Why DIDN'T they go with Jinder as a face champion? India is still pretty into kayfabe and they're not going to get behind a dastardly heel champ. Indians want to see themselves as a brave, conquering hero just like everyone else. They're also not really anti-American, so that story wasn't going to get them excited. After 3MB broke up I never would have guessed that 1 would be a world champion and another would win the rumble and make Brock look silly, and even if I had I would never have guessed Jinder would be the champion. Fair play to them, all 3 have survived what for some would have been a career killing jobber gimmick and all have improved their stock and won stuff

@@OpreRoma Not only that but quite honestly I don't get all the hate on Jinder. Sure that WWE title reign was kind of lackluster but he did the best he could with what he was given. He has a great look and is honestly pretty good on the mic... He's lacking a little bit in the ring but that can be camouflaged by maybe making him a tag wrestler. Have him be the super serious brute of the team who makes the saves for the cocky/goofy workhorse partner. In that regard, Heath would somewhat ironically be the perfect partner for him.
@OpreRoma4 жыл бұрын
@@TheShadowBrigade i don't blame Jinder at all, or any of the other talents involved in the fued. He was booked horribly. WWE couldn't decide if he was a jacked up powerhouse heel or a cowardly chickenshit heel, so they half committed to both and achieved neither. Jinder just did what he needed to do. He sorted himself out after he got fired, got in the best shape of his life, took the opportunities he got and now he's an established part of the roster. He's not to blame for creative giving him bland storylines, an unoriginal character that achieved the opposite of what they wanted, maybe he wasn't quite good enough to be a massive star, but booked correctly Jinder could have been much better to watch and he'd probably be more fondly remembered as a champion. Me personally, I'd have done a more traditional build and give him a winning streak before he gets his shot. Have him maul some jobbers. Give him some midcard victories. Then you can build a narrative that this is a new Jinder who is much better than the guy who was the 3rd best member of 3MB. It would still be a massive shock when he gets the shot and the title, but it feels more natural, he has some cred, he's established as being in form, and people get used to the idea of Jinder actually being a threat to his opponents. I'd then have him do a couple of defences legit, but have him become unhinged with power, like Adam suggested, have him get to the point where he'll do anything to keep the belt. He never wants to be a jobber again. At this point, he should recruit the Singh brothers. Then instead of suddenly becoming the JBL or Miz style champ he suddenly became with no explanation irl, you have a narrative that explains how Jinder became that man, that takes his past history into account. Instead of ignoring his days as a jobber, he embraces them, he uses them as fuel to become the Modern Day Maharaja. Far from being an awkward footnote, the losses become his motivation to never fall down the card again. That way, you have your heel Jinder as champ, but with a story that makes sense, with clear motivations for his actions, all his changes as a person explained. Cos that was a huge problem irl, Jinder as the Maharaja wasn't built , he just kinda materialised, and in no time he's gone from that faux rockstar to the rich guy who is racially abusing Nakamura for heat

I also know a lot of people will just hate me for saying it AT ALL... but I live in the area where the man who would go on to become Jinder Mahal got his start - and he's such a great guy, and such a hard worker, and so in love with what he does, that (even if it wasn't a great run) I'm glad he got to have a stint in the spotlight. I am an Indian pro wrestling fan for the past 21 years. The most avid(around 60-70%) wrestling watchers in India believe that pro wrestling s actually unscripted. They believe that it isn't pre-determined. Vince knows it too. So Vince thought, we'd buy this Jinder Mahal push. Not to be. Most of the fans here simply didn't believe him as credible enough to beat Randy Orton, even after the interference of Singh brothers. It was a nice moment, yeah, but local tv ratings plummeted
