt and, of all people, John Cena. (Cena, by the way, is also fantastic in Southpaw Regional Wrestling.) Thank you, Adam. I'm so glad you're here. Keep up the great work, both with WrestleTalk and with yourself. You deserve it. My favourite WWE match is either the NXT North American ladder match from Takeover New Orleans (I'm a sucker for high spots; this had a heap of them, with every person in it coming out looking like a star) or the FireFly Funhouse Match (the deconstruction of Cena's character was something else). Now, here's a few honourable mentions: The Shield vs The Wyatt Family (Elimination Chamber 2014) Andrade vs Johnny Gargano (Takeover Philly) Boneyard Match (It's stupid and I love it) The first time James Ellsworth faced AJ Styles on SmackDown John Cena vs Bray Wyatt (the last man standing match) Sasha Banks vs Charlotte Flair (the first Raw after the 2016 brand split)

Adam, thank you for someone FINALLY acknowledging how great the match between Lesnar & Bryan is. It was the match that reignited my love for wrestling and made me a fan again. How it misses the top spots on so many wrestling lists - or missing the lists entirely - truly baffles me. It is my favorite match of all time and I'm glad to see that someone else feels the same way about this extremely underrated, heel-vs-heel, barn burner!

DIY/Revival in Toronto was my favorite match for a while, until we got Johnny Gargano vs. Andrade in Philadelphia. It's SUCH a good match, and it also happened to be on my birthday. Johnny is my favorite wrestler, and even though he didn't win the title here, I think he proved himself as one of NXT's all-time greats. I'm also not always a fan of outside interference, but I LOVED when Candice jumped the barricade to chase off Zelina Vega. Only a few matches since this have been as good (in my opinion - I can count 3 off the top of my head), but none of them compare to this. It's just...it's so so good.

The fact that you weren't afraid to put the Firefly Funhouse match at the top of this list gives me immense joy & courage. Because that match is easily my Match of the Year so far and one of my favorite matches of the decade. I've stood by this opinion and have been ridiculed by many for it. I don't get this idea that a wrestling match needs to have bodies being thrown around & getting hurt. Its a make believe world. Why can't we have visual representation of minds wrestling each others' thoughts & fears? Imo FFH match was an absolute masterpiece in storytelling, one that I will make my kids sit n watch one day. My fav Shawn michaels match is actually vs ric flair at mania 24. Absolutely loved it and also it spun off multiple great fueds from it. Michaels vs batista was a great and often forgotten fued which led into the even more amazing jericho Michaels fued that year

Cactus Jack v Triple H, Royal Rumble 2000. A textbook example of a match where both performers leave more 'over' than when they went in and cemented Foley's legacy as one of the great lunatic monsters in wrestling. It's barbaric but never at the expense of the story telling. It also has one of Jim Ross's most underrated calls: "My God, Cactus, the title's not worth THIS!" Ricky Steamboat v Randy Savage, Wrestlemania 3. I watched 'Mania 3 for the first time not knowing anything about the under card. This match blew me away. The escalating drama and the crisp perfection of the choreography allowed me to suspend my disbelief.

But while maybe not always the most techinical of matches. The spectacle and atmosphere of Mania reallly pushes them over the line in entertainment value.

I don't know what order but some of my favorites are the "im sorry, i love you" match, Dustin vs Cody in AEW Double or Nothing, and honestly? Kane and Undertaker vs MVP and Mr Kennedy. Its my favorite squash match ever, its a comedic murder as they try to escape the brothers and keep being forced back into it, they play total cowards and keep getting destroyed every time they try to make a comeback to the point it's just Kane and Undertaker trying to outdo each other in how much they can murder their opponents, it always just gives me a stupid smile on my face every time i see it.

Maybe a weird choice, but I loved Survivor Series, 2014, Team Cena vs Team Authority. It had a well-built story, high stakes, revenge, comeuppance, lots of fast past action, one hell of a comeback win, oh and let's not forget when all was lost, the ref was counting, the lights went out, a bird started cawing and freaking Sting came out to set it all right. Was anyone sitting down when that happened? If it can get me that pumped, then it deserves a spot on a list like this.

I mean any match with DIY and The Revival in it together gets a vote from me, but the Takeover: Toronto match was my favorite match of all time, tag team or not, for a pretty long time. I think it may be down to #3 or 4 in my personal list now, but that match and that era of NXT will hold a special place in my heart for years to come.

My personal favorite was actually the forgotten Wrestlemania main event (Benoit vs HHH vs Shawn Michaels) I loved how they mixed 2 storylines into one match in the grandest stage of them all. I love the pressure that was put into Benoit’s head to prove Paul Hayman that he was indeed a true wrestling veteran and a champion while also telling the story of Shawn Michaels’ desire to destroy HHH and get his revenge for what he did before Summerslam 02. And of course the ending, when Benoit and Eddie Guerrero hugged it out with both championships on their hands
