I met Adam Ant back in 1983 when he came to do a concert at Lafayette College. I was working at the Sheraton where they stayed. They put me on a guest list for the concert. Afterwards I was invited to their room for an after party. Had a great time no(alcohol or drugs) jus t music and great conversation. Bunch of great guy's. Those were the days.

They're over all healthier than we are. But yeah, what you said because you heard how the refer to themselves as grass eaters and meat eaters somewhere at some time. Me too in Jr High (8th grade). Anyone else remembering wearing pins from your favorite bands on your clothes, & leather jackets? I remember one friend wearing Boy George, John Taylor, Depeche Mode, Robert Smith, & Morrissey Smith pins, another Def Leppard, Van Halen, D2, & Police, while I had Adam Ant, Simon LeBon, Michael Jackson pins. Getting excited when the latest teen mag had a picture spread This was my favorite AA song, & basically my theme song during middle & high school years since I was religiously repressed, & couldn't even talk to school friends outside of school time, or even allowed to go to a single school dance. Needless to say, I embodied a goody two shoes perfectly. No drinking. No smoking. Not even cursing. But once freed from insanely religious parental control, & began living my own life after being thrown out of their house for discussing moving😊😢when turned 18, that's when my real life really began. There were lots of friends, live concerts, clubs, dancing, drinking, bars, more concerts, watching band rehearsals in friends' garages & sound studies, bon fires at beaches, more drinking, housedrinking, Harley's & too much fun. Being an adult hasn't always been easy, but it's beat the hell out of my childhood. Waited until almost 30yo before having any kids allowed for lots of time for fun before the extra responsibilities parenting brings.😊😊😢

@@mallshopper8948 I think tbh it's s rose tinted glasses thing- having grown up through the 80s sure the music was cool, but all the other shit going on made you want to go back to a purer time when politicians weren't such obvious self-serving wankers and we didn't all fear getting carried away and "WWIII" starting with another crisis in politics straight out of the 60s. It wasn't an easy time to grow up in and of course good art needs suffering, the more painful a decade is the better the art is. although Brexit was a shit show. :P kzbin.info/www/bejne/poCUeXZupa2NrZI

I watched his documentary, and I must say this song pretty much sums up who he was. He didn't drink, didn't smoke, didn't do drugs. He wasn't gay, and loved women too much. So the media had to make something be wrong with him, and they ridiculed him! They went out there and found something to nail him with, and they found his father: the reason for him being a goody two shoes. He didn't drink and drugs because of his father and his hard childhood. How sad is that? Listening to this song now knowing all that the lyrics make more sense. I'm late to the party, I know, but I just found it interesting.

Here are the real lyrics!! With the heartbreak open So much you can't hide Put on a little makeup, makeup Make sure they get your good side, good side If the word's unspoken Gets stuck in your throat Send a treasure token, token Write it on a pound note, pound note Goody two, goody two, goody goody two shoes Goody two, goody two, goody goody two shoes Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do? You don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do? Subtle innuendos follow There must be something inside We don't follow fashion That'd be a joke You know we're going to set them, set them So everyone can take note, take note When they saw you kneeling Crying words that you mean Opening their eyeballs, eyeballs Pretending that you're Al Green, Al Green Goody two, goody two, goody goody two shoes Goody two, goody two, goody goody two shoes Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do? You don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do? Subtle innuendos follow Must be something inside No one's gonna tell me What's wrong and what's right Or tell me who to eat with, sleep with Or that I've won the big fight, big fight Look out or they'll tell you You're a "Superstar" Two weeks and you're an all-time legend I think the games have gone much too far If the word's unspoken Gets stuck in your throat Send a treasure token, token Write it on a pound note, pound note Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do? You don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do? Subtle innuendos follow: Must be something inside, he's hidin' Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do? Ya don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do? Subtle innuendos follow: Must be something inside, he's hidin' Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do? Ya don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
