Really? Nearly every comedy sequel is pretty bad... The thing about great comedy movies is you can watch them over and over and find something new to laugh at each time. They don't need sequels. Especially since they always try and go bigger on the second movies' gags rather than just trying to write funny scenes. It rarely, if ever, works. I hope I'm wrong, of course, but statistically speaking, comedy sequels are usually mediocre at best.

@@randomdude189 I don't know that I would call Happy Gilmore a cult movie, but even if it was one, a bad sequel is not something that even the most hardcore fans would appreciate. Look at some of the greatest comedies of all time with sequels, like Dumb and Dumber and Anchorman. Those sequels were dreadful. I love both of those movies and can watch them a billion times, but those sequels did nothing for their fans... Can a comedy sequel work? Sure, anything is possible, but chances are it will just be awful...

I hope Ben Stillers Hal character comes back and has more to do for Happy Gilmore 2. There's a deleted scene from the original movie where he goes to pick up his grandma from the nursing home and confronts Hal about how abusive he had been towards her because she supposedly told Happy about it. Then he throws him out the window. So maybe for the sequel Hal will get revenge on Happy.

Possible plot idea that probably sucks… In the years we’ve missed, happy won a few championships but ultimately bought a minor league hockey team to follow his true passion. Meanwhile he has kids and his son plays hockey and golf. So does shooters son… It starts with great casting to make shooters son an amazing douche and happy son a little more timid but talented. Some shooter sports parent moments would also be great Maybe they even play in a father son version of the Waterbury open which could be the climax or maybe happy loses with his son and his son is devastated or embarrassed so it sparks happy to get back on the senior tour against shooter where I imagine rather than be enemies again they some how join forces in a funny way. I think happy being a smart ass to an aloof shooter could by a good comedic dynamic. A little bit of a grown ups vibe I suppose with tons of nods and callbacks to the original. Or something as simple as it picks up from happy owning a failing driving range and needs to get his shit back together on the tour to win back his business and maybe that’s where shooters son can be introduced, on the new pga tour he makes it back to. Kind of the same plot as the first. Raising money by winning tournaments. It could even be a long drive contest?!? Idk

Happy Gilmore is probably my favorite movie of all time, but man.....I'd be so conflicted about them making sequel. That first movie was like lightning in a bottle. Just a perfect cast with a perfect script at the perfect time. Making anything even _CLOSE_ to that is going to next to impossible! (especially considering we no longer have Bob Barker, Carl Weathers or Richard Kiel with us) It would be like making a sequel to Super Troopers or Talladega Nights. It's just unnecessary. The story they were trying tell has already been told, and they're damn near perfect movies as they are. As much as I'd love to see those characters again, do we really need a continuation of the story? They're gonna have to walk on bloody eggshells if they want to get a Happy Gilmore 2 right!
