Andrew Litton and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra visited the London 'Proms' in 1997 and followed a performance of Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony with a couple of encores. First they treated the 6,000-strong Royal Albert Hall audience to Gershwin's 'Promenade' (the 'Walking the Dog' sequence from the Fred Astaire / Ginger Rogers movie 'Shall We Dance'). The second encore was the theme tune of the then very popular US TV soap-opera "Dallas."
You can see the Tchaikovsky 5th finale, plus the same two encores, via this link ...

Dallas is a treasure. I know of no other city with a theme song, much less a recognizable theme song. And our Cowboys are loved all over the world. Dallas and the numerous suburbs make it one of the most glorious cities in the world. I love it here and i will forever call this home.

There's some extraordinary melodic magic in both George/Ira Gershwin and Jerrold Immel. Can't knock commercial music. Gershwin was at his best with Tin Pan Alley and Immel's work with television would have made both equally appreciate each other's music, had they been contemporaries. I am sure of that.

In one of the early episodes, Pam & Bobby take Lucy out, on the town. What do we see? Pam boogieing, to the DISCO VERSION, of Jerrold Immel's tune! Funny, that!

@adam28xx

You clearly have no knowledge of the history of the Promenade concerts! ... They were specifically created for a wide informal audience who would pay low prices and come casually dressed. The word "promenade" in the title meant that they could walk around if they wished. In fact, all the people immediately in front of the orchestra, in what is called the Arena, would stand throughout the entire concert. Only the rest of the audience was seated. In any case, the whole point of the Proms was to get away from the stuffiness of formal dress, which is why they attracted many young people ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Proms

I'm not disputing your opinion concerning concert dress; I just have never heard 'respectless' used rather than 'disrespectful'. I am in the U.S., so obviously my grasp of the fundamentals of the English language is tenuous at best. I am simply curious as to whether 'respectless' is widely used in common vernacular in the U.K. Considering I am a native of a nation who insists on spelling 'colour' sans the 'u'; you can't expect much from me.
