I think he loves Adam. He loved Adam more than Rahim. You can love a person but not have them be at the level they need to be in order to have a full relationship. that is realistic story telling right there. Adam is just not comfortable enough with himself for Eric to even be his full self. The thing that probably/partially draws Adam to Eric is that he is fully himself, out-going, and comfortable. To stay with Adam while he is not comfortable with himself is to have Eric compromise the thing Adam liked most about him, to be frank. They clearly like/love each other and Adam just needs time to be comfortable with himself and like himself.

On the one hand, I understand Eric, he is comfortable with himself, and he needs to be with someone on the same level. Eric understands himself and is unwilling to stay with Adam for the sake of being together; I am happy he broke up with Adam instead of stringing him along. But, I didn't particularly appreciate how Eric cheated on Adam and how he said he didn't feel that bad about it. Also, I did not like how impatient Eric was with Adam. It's like he never took the time to fully understand where Adam was coming from and was always constantly gaslighting him. Adam changed a lot for Eric; he did a lot for Eric, even learning how to write poetry just for him, yet Eric failed to see that. Eric constantly nagged on Adam and continually rushed him to “come out” or live out in the open. It's a process and takes time, especially when one considers Adam’s background and the relationship he has with his father. I do not remember them talking about Adam or his family or why Adam needed to look away from Eric to express himself. But alas, I understand these are kids in high school, and even though they act so mature, they are still high schoolers. I love Adam’s character development, and it made me a fan of his this season. I understand Eric’s character development, and it makes sense considering how he did Rahim last season. Even though I wouldn't say I like it, I understand it. I am still a fan of Eric. I genuinely enjoy their story arc, and I am excited to see where it goes. Edited: thanks for the likes
@alexb45223 жыл бұрын
This…except the cheating part. Tbh its never right, but with all bias and concerns out, there’s nothing to appreciate or hate-its just that its the result and it was the feeling. One would rather say their truth then have themselves lie about something that’s already ended and create more resentment over something done and overdue. So really, I dont think it matters that he said he didn’t feel guilty about cheating bc it was his realization point that yes, he deserves what he needs and desires and not just the relationship he thinks he wants to settle for bc of their ‘love’. I feel like I’m rambling but as some of us have said, it was better that Eric ended it already instead of further striging him along, and that it was good for Eric bc albeit morally controversial it was his peak points of need and realization that there is more than what his present world has had to offer and settle for.

My biggest issue with it is that Eric also throughout the first(?) season was struggling with something similar. He was out, but only to certain people, not to his family and therefore couldn't fully express himself either so, I was kinda annoyed that Eric wasn't as patient or understanding about Adam's situation when he had to undergo the same thing albeit at a different degree not that long before. I understand his reasoning though and that it's hard being with someone who's closeted when you're out but even so he could've told Adam they could be friends and maybe take another run at dating once he feels mode comfortable with himself instead of hurting him by cheating. After all, it seemed like Eric was helping him on that front, putting makeup on him and could continue helping him expand how he chooses to express himself by showing him the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community. Some are very masculine others are feminine, some alternate. There's really no set way to express yourself and seeing that may help some of the trauma Adam's dad caused (along with some therapy of course).

@diyakurian59283 жыл бұрын
Netflix. Here's a suggestion for Adam in s4. Please let him go get the therapy he needs because the psychological damage his father has done to him is evidently still thriving from how his character concluded in s3. He needs to learn to love himself and stop being so self hating. Also please let him and his father rekindle their relationship into a loving one and possibly give him someone who unlike Eric will appreciate what a sweetheart he is. Also ik you guys are trying to hint at him and rahim but please don't. Those two have no romantic chemistry and it would nice for you to let them be just friends... show that it is more than possible for two gay people to be just friends without falling in love with each other.

Seeing him smile genuinely made me so happy! I was a bit disappointed in Eric’s “growth”, much like Otis it feels like he stopped caring for others. I don't know what will happens next to Adam, but I just hope he'll be able to keep growing and be happy. I love how they’re developing this story. Sex Education literally brought me to tears one night. It was like my heart was opening up. Seeing all these damaged characters pouring their truths out - like dented cans of soup or something - reminded me of how isolated I’ve been for so many years. It also reminded me of how uncomfortable it is putting everything out on the table in front of someone you’ve grown to trust, because you don’t have any clue what they’re going to do with it once it’s there. It’s especially hard once you’ve also grown natured to certain ways of digesting information, processing emotions outwardly, or been conditioned to keep certain feelings locked away from the world, or even having to therapize your own self, trying - in your isolation - to fix a problem you feel should’ve been able to be done with because •you• deal with it, so others don’t get a look at the ugly feelings that you’re made keen to shove away. I’m learning more so that as long as my will is to keep trying to change for the better, and by putting forth action to change, then change is imminent.

