That resigned pause and "sigh" seeing that wrench drawer at the end was so profoundly relatable that I felt it in my soul, lol. We have all been there, so proud of our latest finished project only to have to stare at the next one dead in the face.

Adam, I feel your pain in how storage drawers/shelves have natural entropy. Just a few suggestions, for your box cutting blades, use a piece of metal rod to string the blades together and make the rod long enough to fit into the sides of your blade’s compartment. This way you can avoid sticking your fingers into an area where you can get cut. Also for your xacto knife handles, 3d print small inserts that allow you to string them side by side. And if you make them small enough you can make them so they can be stacked. 3d printed organizers are great little items to make and use. Even for allen wrenches. I always enjoy your shop reorganization videos.

Even with the most simple/basic of concepts for a video you never cease to keep me watching, a true testament to Adam's personality and ability too keep thing's interesting. An AMAZING video idea that I am sure a lot of people would find super awesome would be you delving into the world of "Warhammer", With your love of modeling, building & painting I feel like you would LOVE some of their bigger model kits. A video of Adam building & painting one of the Warhammer 40k "knight/titan" models would be a marvelous couple of "one day build" videos. (especially if he was up for the task to take on a "Warlord Titan"😆) Just him building it would be astounding to see how he would go about it, let alone the paint job would be a spectacle. With his 3d printer farm up and running he would even be able to just print one 😲

If you do the layout in the metal drawer itself you can leave it all in place while you work on the insert. Also using plain paper to add contrast to that drawer helps keep it similar to the eye and easier to judge things.
@marksnyder2232 Жыл бұрын
I was wondering if you ever tried using a thinner material, like a mat board, for the bottom of the organizer? Since once in place you have the metal drawer bottom supporting things, it would seem the strength is only needed when moving the organizer from the bench to the drawer. Using the 1/4" foam core loses you 1/4" of depth in the drawer, and I always seem to have that one tool that sticks up and rubs on the next drawer up, or blocks the drawer from closing correctly.

As soon as Adam opened the draw my eyes immediately locked onto the blue and silver folding one. I’m like 99% sure (I’m only a few seconds into the video at the moment) that’s a “Kincrome” branded knife, and I’m that certain of that, cause I used to use the exact same knife at work for opening bags of sugar, cutting the wrapping off pallets, or whatever else I needed a knife for. I used one of them so much that all the anodising has worn off the handling surfaces, so it’s just the silver and bare aluminium now xD

Fair enough - I’ve got a bunch of different blades which should be in the same place, but they are not. Although I have to say finding a drawer and throwing them all in there would be more than enough organisation for me.
@tiacho2893 Жыл бұрын
I think Adam went into this once. There is logic to grouping like things together like sockets and wrenches. But when you use a couple or one repeatedly (wrenches for router collet nuts) it is better to keep one where it is most used. On a lot of IKEA furniture I use cheap clips to hold the included hex wrenches in a hidden spot. So I never have to hunt for a hex wrench in a drawer.
@mm9773 Жыл бұрын
@@tiacho2893 Oh yeah - I don’t really subscribe to that, but I do keep a hex key on my drill stand to make quick adjustments, for example. But keeping all the blades in one place would save me a lot of hassle.

I have a knife drawer and as you say they're just in there. Organized to an extent but not with any dividers or anything like that. That drawer is where I store knives I don't use much. @1pcfred Жыл бұрын
Adam seemed to say he really doesn't use the weird blades so much. Which is largely true in my experience. The small 30° No. 11 blade is the bread and butter X-Acto knife. It's the one I want almost all the time.
@transmundanium Жыл бұрын
My take on organizing blades & handles would be to put the blades at the back. I am less likely to need a new blade than I am to need a specific type of knife.
@1pcfred Жыл бұрын
I have a comprehensive X-Acto collection and I mostly just use the No. 11 blade. Almost exclusively in fact. So the point where the utility of all the other blades X-Acto makes is seriously questionable. I've certainly tried using them for various tasks. The reality is 11 is the one I need.
