@@derchinese7380 idk how common this is for ping pong players, but us tennis players can easily read the spin based off how he first hits the ball. For the most part, the way he moves the racket initially is the way the ball will spin. However, what makes the snake so devastating is that Adam will move the racket quickly in the other direction after he made contact, which really confuses the opponent that doesn't have time to carefully think about what happened.

After watching so many of Adam's games, there're only two ways I've observed that can maximize the chance of beating the "snake" (in fact, his style of long-distance defense). The most effective one, which I've seen a few top-world-ranking players did to him, is hitting the ball right after the ball hits the table. There're two great advantages: first, the ball nearly doesn't have time to fly in an expected direction (the snake); second, Adam is too far to save the ball. This is the key: to beat a professional long-distance defender like him, you need to make him run; you need to shorten the distance to make him get out of his comfort zone. The 2nd way depends on the setting of the place. If it has a high ceiling but not very long, then I saw one top player hit the ball so high, it flies over the limit and Adam couldn't possibly reach. It doesn't matter how good you are, if you play along with his style, you're basically giving him the chance of practice and advantage to beat you. Unfortunately, I've seen many just keep doing it.

Agreed. Hitting Adam's lob right off the bounce also gives you the element of surprise via angle of attack. But better watch out for the 🐍!

I get the feeling Adam's still holding back, especially in the beginning of the matches. He'll likely never admit it, but he probably does it to showcase the players and the sport more than himself. I grew up playing hardbat/sandpaper pong in my youth. Decades later, I've rediscovered my love of the game after watching Adam's channel. Mr. Bobrow, you sir are a gentleman and a great representative of table tennis. Thanks for inspiring new young players and making it fun again for us old timers, no matter the skill level.

Wonderful match, Adam! I got to tell you one of my favorite memories. I played Sally and Darryl Tsao in back-to-back ICC Advanced League matches a few years back where both matches went the full five game distance with deuces somewhat like this match (though the points were not quite as awesome as these). I know I split the two , but unfortunately I do forget which precocious kid I beat. Perhaps Sally or her mom (or dad) knows. I am sure they will recall the match. I know Sally was younger than this 13 year old version, but hopefully was older than the 9 year old version (I really hope so, anyway)... 🏓👍😎🤞😢😇

I love Adams play style he gets aggressive and annoying in the beginning then when his opponent makes a mistake he goes on the defense doing whatever it's called that makes it so the ball goes really high when it bounces and messes his opponent up. It's so dumb and stupid, yet crazily effective.

When i was in boarding school , i was a football player ..One day for the sport boarding schools tournament, they asked me to replace one ping pong player coz he was sick ..I was like 12 years old and i beated a D6 which is far from the best but already a very good player, i even did not know i could play ping pong .. I think Sally has a bright future. Her big disadvantage (I only saw the first 5 games, vid was a bit long for me) was hitting those shots from really high up over her head, once she gets a little bigger and learns to space better, she's going to be phenomenal

I agree! It might not have been intentional on Adam's part, but every time he got a lucky point and it resulted in his match point he would miss on opponent's serve or really early. Then again, maybe those things happened equally often during the rest of the points but weren't included in the highlights since they're unforced errors. I think Adam was nevertheless trying to win.
