I could understand Mr Freeze with a freeze gun, but a flamethrower makes no sense.

b&w icon actor aka The Falcon George Sanders is the best Mr. Freeze on 1966 episodes of BATMAN!

I'm so happy you do this series. Adam West and Burt Ward don't get enough love. This show literally got me into reading comics, and it's a treat watching your reviews!

I love this show. Adam West is my favorite Batman. Campy-ness and all. It's a breath of fresh air, from all that, "Dark brooding, bad bad bad" stuff. Its refreshing and these reviews just make it more funny.

George Sanders was the best Mr Freeze and was seriously done. The other 2 actors who played him were more campy.

Thanks for the memories. There was counter programming on another channel proving to be the nemeses to me from watching more of these during it's original run. Turns out Mom couldn't hang with the laws of physics and we had to watch The FBI (in color). At 7:03, where Mr. freeze is entering into the van.... it's nice to see that the design of fire extinguishers haven't changed, all that much!

If Commishioner Gordon and Mayor Linseed advised all of Gotham City to turn their heaters on high, that might stop Mr Freeze completely.

Fun fact: Mr. Freeze was played by the same man who voiced Shere Khan in Disney’s The Jungle Book.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't really looked into it before, but now that I do, I can't find anywhere else that he was ever called Dr. Schimmel. Are there any?

Irving's Zoo I don't know. I do know that he was originally called Mr. Zero in the comics and they changed it to Mr. Freeze for the TV show. They may have just made up the alias.

***** It wouldn't surprise me. Now all I can think is "Mr. Zero. The original inspiration for the Beatles' 'Nowhere Man.'"
@Optimegatrongodzilla5 жыл бұрын
@@dwashbur That is indeed what happened. The backstory for Mr Freeze that we're all familiar with today was created for "Batman: The Animated Series". The same goes for the name "Victor Fries".
@jimsimpers1275 жыл бұрын
Yes, the character had only appeared once before this, and was known as Mr. Zero. He wore what looked like a spacesuit with a clear fishbowl over his head. He had no backstory. So, the show took the character, renamed him Mr. Freeze, and gave him the alias of Dr. Shivel. That was never used anywhere else except here. The comics and Filmation cartoons kept the Mr. Freeze name, and the the Batman Animated Series later gave us the now-accepted "canonical" origin and name.

3:19 I LOVE the "heat up effect" in Freeze's hideout ... so simple and, at the same time, so effective. Everything in this episode works perfectly, specially the villain ... George Sanders did a great, great job. Too bad they totally missed the point in the subsequent episodes.

Gordon "Who can only exist in temperatures of 50 degrees below zero or more." Actually it should be 50 degrees below zero or LESS, since more than -50 would be anywhere from -49 up through positive 130 degrees F.

Not sure where Molino is but Los Molinos is up in N. Cali.
@criminallyautistic83722 жыл бұрын
Maybe that was what they were referring to. Like Moldavia in Hi Diddle Riddle.

Just addressing this Molino issue. Molino means mill in spanish. It is a last name as well. However in this case I'm going with a wild guess. Molino means Monaco, an European Principality. I think at that time Grace Kelly was the only American turned royal.

I just love the Gotham City police force logic. Batman tells them there's a threat to a foreign princess (OK, she's formerly from Brooklyn. But without the accent. Maybe she went to charm school or something). So they install a special alarm at Batman's request. No security detail. Or, at least one bright enough to question three guys wearing sweaters and toques and a crate without even a cursory examination. Oh, it's some kind of beef from her country. Maybe they said that it was the traditional uniform of Molino delivery persons, and by Monolino law all crates must be delivered at night. Yeah, seems legit, go right on in. Meanwhile, the Caped Crusaders appear to be going off to a drive-in movie or something when the alarm sounds. I mean, if they were on their way to the Princess, they wouldn't need to make an emergency Bat-Turn.
@dwashbur3 жыл бұрын
They had to do the bat-turn because even Batman hadn't invented GPS yet and Robin was holding the map upside-down.
