Okul arkadaşlarının çoğu, hürriyet aşkıyla, ülküleri uğrunda, içtikleri and'a bağlı kalarak, değişik yabancı ülkelerde ömürlerini tamamladılar. Sevdiği sınıf arkadaşlarından biri Amerika'ya, diğeri Iran'a gitti.

As a Turkish, my heart has a great sympathy for Poland, because of its struggle for freedom. Myself not a Muslim either (atheist), but I always see Poland like the second home. They are very nice to us. Think about how we fought Russian aggressors in Syria, I am more pleased to listen Polish history.

Apparently the house unfortunately is not original. The genuine Mickiewicz's house burned down and the one you visited was rebuilt to cherish the memory of our poet. I'd also say that it's vital to know that Mickiewicz was not only a poet, but also a religious activist, a profesor of College de France and a towianist. The towianist period of his life is often omitted in any remarks about Mickiewicz, but it actually shaped his view on the world. As long as it's extremely wrong to say that Mickiewicz stopped writing because of towianism (the towianists were NOT permitted to write, Mickiewicz stopped creating because of a very difficult period in his personal life) the idea definitely influenced him. Enough to say that he kept a portrait of Towiański in Istanbul. Also, white cross is a commonly used towianist symbol. I have no idea whether the person who created the temporary grave knew it, but it seems symbolic to me!

Moje ulubione to Świteź i Trzech Budrysów.

It is false to speak only about Poland, when talking about Mickiewicz and showing map of territories which were Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth. A multi-ethnic nation consisted from what is today: Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, and part of Ukraine. Many jews and tatars also lived there. It is straight lie to call it simply 'Poland". Adam wasn't born in today's Poland, but in today's Belarus. He called himself Litvin refering to the Great Dutchy of Lithuania which is NOT Poland. He was enhusiastic to bring back Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth which existed for 400 years and was partitioned not long ago by neighbouring countries in Mickiewicz lifetime. It is NOT just what is today's Poland. It is unfair that Poland puts exclusive rights to the shared historical figures. Mickiewicz was born what is today's Belarus, wrote in Polish, but he did know Lithuanian language too and lived and wrote some time in Vilnius, Kaunas, which is today's Lithuania. Ironically, Mickiewicz never had a chance to visit the main cities of today's Poland, be it Warsaw or Cracow. Poland has to learn to share history and stop talking about everything exclusively "Polish".

Read please his surname. Everyone knows him as a Mickewicz. He accepted the rules of the polish language and was written as Mickiewicz. But when he was young his surname was Mićkiewicz. Is a polish name Mićka? No. Coz it is Belarusian name . I'm not talking about territory at all. The territories of states change, but ethnic groups are always in place. And Novogrudok (Nowogrodek, Navaradok) is a belarusian town now and 1000 years ago and forever. And real name of Belarus is Litva (Litwo).

Hi Ryan, I like your films, I watch them for years and we are friends, you were sending me emails time ago. But I have reservations to some of your comments in this film. It is unacceptable to say Mickiewicz wanted to fight Russians, as you said at least twice, instead he wanted to fight Russia's oppression of Poland at the time, this makes a difference, doesn't it ? Don't forget Russia was ruled by German dynasty from 1756 until 1917 and every tsar took a German protestant woman imported from outside of Russia for wife. Russia actually was something as an a country fully controlled by West and careless about her own folks. Mickiewicz was a friend of Russian people and he expressed it frequently. His decision to organise a Polish legion in fighting alongside Britain and France against Russia is being questioned inside Poland eversince it happened. Last, not least, you should better pronounce his name: Mickiewicz, not Miskiewicz, his name is kind of holy for Poles as Poland was his religion. Greetings to you, keep up doing great job.
