why do people say jungle/drum and bass now? is that like the official name? it annoys me. not my scene any more though I guess. ha ha. the name was changed from jungle to D&B to make it more inviting to students. I know you can pin point a sound known as jungle and then a hard step sound which could be called drum and bass, but I always just seen it all as one music, jungle is just an older term for D&B. just my opinion though like.

When i first got my driving license back in 1997 i had a mix CD that a friend of mine gave me with some classic tracks on it by Roni Size, Adam F, Andy C, Grooverider, LTJ Bukem... etc My car was a shitty Nova and the sound system cost more than the car itself but i loved that car more than any other car i've had since. Whenever i hear this 'Circles' track it's like a time machine that takes me straight back to those glory days of DnB and the great friends and fun i had at the time. I'm seeing a lotta controversial chat about the pinkpantheress girl who used this banger of a track for her song. I agree with the oldskool heads to an extent that she didn't actually 'sample' the song, as sampling refers to taking out a SEGMENT of the song and flipping it into your own style, in this instance she didn't take a segment, but the WHOLE song which always needs permission by the original artist (this is only fair as in the music world, usin' another producers track for commercial purposes aka putting songs up on spotify, apple music etc without their permission is essentially theft, as the original artist is losing out on money - pretty str8 forward). BUT... Since she blew up with the song, she now has a consistent audience that rates what she did with the track, so exceptions were made by the looks of it (and ofc a lot of £££). HOWEVER, she said that she CLEARED the 'sample' (this track) with ADAM F (original producer) meaning he's OKAY with her using it as he's getting paid for it, so it's all equal - you can't really fault her or any1 here in this situation as permission was in fact given. MUSIC IS MUSIC - let shit be, every1 is entitled to their own tastes. I understand the mentality of the oldskool heads have where, they don't want tiktok to 'ruin' their scene with PERHAPS, cheesy vocals over the top etc (btw not saying they are cheesy personally jus using an example they might use/say). But the thing oldskool heads dont get is that, the original song isn't going anywhere lol, the old classic dnb, jungle, happycore- whatever the fk you're listening to will ALWAYS be there, thats the whole point of the internet, you can go back in time - theres records of everything so please relax. Isn't fair to blame the girl and slur against her when all she did was make a harmless song- If anything the oldskool listeners should take it as a COMPLIMENT that she used this track in her song, it will certainly put on more of the new generation to oldskool genres as they might get the incentive to check out the original track and listen to more similar stuff if they like this one!
@Neur0nauT3 жыл бұрын
Well said. The truth is all music is influenced by bits and pieces of other music that has come before since time immemorial...been heard and appreciated then passed onto future generations. AFAIK it was called intelligent drum and bass 😉
@tweeleaf11 ай бұрын
@@seldom8075however the originators of jungle (basically the father of dnb) actually disliked that term, as it insinuated that other jungle and dnb was unintelligent.

@@lukeharrison7879 Yeah we were actually. 😁 Rules have always been different in the UK. You used to be able to smoke at 16 and drinking age was always 18 during my lifetime. But also we had fake IDs and got in everywhere (but mainly went to house parties- we’d call it a “free house” when someone’s parents were away and they were having a shin dig). If you’re from my generation in London, you’ll know.
