Well done, men. Nice to see some sincere appreciation for my favorite PTA movie and, in fact, my favorite movie of the 21st century. So glad you acknowledged the brilliant, poetic use of light in this movie and the fact that the film-making style is an actualization of the interior life of the protagonist. As you said, this is a very personal film and even a sort of rom-com, but I would suggest that it also functions on the level of myth/fable, a story in which the hero is stuck, is visited by an angel, follows her to paradise, and is given the power to face down first the devil's minions and then the devil himself. The play of light in the film really brings such an interpretation to life. Nice job...

I saw this film in the theaters and while I knew it wasn't going to be a Happy Madison goofball comedy, I still wasn't entirely ready for the film. My best way to describe it at the time, and I think still works in general, is the portrayal of Barry is what psychologically Happy Gilmore would have to be in a drama to act out the way Happy does. The constant pressure he gets from the environment and from his family and a wonderful Philip Seymour Hoffman. Happy Gilmore lashing out violently is funny in a comedy, but in a dramatic film it would be tension-filled. And that was my reaction in theater. At the end of the movie my knees ached and I realized I'd been clenching up nearly the entire movie. Everything in the cinema craft just builds tension. From sound design to score to cinematography. The mid-movie car crash and how he just gets out and metes out damage to the thugs in a lighter movie would be the action-rallying moment for the audience, but it still was haunting for me. All of that being said, the near heroic euphoria of seeing his silhouette holding that phone in the doorway, and the way he quietly says "I have a love in my life, it makes me stronger than you can imagine." And you get PSH trying to get in the final jab only to have to back off real quick-like. Just awesome!

Love the pacing and the vibes guys! You two seem much more comfortable in the Podcast setting than the Reaction setting. Never saw this movie or your podcast before (just Reactions) but I dig the natural energy. Very chill and authentic 😁👍

I literally rewatched this the other day. One of my favourite movies of all time. I adore it! Very excited to hear what you guys think of it. Also, will we be getting any PTA reactions on the main channel at some point?

One of my top three Adam Sandler movies! I loved this movie since the first time i saw it in the theater with my best friend, we both thought it was a great dark comedy, quotable lines ("That's that!"), quirky music ("He needs me" from Popeye?!?) and gorgeous cinematography (PTA and his oners are always fun). Definitely an acting departure for Sandler which i also appreciated. My other 2 favorites are 50 first dates and The Wedding Singer, kinda sad you guys didn't mention that one... 💜
