It's not rocket science to understand that as someone with a platform you have a responsibility to answer for the content you put out. Yes, these 18-22 year old kids are willingly giving you juicy content for your platform. However, at 38, you have to know better. I can agree that you don't necessarily have to interview people on personal feuds to conduct a good interview with someone. Personally I am not as interested in feuds as I am music, performance and process. However, what they have ignored is that the interviewee will usually have some control over what is put out. If they don't wish to discuss something they don't have to, and usually they can ask for certain things to be edited out if they do not feel comfortable with it being in the final cut. They chose to share this information, so ultimately the control is with the interviewee. These guys have completely ignored this, or suggested that they are exploited to divulge because they are on a bigger platform when that simply isn't the case. The profiteering off black trauma I could see where they were coming from, but they didn't paint it well. If they had said podcasters should generally avoid trauma in general, then that's a fair enough stance. Not everybody is going to follow that, but that's a line they draw and that would of been fine. However, once they said he as a white person is profiteering off black trauma, that is ridiculous. It implies that somebody like Joe would have more right to ask these questions than Adam22. Thing is, Joe doesn't really get to make that decision. He can interview how he wishes on his podcast and he may believe his interviews are just as good or better, and that's fine. However, Adam22 also has a choice how he runs his. We as viewers/listeners have a choice to either listen or not. Also as a general thing, I think a good interview does show elements of struggle or trauma. A lot of rap music comes with a need to prove credibility, so a lot of guys will talk about their issues to back up what they rap about. It also helps to paint a better picture of the person, and it can also show some of their negative traits. Adam22 clearly knows the artists, does his research, is a fan, but also is willing to ask things that others aren't, just because they are paid to keep people in a positive light. These dimensions of people their good and bad, do make for a much more interesting interview.

Yes Adam22 can make a case for why there's nothing wrong with what he does. He gives young artists visibility, they are usually legal adults who can not to come on, etc. People like those in the video are not saying that he's not allowed to do what he does, but rather that he shouldn't. The point that he doesn't seem to understand is that a large percentage (if not the majority) of the community he profits off of has zero respect for what he does.
