My grandson (who just had his first birthday) has been making a sound like he's rolling his R's, so I played this for him (because let's face it, no one rolls their R's quite like Adam Ant!). He was totally enthralled and dancing to the beat. Thank you Adam Ant for making fun music that is enjoyed by many generations!

Just replayed this album for the first time in 30 years - no idea how I survived this long without it !!! That double drum sound is infectious and unique. Rancheros could easily have been another hit single off this album - had it on replay for the past 15 mins :-) :-)

@michaellavery4899 I'm 52 and it was my first album .always wanted Adam ants cavalier jacket as a kid.. never got one.. my first single was going underground. The jam..
@michaellavery4899 Жыл бұрын
@@leemurray7240 The cavalier jackets on sale were tat. Just cheap printed imitations, so you probably did yourself a favour by not wasting good money. A jacket like Adam's would have cost you a small fortune. I can't remember if I bought Antmusic or Dog Eat Dog first. I too liked The Jam but was too young to fully appreciate the lyrics but understood The Specials. Although I came from a nice part of Glasgow, a bus ride into the city centre took me through some really grim places. So much of Glasgow was in dire need of redevelopment which only began due to European grants when we were awarded to the City of Culture in 1988. How they decided that is beyond me. Sorry, I'm waffling now.🤪

@michaellavery4899 The jacket that Adam wears in the "Antmusic" and "Kings of the Wild Frontier" videos is the same jacket that David Hemmings wore in the film The Charge of the Light Brigade. It is now in the V & A's theatre museum.

KROQ in 1981 was a Godsend of great, quirky, even funny music in those morose months after John Lennon’s death. Adam, Boingo, Talking Heads, B-52s, Ian Dury, Lene Lovich….what an oasis that was. “Rancheros” was absolute Gold in ‘81.

Listen closely at the chorus, when Adam sings "Ranchero eooo" a deep voice in the background is saying "Clint...........Eastwood" Great stuff!!!!

@@garybradley1 Dude, give up , he's saying the name in the background, and not loud and clear. I always remember back in the day when this album the 80's was great clubbing in wigan & to see all the different styles people were wearing due to their taste in music & I can remember in the clubs it was always the Ant fans fashioned like Adam white strip & all vs the Gary numan fans dressed in the boiler suts with the Red strap & eye liner they all looked pretty cool, but definitely it the Adam ants who got top prize for the way they looked & the Dancing, the numan crowd just couldn't touch the energy of the Ant fans, they sure knew how to liven up a Dancefloor & this is one class album
