Adam Silver said the Celtics handled the Ime Udoka suspension appropriately and that the NBA takes workplace misconduct seriously. Boston suspended Udoka for one year and he no longer works for the organization as of last week, when the Celtics named Joe Mazzulla his replacement as the head coach of the team. Silver also spoke about load management and other NBA issues before the All Star Game.

Ime and the staffer were told to knock it off. They were given a chance to have it swept under the rug. Apparently ime kept pushing. That is why he got exposed. It's completely and utterly his own fault.

Its laughable you think the staffer is the reason why this happened? Try someone far higher up.

@MsCF98 don't try and be the smartest person in the comments. It makes a fool of you. All I'm saying is they were warned. Ime and the staffer were told. Ime continued to contact the staffer, and he won a stupid prize. They gave him a chance, he made the wrong decision.

@@ABullboy If that's the case then why didn't they fire him to begin with? Instead of suspending him and waiting till the middle of the season to part ways? I mean if they have cause they should've done it in the first place. Unless this isn't the real reason he's gone now..
@ABullboy

@MsCF98 i do not know why they did not fire him. Maybe because he's a man of power in a multibillion dollar sports league. Probably because they wanted to give him an opportunity to not screw up his life after just going to the finals. And probably because he's a good coach, and it's best if this would simply disappears. Unfortunately, Ime did not heed the warnings and continued to contact the married chick until she told the team on him.

@@ABullboy He has no real power beyond his coaching staff. He couldn't hire or fire that team services manager because she doesn't work for him she works for the Celtics and got the job through nepotism in the first place. He was no threat to her if she didn't want to have an affair with him. More like she got caught and tried to save face. Surely if it transpired the way people say he would've been fired or arrested for stalking. So why wasn't he?

That's the league office's job to oversea situations like these- not the individual basketball team.

Why, Gary Washburn? Let it go man. No, the C's did not handle it properly. We all know that. Time to move on and get past this. We have a championship to win. F everything else.

@@user-ze6ns9pq2y Let me be clear. Letting him go, I do agree with. How what happened was made public, instead of being kept and delt with in house, I don't agree with. For that reason alone, I don't think they handle it properly.

@@mr.washington3075 In a perfect world perhaps that would be possible. I think they would have preferred to do so, but I think they were between a rock and a hard place here. Udoka wasn't just some second-rate coach. He was just in the Finals, and I just can't see how they would have not been under intense scrutiny to take such drastic measures and say no comment. I appreciate your views sir. Stay well.

They were heading that direction anyway. Phil Jackson gets all the credit for the Bulls, but they were also headed that way under the coach that developed them, who MJ chose as his first coach on the Wizards I believe. If Ainge hadn't left, and promoted Stephens, Stephens would have taken that same roster to the finals, and perhaps won. Stephens did a lot with very little while they were rebuilding.

@@Ilicet Brad had that team for 8 years and never made the Finals. Udoka did it in his first season. Regardless its funny you mention the Bulls, Doug Collins got ousted from the Bulls for a similar situation that Udoka was in.
