I remember when this song was released, Adam & The Ants played on the West Side of New York City next to the Intrepid Ship. The band came down the Hudson River on a pirate ship hanging from the ropes and blowing off cannons. The Pirate ship docked next to a stage next to the Intrepid, and the band then ran on to the stage, grabbed their instruments and started playing "STAND AND DELIVER". It was the most Amazing stage entrance I've ever seen by any band ever!

I live next to the pub that Dick Turpin (the legendary highwayman) frequented. It's very loud because of the planes from Heathrow, but I love it.

First record I ever bought. I was 9 (NINE!!) years old. Went into the record shop in Muswell Hill and asked the intimidatingly cool 80s punk girl behind the counter for Adam Ant! Handed my pennies over. I had a homemade record player in my bedroom and I swear I played that 7 inch record so many times it must have disintegrated at some point. I loved him so much! That and Tubby the Tuba got played to death. 😆😂 I moved on to tape and mini disc fairly quickly, but this will always be the first record in my now extensive 80s and 90s vinyl collection. ❤

@dave setchell used to love that song when I was 8 or 9! In school in Friday assemblies we were allowed to listen to a song on the record player. The choice was mull of kintyre or floral dance. Loved them both.

Adam Ant is the most extraordinary looking man. There's not much I wouldn't have done to have him stand and deliver. Rather talented too. What I loved about the 80d was the way music, fashion, art all merged. Vivien e Westward so influential at this time on the London scene.

I graduated from a hick school early when I was sixteen. I left for Alaska, married and had two kids by 1984. I was in UAA at night and working on a huge business plan with friends and their contacts. There were actual disco clubs in Anchorage then and heard Stand and Deliver the first time. I wish my kids could have comprehended how these videos changed everything!! No computer renderings...actual videos of acting! Fyi...divorced in 1987...lol.

Thank you for the memories here of course. Their first number one here in Britain in 1981-the other being Prince Charming later that same year. I think the video was filmed at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire, to the north of London, from what I can remember by Mike Mansfield at the time. Like nearly all their hits it is really wonderful somehow. It followed on from their album Kings of the Wild Frontier of course at the time. Well done too!!

I will say that this and few of his other songs got a lot of heavy play on early MTV back in the mid-80's as MTV needed just about any video they could find in those early days and many were British New Wave as groups in England seemed to embrace MV's a bit early than American acts did, so you saw a lot of British New Wave in those early days.

My older sister (RIP) born in '69 used to listen to this so much. She was like many teenagers back then, totally emerged in the music of that era. She was a rocker mainly but listened to just about anything from Madonna, to Pet Shop boys, to Blondie or Judas Priest. She was only like 12 or 13 at that time.. went to concerts with her friends at that age..lol.
