Adam Audio really reshaped my understanding of value in studio monitors and speakers. I've had several pairs- ARTist 5, T7V, and A7X. I'm so glad I found these early on as it really set the benchmark. The T series are really game-changers in their price range.

@@davidhrzenjak First, have you ever owned high-end studio monitors? Or used digital room correction software, treatment, etc? If I'm being honest, the A7Xs are a bit better in the low-end (they are faster and have more definition/texture) but that doesn't warrant the price increase in my mind. The improved low-end of the A7X definitely doesn't matter if you're using a subwoofer (which is necessary for full range sound). My recommendation is to get a pair of Adam T5V and pair it with a good sealed subwoofer (some good brands are SVS and Martin Logan) and use SonarWorks, REW +EqualizerAPO (or MiniDSP) to room correct. Don't bother getting a sub from a studio monitor brand like Adam or Genelec - they're overpriced for what they offer.

Having read all the comments and responses, Adam is not playing around. Full transparency and a new product for the audio creative on a budget. I still would like to know this, given the impressive range of this new speaker in the low end does it still require a subwoofer or is that merely for full range comfort? I've never owned a pair of studio monitors but I want to upgrade my home studio I've been mixing and even mastering purely on headphones. My latest single came out yesterday 'Wicked Fly' and again most of that work went in at home. I need to hear what an engineer/producer in a studio would hear. I also create and score film so it needs to be versatile. Finally I'm not rich so it needs to not break the bank lol. Yesterday was my birthday too btw 👌🏾
@ADAMAudioBerlin4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for watching & happy birthday! With the T8V, we would suggest that a subwoofer is not necessary and it isn't required. A subwoofer isn't necessarily required for the T7V either, but some individuals need that extra extension. We'd suggest just getting monitors for the time being and, if after awhile, you find yourself still wanting that deeper low-end to go for a sub, but for most, these will do wonderfully without. Hope that helps!

It's my first set of monitors, and I'm using them for my fledgling home theater setup. They're not an ideal room setup. I sit about 2-3 feet further back than I should be. I have a bare wall behind me. The speakers aren't far enough away from the wall behind them for a rear port (according to internet wisdom). They are connected to my TV via a custom made 3.5mm jack to XLR Left and right that is wired as single-end because of reasons. Not an ideal room or setup by any stretch. And they sound pretty damned awesome. I don't listen to bass heavy music, but I play Beat Saber, and they certainly deliver the lows. They are about 6-7' to the left and right of my TV and the sound seems like it comes right from the TV, even if I sit way off axis. I'm happy with them.

I'm thinking about T7V or T8V for EDM production. Does T8V have same headroom, stereo sound and frequency response like T7V?
@ADAMAudioBerlin4 жыл бұрын
The T8V actually has more headroom & SPL (118dB) as well as a deeper low-end extension (33 Hz) in the frequency response. Both monitors utilize our waveguide technology and ART tweeters so you get the same wide sweet spot with low-distortion high end up to 25 kHz. It depends on your room size & dimensions, but for EDM, we'd have to give the suggestion to the T8V so you can make sure you hear that ultra low-end kick & bass.

So am I to understand that the front-facing low frequency ports on the AX series offer no advantage over rear-facing, if the speaker isn’t put against the wall?
@ADAMAudioBerlin4 жыл бұрын
One aspect to consider is the phase alignment between all the speaker’s sound sources... With a port next to the woofer, the relative distance offset between you and the port vs you and the woofer varies only by a tiny amount when changing your listening position. This stable relationship makes for an optimal addition of the sound portions coming from the woofer and the port at most listening angles. A rear ported design will be more sensitive in terms of bass addition when going extremely off axis. That being said, this is a pretty academic argument that you might be able to measure in an anechoic chamber but it’s nothing that will affect many users having their speaker oriented properly. Also, front facing ports allow for soffit mounting. Hope this helps and let us know if you have any further questions!

Hi! I'm planning on buying some T7V/NEW T8V or A7X monitors. So, the issue I'm concerned about is whether I'm potentially wasting money putting the A7X monitors into a thoroughly undesirable room? There is no chance of me being able to treat the room in my current house :(
@ADAMAudioBerlin4 жыл бұрын
Hi Almaz, as you already know, your room is just as important as your monitors... ultimately, if you really need studio monitors but can't treat your room in any way, I'd suggest smaller monitors like the T5 or A5X for now to not overpower your room. The other option is you get the monitors and just make sure to listen low as to not excite the room as well until you are in a space that allows for room treatment. Hope that makes sense & helps. If you have any other questions just let us know!
@Writtenmirror4 жыл бұрын

I have the T7V which I absolutely love, paired with a monitor sub-woofer as I do lots of bass and low end. So the low frequencies are taken care of already I think and the 1" larger driver of the T8 would not provide much more but as I occasionally use the setup for small parties, would it make sense to upgrade to the T8V just for the extra loudness over the T7? (110 vs 118db) Thanks

As much as we'd like to help, this seems like a subjective question for that scenario. We do support the choice for good speakers at parties and yes you will get significantly more SPL out of the T8Vs... whether or not your party guests will notice, we can't be for sure 😉

@ADAMAudioBerlin4 жыл бұрын
Hi, we appreciate you watching and commenting! Regarding your room treatment question, we always urge people to spend just as much time and energy on treating their room as choosing the right monitors... as they both are the most important factors in a studio, so yes we would definitely suggest treating it as much as you can and we have many videos on studio acoustics, design etc and many more to come. As far as persuading you to purchase the T8Vs over HS8s, it's a difficult thing to do without listening to them side by side. We are obviously partial to the T8Vs, but both are good choices for home production. Our T8Vs do, however, go lower than the HS8s and are more 'pleasing' to the ears while still being just as accurate with our accelerated ribbon technology (which we also have in-depth videos on). Again, we hope that you can listen to them side by side as that is the definite selling point.

