I quite liked how Alan Moore added him in the classic Saga of the Swamp Thing.

Great video. I'm glad you are covering less known characters in DC. I'm a long time Marvelite, but definitely want to get into DC now that I'm older. For some reason the obscure and forgotten characters like Adam Strange, the Challengers of the Unknown and the original Vigilante and Mr. Terrific interest me most!

I really need that Adam Strange omnibus. Or at least a jet pack and a ray gun!

I have a black and white DC Showcase volume which has 35 of these stories in. This was how we would have seen them in the UK at the time in any case so I was never really too fussed about the lack of colour. But now I've seen your edition, the colours really make the images zing. I guess I now have book envy...

I was really happy when this book came out! Now where’s my Hawkman!?

If astronomers ever discover an Earth-sized planet in the habitable zone around Alpha Centauri, I sure hope that they name it “Rann”. The forward for the DC Archive edition of Adam Strange says that in 1957 DC wanted to create two new science-fiction heroes - one set in the present and one set in the future. Jack Shiff got the first choice and went with the future setting, which featured “Space Ranger”. Julius Schwartz was delighted that he got the present-day adventurer, whom he named “Adam Strange”. Schwartz assigned Gardner Fox to write the series. Space Ranger has since faded into obscurity.

I’ve never seen a Space Ranger comic.

More likely to name it after a Roman god such as Vulcan.

@@michaelk.vaughan8617 Mystery in Space was the name of the comic he appeared in some of the same comics as Adam Strange but both were replaced by Ultra The multi-alien.

Adam Strange is one of my favorites, and the team ups with Hawkman are outstanding. I have complete silver age runs of both. Right up there with Superman!

My favorite DC Comics hero. I couldn't get enough space science fiction when I was young. Our local newspaper did not feature Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon, but I was fortunate enough to get to read a lot of the Mystery In Space comic books.

Never read any Adam Strange. Will need to try him out.

Of course I heard of Adam Strange and the Zeta beam that teleported him through space, also Space Ranger another space character and his assistant Cryll that transformed into different alien forms before Ben 10. Rann is not spelled same as Ron.

I just saw a page by page review and the art looks amazing! I never heard of this character before and def buying this omnibus

Yeah, he’s definitely one of DC’s lesser known characters. This set of stories is wonderful and I’m pretty sure you will like them.

Mystery in space comics had Adam Stranger and Space Ranger and they were replaced by Ultra the multi-Alien, but that series didn't run near as long.

Gosh, Indiana Jones not an original idea - who woulda thought it ? 🤣 Are DC Comics run by the 3 Stooges ? And no Sgt Rock Omnibus either. What a bunch of dummies. I had to go off and read the Gardner Fox wiki of course. He did a 'Crom the Barbarian' series ! Interesting.

I really enjoy Marvel silver age (I have many of their omnibus), but the internet seems to agree that DC's silver age should be avoided and forgoten. Regardles, I think Adam Strange is one omni I would enjoy (Flash seems to be fun as well). Thanks for your video.

First, how do I get a Superman tie? I'd prefer a Batman tie, but I'll take what I can get. Most importantly, I love the early Adam Strange stories -- now that I know about it, it may be the first omnibus I buy. I'm somewhat older than Michael and so was picking up the occasional Mystery in Space floppy. Fantastic stories! Interesting that one of the stories featured a team-up with Hawkman and Hawkgirl, because even as a very young teen I appreciated what Hawkgirl (more importantly "Hawkworman," if nothing else than to keep Karar out of trouble with the law) contributed to the series, along with Alanna.

I would give almost anything for a Hawkman Omnibus. That is one of my favorites.

Indiana Jones is more like Hunter Allen Quartermain in movie King Solomon's mine in 1937 has a colorized version of movie you can see if type in where it says search above. Hawkman reprint DC Showcase presents Hawkman printed in 2007 reprinted stories from 1961 to 1966.
