The same verse (2:36) proves that Adam was not on Earth when he was asked to move down to "Earth". Allah (swt) would not have said (in the same verse): وَلَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُسْتَقَرٌّۭ وَمَتَـٰعٌ إِلَىٰ حِينٍۢ "You will find in the earth a residence and provision for your appointed stay" This is further cleared unequivocally in 7:24 and 7:25 referring to the same scenario with more details, where Allah (swt) added: قَالَ فِيهَا تَحْيَوْنَ وَفِيهَا تَمُوتُونَ وَمِنْهَا تُخْرَجُونَ "There you will live, there you will die, and from there you will be resurrected.” Meaning, the new place he was asked to descend to (i.e. The Earth, as mentioned in 2:36, 7:24 etc) is where he will live, will die, and be resurrected from - implying that the previous place (Garden) was not on Earth at all. Had it already been a garden on Earth, Allah (swt) would not have asked him to descend to Earth or mention that in it (Earth) he would live and die and get resurrected. This additional detail proves that Adam was moved from a garden elsewhere to Earth. I do understand assuming that garden to be "Paradise" would also be problematic, because what was Satan doing roaming around in The Paradise after disobeying God? Impossible. So, rather, I believe, that it was neither the Paradise, nor a garden on Earth.. it was a completely separate garden that is being referred to here. And since we have no more information about it, we should leave it at that. That's my understanding on this topic that complies with the Qur'an and raises no objections. but Allah knows best.

You misinterpreted the arabic words. Following the christians ones. They were cast out from a Garden. The skies are not a suitable place for gardening. The root HBT is about a Stigma, etymologically. Christians don't care Allah's words and meaning.

The garden where Adam, his wife and the Satan was could be anywhere in the heavens. No need to apply physics and sociology when we're discussing God's choices, they're endless and not limited to Earth or Paradise. The Garden (where Adam et al were) could be anywhere. But certainly it can't be the Paradise nor could it be the Earth as I already explained above through the Verses.

The Erath was created for Aadam, and you want to put him in another place. Jannat is a garden, and we could open the meaning of the word : undefinite matter, no distinction on it. Come back to arabic meaning, not christians ones : )

Shabir Ally's "downtown ' explanation is not working. On earth they would find provision. Allah warns us not to let Satan seduce us as he is the cause of Adam and Eve getting expelled from Jannah. Remember , Allah only called Iblees a Shaytaan after this episode. Angels descend and ascend to the heavens to receive and execute Allah's instructions. Iblees was so good. He is a jinn and used to be good and in the company of the Angels. Therefore, when Allah addressed the angels to prostrate, iblees was with them, and he refused. So the angels ascend to the heavens. Also the earth and the heavens were one. If earth has gardens and trees then why can the other half not have the same?Are the sky and firmament the same as modern science want you to believe? Or did Allah create 7 heavens?

Thanks for your insight. Also it contradicts Allah’s initial purpose of sending a viceroy to earth. If Allah decided in the beginning to create Adam on earth then why Allah needs an excuse to send him down to earth as a punishment.Besides the story gets complicated if we believe that the clay from earth was transported to heaven and Adam was created and then Satan has access to heaven and go there to influence Adam and Eve. Your explanation can be further elaborated by Adam and Eve’s separation Allah created by placing them to two different parts of the world. Apparently Adam was thrown to Srilanka ( Sham) and Eve was placed in Arab states. The intensity of the verse go down with enmity between yourselves most likely implies that but not the descent from Heaven. Allah knows best.

Surah 7 verse 27 O children of Adam! Do not let Satan deceive you as he tempted your parents out of Paradise and caused their cover to be removed in order to expose their nakedness. Linguisticly, the word HBT هبط is related to Stigma, a record of something. The so "descend" for this word is most propably came from christians and unknwolegde of the semitic language and culture. Then arabs interpretator took from them.

He didn't say Islamic paradise will be on earth... The Arabic word for paradise is jannat ​and the Arabic word for heavens is samawat... After death and judgement it is paradise that awaits the beleivers. Just a highlighted side note… he is saying that Adam wasn't in paradise or heaven when he was told to stay away from the forbidden tree.

In the Bible, God allows Adam to name the animals as part of his stewardship over them. In the Quran, Allah plays "Guess the animal's name" with the angels to prove that Adam is superior. Just another fantastical change the Quran makes in getting the biblical account wrong.

The problem is you are analysing scripture that is in a foreign language that you don't understand.... All the sa.etic language which inc Hebrew (the language the scriptures you are referring to is in) umhave so thing called the royal plural.... English is a very simple language and doesn't contain the complexities of all different types of plurals that sametic languages have.... No one from the Samites are confused about this issue... Even the Christian that understand the sametic languages know there is no case here. Prior to this the vrs you quoted is followed up by saying the desciples and Jesus are one also.... These two verses may seem like a contradiction at first because it says in Genesis 19:24 that the Lord rained brimstone and fire from another Lord out of the heavens, and then it says the Lord is one, that is because God is multiple divine persons that make One God.

Ruther I was trying to show you that you don't understand the Grammer of the sametic languages..... There is something called the royal plural.... And every sametic language has this. If you take these words to mean more than one then that is because you don't know the Hebrew language correctly. Arabic is the same arabic says "we and us" even though it is talking about 1 ..... That one would be recognised as a person of great status...... Royal plural. We also have plural for 2 that is different from plural that is 3 or more.... We also have plural that is a large but unspecified number .... And we have the royal plural. We have a thew more but these are examples to show you... If you don't know the language you will fall astray.

You may have read it in Hebrew I don't think you understand Hebrew.... For someone to analyse ambiguous passages you need to know the original language. It's a principal... Not just scripture.... Before verse (2:37) which you infer and speculate about the meaning of the word (go down) God in the two preceding verses directly stated that Adam and Eve were in Paradise and then descended to earth. Why did you not mention that?! And We said, “O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat there from [ease and] abundance from wherever you will. But do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers.” (35) But Satan caused them to slip out of it and removed them from that [condition] in which they had been. And We said, “Go down, [all of you], as enemies to one another, and you will have upon the earth a place of settlement and provision for a time.” (36) Quran(2:35-36)

With all due respect to Dr shabir; his knowledge in regards to Adam (peace be upon him) is not fully understood. He is supporting his knowledge of Bible and other things; Allah subhanu wa ta’ala created Adam in the heavens, because Iblis (Satan) did not prostrate with all the angels to Adam when commanded by Allah ! So Allah told Iblis to get out of Here ( Paradise) ! Read Surah Al Araf verses 19-26 and you will know that they were in Paradise of heavens! What a shame on a so called scholar of Islam but yet not knowing the whole Quran!!!
