This series just brings big smiles. You're a good interviewer Adam. I played with you on your first trip to San Francisco at an outdoor rave back in 92-93. The local sheriff threatened to come out and shut it down because you kept getting on the mic and shouting stuff about Brooklyn. You played banging acid tracks your whole set I hooked you up with Donna Summer's 'I feel Love' and had a bunch of NY DJs come out asking me for it -sold em for $100 a pop. Helped me pay my rent ; ). Good times. Can't wait to see you interview Frankie!

Ah so crazy to hear from you Graeme. My bro and I were literally just talking about this amazing record from you last week www.discogs.com/release/170986-DJ-Graeme-Illectric-Ghetto (no lie!) I remember the party, it was called Felix & it was about 1 hour and half hours north of Frisco in a field. I don't recall my set or getting on the mic but I do remember Derrick Carter played the Patrick Cowley remix of Donna Summer, I Feel Love at around 8AM on some insane for the time Turbo rig, one of you told me a store in SF had a copy. I don't remember the shop or going there but stillI have and cherish the record from that trip...and man was that mission the trip ;)

Graeme awesome to hear from you and also coincidental. My brother and I were literally just talking last week about how good your "Back To The Future " release is. I have vague memories of that rave. It was called Felix ( I still have the fllyer for it) and it was 1.5 hours north of SF. I don't recall my set at all but I remember Derrick Carter playing on this field with the dust kicking up at sunrise on a Turbo rig, He dropped the Patrick Cowley remix of I Feel Love. This was the first time I heard it and was blown away. I remember one of you told me that a shop in SF had it and then I went and got it the next day. I have no recollection of the shop I bought it in. I still have it in my collection! (to death due me part with it;) What a trip(pun intended) down memory lane :)

@@sonicgroove5395 Hey Adam thanks for the love. In fact I played Donna Summer and you asked me about it and you got it at the Record Rack in the Castro. Onionz came out a few weeks later and I sold him a copy and then a few other East coast DJs came out and I sold some more. Yes the party was called Feel-X and DJ Dan and I hung out with you in the morning. Feel-X became Funky Tekno Tribe and Joey Beltram played at one of the parties a few years later and played a wicked set. I live in paris now- hit me up if you ever come through. Peace.

Great insight, great philosophies. I'm very glad I've stumbled upon these podcasts. I'm irritated that I'm so late to the party though. Loved Acid Masters records, Acid Flash, Equinox, early Xperimental etc P.S. The Toxic Two Remix of Tim Taylor - The Horn Track is vastly underrated. Massive at Knowledge at SW1 Club.

@sonicgroove5395 Yet another super informative interview with a barrage of sidestories and anecdotes being unleashed. Thanks Adam :) Hailing from Copenhagen it's also nice to witness the brief shout out to DJ Duke @ Mars, who happened to be a pioneer of early break dancing, scratching and street culture in general way back in Denmark. He even came third in the DMC 1987 World Technics Championships. Klaus

@@SonicGroovePodcast Well Adam, basically because the man deserves it. He's such a nice guy, known worldwide, and a walking encyclopidia about electronic music, he has so many stories to tell and his turning 67 years old. How his little apartment, in tiny Belgium, with Sabine turned into a studio which created so many classics on the R&S label, is pretty unique. Oh, I would so like to hear all the stories about R&S, stories about Joey Beltram, Cj Bolland, Outlander, Juan Atkins, Richard D James, Dave Angel,... I think you're a great fan of R&S and Belgian techno so that's why I asked. R&S is featured in all of the three Sonic Groove Podcasts so far 😉 You would be perfect to do that interview; you're a great interviewer with lots of knowledge and I think you could make this happen and I have no doubt that it will be an epic interview because you know and appreciate R&S had a great influence worldwide. Maybe I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure you want to interview him 😉 And I'm from Belgium, that's another reason 😀
@sonicgroove5395Ай бұрын
@@ibojohnson This is Adam here, the producer of the show asked the question above. I am not opposed to interview Renaat at some point but I just did CJ Bolland and Outlander together which has a lot of discussion about the early days of R&S so I want to keep a diverse mix of artists for now.
