He just came off the last season of a 14 year long world famous tv show, with no end of resudual checks in sight (if he didn't get screwed in his contracts). Just makes me wonder how stupidly rich this Dan Lanigan is to be able to out bid many others for all these highly sought after collectibles.

Thanks for sharing, collecting has taken such a bizarre turn since the Internet opened up, I used to collect vinyl records as a kid, and digging through piles and piles of old records, talking to shop collectors and going to trade shows, finally finding and being able to afford that ONE piece of plastic you had been looking for was exciting enough to last weeks...Today, you just punch up a link, and there it is. Today I collect switchblade knives, there's about maybe 500 collectors nationwide and there is a site for rare switchblades, but I still scour foreign websites and message antique shops and hunting pages for leads, they have them at trade shows, but it isn't the same, since everyone has the same access, it's like collectors used to be secret societies and now they're in the open. I hope that one day these pieces make it to some kind of public display, so many are iconic and would be so appreciated by people all over the world. I walk down Hollywood Boulevard about once a week, if I saw a sign that said "movie props! Blade Runner Gun! LOTR swords! I'd have to stop and see them. Congrats! Do an episode on your entire collection!

+Theo Roosevelt you have to, though if you've never seen and enjoyed a very old science fiction movie, it may not be that impressive to you, so don't feel bad if you don't really like it (most people get nostalgia, at the time the standards were another thing)
@eustacequinlank74189 жыл бұрын
+Cristian Marturet I don't get nostalgia, I love the film because it's amazing. Do people really mentally throw classics out the window because they weren't made in the last 10 years? Oh well, Fritz Lang, Eisenstein, Bergman, Hitchcock, Fellini, Tarkovsky you're in the dust bin because some of your films were all scratchy and in black and white. I swear this generation doesn't know they are born.
@LOKO22Bach9 жыл бұрын
Man Beadle I am not from that generation, I was just warning people so the hype doesn't get to them, the hype can always harm what would naturally be an awesome experience (if you want an example, you could just look at what happens all the time with any good game or movie that is hyped nowadays, people shit on them). Also, I recently turned 22, so this movie isn't from my generation, that doesn't mean that I don't love it (or any other old movie for that matter, heck I even have a few black and white favorites). Though, I cansee where your anger is comming from... this comment was in the hope of opening your mind a little, not everyone with a fault is a dick)

I'm surprised Adam did not break out a scale, and calipers.

the muzzle of Adam's replica is a lot smaller though compared to the original's.

they got to be the two biggest nerds I've seen in my life! I wish more people were like them :) I really want to make a replica myself

I wonder if having Adam Savage's fingerprints all over the piece DECREASES the value, or increases it... Hmmm

I love seeing Adam so happy and excited. It's how i'd react to seeing something that meant so much to me. What I like even more about this particular video is that Adam gets to see how close his is to the original. And a little bit of patina and bluing aside his is near perfect. Interestingly given how firearms finishes can change over time depending on storage conditions, etc. Adam's may be closer to how the pistol looked at time of filming :) Either way always love seeing Adam getting a chance to nerd out on a piece of iconic movie stuffs. Whether it's admiring an original or making his own.