He started to see who really is. Hes really good man. I love him. I think him and Eric’s relationship was good affect for him. Because Eric is unapologetically himself so he was good role model. Yes i was so mad to Eric when he broke up with Adam. What he said broke my heart too. But i understand what Eric meant, they are in different paths so he felt he went to backwards. So that feeling made him that decision. 😕

I really hope we see more development from eric in s4. I think he was really unsympathetic to Adam’s situation when they were together. It felt like he was always pushing him to come out and do things he was uncomfortable with, and getting upset when Adam expressed his discomfort. I 100% understand Eric’s side of things, and I don’t think he was in the wrong for not wanting to hide, but maybe talk to your boyfriend about that? Before kissing someone else? Adam was willing to do so much for them, and Eric was barely willing to budge. I’m racking my brain trying to think of a moment where we see Eric try to support Adam. Yeah, he’s not his therapist, but a half decent friend, let alone boyfriend could tell that he was struggling. We don’t even see Eric helping him study or anything. Idk, I don’t think Eric’s some mad villain or something, I think he’s just a teenager, but it would be nice for some of all that to be acknowledged, and for some growth to happen. I normally love Eric but I can’t get over the fact that he wouldn’t be patient with Adam when he literally chose to date Adam over Rahim. Adam has always struggled with his words. Everyone knows that, so it sucked that Eric’s first reaction was to blow up on Adam when he said he didn’t want to have sex. Plus asking for a clarification and being understanding is important- ESPECIALLY because Eric interpreted what Adam said as “I don’t want to have sex right now” so it’s extra toxic that he got mad at Adam. Misunderstanding included, Eric’s initial reaction should have been to make Adam feel safe. If Eric wanted someone who was eloquent with his words, or overboard with pda then he should have stuck with Rahim. What was the point Eric of pushing Adam to change if he wasn’t going to be grateful for all the little changes Adam made? It feels like Eric had this idea in his mind if what “the gay experience”should be like, rather than what a relationship between him and Adam specifically should be like. Which is sad because relationships shouldn’t be performative. I think it’s good they broke up. Adam deserves a chance to come to terms with his sexuality (outside of Eric’s influence). And Eric has some soul-searching to do… cheating is never okay and it always is connected to a deeper problem. Then again, it’s a fxcking show😂😂😂 so not really as serious as my take is, tbh. Plus, flawed characters are real characters. And I still like Eric 😩 he’s iconic

Not sure if this is only me, but I thought they were so amazing together. The sort of ending to their relationship didn't make sense to me. They said they loved each other, and then suddenly Eric discovers all these things about himself that he didn't know before? You can tell that Adam felt that there was tension and he told Eric he didn’t want space or bad energy left between them before Nigeria. Eric was sad about Adam not being open and he never communicated that but instead got over his feelings by finding the things he wanted in Adam in someone else. Adam still wanted to be with Eric and was willing to move on. I feel like this does show the compulsion of teen love but it seems out of character for Eric to bring Adam down like that. I also love that at the end it showed the poetry Adam wrote because it shows how he didn’t react in anger but instead expressed himself in something he only did to make Eric happy, he became so mature and it shows in his writing. I hope in the next season that Adam continues to find himself and I don’t really know if I want Eric and Adam to be endgame though. I think if Eric especially developed more then it would be very wholesome but I also think no one new added to the storyline would be shipped by fans so idk.

I’m going to say something a bit controversial. While I feel Eric and Adam are cute together, I don’t think they are at a point in their emotional development where their relationship can last. Adam needs to deal with all the shit his dad made him feel for years to really grow into who he can be without that pressure. Eric I think is still figuring himself out as a gay man and how he wants present himself as such in the world at large. Eric really did love Adam, which is amazing when you look at where they started from. Eric has accepted himself as a gay man and now wants to feel apart of that community. While Adam is still figuring himself out not only as a bisexual man but as a person. I love Adams growth and I feel like this series is amazing because they really humanized him. I think Eric and Adam need sometime to figure themselves out but their both still young. I hope they try again sometime in the future and if not I want them both to be as happy as they can be.

Adam doesn't need a boyfriend at all. Adam needs therapy so that he can learn to like himself. Eric apologized for hurting Adam, BUT he brought up a very valid point. Its hard to love a person that doesn't love themselves. Adam doesn't even love himself at this point. He struggled to find something he was good at and has a horrible relationship with his father. Adam probably shouldn't have jumped into a relationship with Eric to begin with without being a little more self-realized.

Yea I agree with a comment I saw saying that it's stupid for Eric to be upset and not patient with Adam, who only recently figured out things, while Eric has had so much longer. Eric saying he wants to "fly" and Adam can barely "walk" is just annoying, like he was dating Rahim who was "flying" too, but he chose to be with Adam, knowing everything was still fresh and new for him. I just think it's ridiculous on Eric's part, he didn't seem to care enough to have a bit more patience with Adam. Also, I thought it was selfish/a dick move that Eric got so pissed off when it seemed like Adam was backing out from having sex and so Eric threw a fit. I really like Eric as a character for the past 2 seasons, but he should take time to figure out what he really wants (someone who can "fly" or if he can be a bit more understanding with someone learning to "walk". Hell, he could help him to "run")
