Adama's 'So Say We All' Story at Battlestar Galactica Exhibit in Seattle

I had the honor of attending opening night at the Battlestar Galactica Exhibit in Seattle, WA, where cast members and creators hopped on stage to answer the fans' buzzing questions. One of my favorite moments was Olmos's story of what happened on set during the first "so say we all" speech.

Listening to him drop his voice and add the rough affect for Adama at 2:42 was incredible. You literally hear him become Adama to say the line.

I have a signed picture of Olmos and he signed it "so say we all - Admiral Adama" totally without being asked to, when I got out of sight of him I gotta say I had a few tears in my eyes. What an absolute honor it was to meet him in person.

Richard Hatch signed mine the same way. He was also a wonderful man and actor. I was able to chat uninterrupted for 10 mins easy at a convention. I was able to thank him for getting my wife into a scifi show for the first time. The cast all seemed like great people and talented actors.

Imagine having the confidence as an actor to take command of that moment and tell the director what you need to make the scene work, and pull it off. That’s an amazing awareness from Olmos.

If you are a military Veteran, or played a lot of team sports, you will understand the effect something like this will have on a group of people, who VASTLY depend on each other for survival/success. The power of brotherhood/sisterhood combined, is an awesome thing!

Eddie has got so much foresight he knew, just like Dean Stockwell (RIP) knew, that BSG was something very special when they were working on it. The fact we're already moving into the territory of computer virus terrorism, cyber hacking, I.O.T., drone warbot deployment and super-smart A.I. development, which the BSG series warned us about, looms so large that we don't have to wait another 50 years to see how prescient BSG is.

He's completely right about how the show feels down the road. I binged all of BSG reimagined in 2020 - early 2021, just over 1 decade later and it's honestly uncanny how it resonated with the climate we are facing now. It's all happened before and it will all happen again, indeed.

Reminds me of one of the little stories behind the movie "A Knight's Tale": When Chaucer first introduces "Sir Ulrich" in his speech, the crowd doesn't react at first because the Czech extras didn't understand the speech. Mark Addy's loud prompt was what tipped them off to start cheering. The awkward moment was left in because it made the scene more funny.

I am the former navy and serves in the fleet on two frigits in a destroyer, Just wanna say you had the military terminology right on the money. Using terms like wait one, and Galactica actual, is exactly what we would do in the military special in the navy I’ll know there’s some strange stuff I’m still trying to figure out in your show, and I remember the 1980 series which this is a far cry from, it is one great show

When the XO, all bitter after New Caprica, was giving Gaeta hard time in the CIC, Adama's 'SAUL!" made me jump. There's no other actor who could've pulled Adama off like EJO!

This is so truth. From the very first episode I saw where the Cylons launch the missiles from space. It was as if I was a witness of what is to be come of us all. To the first arrival to a planet where the destruction was so complete nothing was left not a building or person was found. So once again BSG crew had to move in hopes to fine another planet where they could call home. " So say we all" I knew we were all in this together for better or worse, live or die we must continue....

I had no clue that this was the first scene they ever shot of the show. You had established characters at this point when its used. That Olmos pulls this out of him? Did they ONE TAKE THAT??!! This speaks volumes for that cast and just how important his words were....When they announced Olmos i knew him from his appearances on the West Wing, nothing else. I knew even then if it was written right he could steal the show...but NOTHING prepared me FOR THAT.

i devoted Years of my Childhood and young adult years to the original battlestar and the Re-imagined.after a few years on other franchises, i am revisiting the universe of battlestar and i have forgotten how good it is.the highs,the lows,i feel the show lost its way a bit towards the end of Season 3 and early 4.but it ended beautiful.i hope when we are past all the issues of 2022, we will start to get Celebrities traveling to Australia again for conventions.

I own the series, so I guess I am a big fan. Mr. Olmos has always been one of my favourite actors from Miami Vice when I was a kid, to Blade Runner to BSG. I also discovered Alice Cooper about 5 years ago. I noticed something about his song, ''Clones' - so aren't we all". Since then, I have wondered if there was not some 'tip of the hat' to Alice in the writing and naming of the character Clone 6. If not, oh well, it is still a cool similarity.

God, I wish I could turn back time. I got to go to this exact exhibit at the EMP museum years ago, but at the time I was still very young, and didn't see BSG as anything more than a Star Wars ripoff. I didn't pay attention at all, and I'm still kicking myself years later.

While it wasn't until a month or two after the opening I did get a chance to see it and the full-size Vipers were really something. However I was on a first date with a girl and she of course was more interested in the rest of the EMP so I couldn't hang around at the exhibit as long as I may have liked.

One makes a statement (usually of belief) and the rest agree with the statement (So say we all / so we all say.)