@ADAMAudioBerlin4 жыл бұрын
Hi good question! While the optimal mixing position is that distance, you might not always be the only one in that room. You may have clients in the back that want to hear the music not only accurately, but loudly as well.. thus why SPL and amperage is an important factor when making monitors of this size. Hope that clears things up!
@markusrayan4 жыл бұрын
Currently own the T7V's and T10S. Strongly considering replacing both with the T8V. Are the T8Vs a good alternative to replacing both T7V + T10S considering it's crucial that the low end extension remains the same (producing House, Drum'n Bass, UK Bass, Garage etc.)? Is the overall tonality of the T8V similar to the T7V? While the T7V are really good and have liked them a lot the T10S is a difficult sub to recommend. It lacks crucial adjustments to make it work properly (fully variable crossover freq. and phase). I feel the crossover freq. (85hz) is too high for the T7V. They have more than enough headroom to go lower than 85hz. But the real problem with the T10S is the really short standby delay and it takes way too long after a signal is sensed that it actually starts outputting sound. This is also accompanied with a really annoying pop. This really takes me out of my flow when producing. I really don't want to wait for my sub to turn on every time I step out of the studio and come back.
@ADAMAudioBerlin4 жыл бұрын
Hi! We're sorry the T10s is not working for your current setup, but we can assure you that the T8V would be a great choice, giving you accurate, deep low-end information for the genres you mentioned above. We hope when they're available that you can try the T8V out for yourself from a dealer/distributor before you purchase to hear how they work in your room. Good question and if you have any others don't hesitate to reach out.

@@ADAMAudioBerlin Thank you for your reply! Great to see a company actually have customer service. Well done! Will be sure to give the T8Vs a test. They seem very good for the money 👍 Also regarding the rear firing port: I agree that for the low end frequencies it does not make a huge difference if the speaker is rear ported or not. What does have an effect is the lower midrange and upper bass that bleeds out from the reflex port (clearly audible midrange output if you put your ear near the port). If your room is not properly treated behind the speakers this can bounce off the walls and colour the sound (boomy upper bass, weird phase issues in the midrange). I'm using Sonarworks DSP with T7V+T10s and it does mostly fix these issues but would be nice to not have to rely on a software fix for a hardware issue. Thank you again!
@ADAMAudioBerlin4 жыл бұрын
Juhamatti We agree! Room acoustics & treatment should be taken just as seriously as monitor choice and having absorption behind your monitors is ideal. And for many smaller, untreated rooms, it's best to have smaller monitors so the speakers aren't exciting your room & walls too much... Sonarworks helps immensely but room treatment should come first. Cheers 👍

@@ithinkmynameismoo5e You're not going to notice a drastic difference outside of general SPL, and much of it depends on room size. If you have a small room, you don't want your monitors to be too big to overpower your room so we'd suggest the T5Vs in that scenario. If your room is larger and can handle larger speakers, the T7Vs are going to be the way to go, especially if you have clients coming in to work and would like to hear their work played louder. Hello dear Jedi Masters. I just buyed 2 x T8V , and added a Sub T10S... I saw this video and maybe I understand that is not worth to add a sub, since this model has 8"? I made a good choice adding the sub? I will use to turntables, mixer , studio home 30m2. Thank you very much,
@ADAMAudioBerlin3 ай бұрын
Hi @DiegoMartinez-pu6bg! Thanks for your question. This really depends on your needs. If you're a DJ and you'd really like to have a heavy low end, adding a sub to your T8Vs is perfectly fine. Also keep in mind that, by using a subwoofer, the Monitors are being relieved from having to play the lowest frequencies up to the crossover frequency, so the monitors can focus on reproducing the mid- and high-frequencies of the signal resulting in a higher resolution. I hope this helped you out, greetings from Berlin!

Hi! I am looking to upgrade my Yamaha HS7. I have always been interested in upgrading to ADAM Audio. I was looking at the A7X but now I am not sure which would suit me better (A7X or T7V). I use my monitors mainly to curate music for my TY channel (and mixing/mastering but not so often). I live in Ireland and there are no stores where I could test/compare them against my Yamaha or even between your two models. Is there any kind of guidance you can provide to help me go for an educated decision? Thanks in advance.
@ADAMAudioBerlin4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Great question... While we absolutely love the T7Vs, the A7Xs are definitely a step-up in quality due to higher-end & higher-tested components, however if your budget doesn't allow for the A7Xs, the T7Vs (in our opinion) would also be a step up from the HS7s... extremely clear without being harsh. Biggest deciding factor is your budget! Hope that helps...

The T8V has more bass extension, but like all our T Series monitors, are not engineered to the same degree as the AX Series. @@d_lydian Hi! You can definitely utilize the T10s subwoofer with your A7Xs, however the A7Xs can overpower the T10S' SPL making it more difficult to calibrate. If you choose the T10s, it may just take a bit more precise room placement, or eventually, look into a dual-subwoofer system to make sure you've got the most accurate low-end for your monitoring setup.
