I went into a sporting good store to buy a pocket knife. They didn’t have anything I liked. I saw a set of three throwing knives and bought them on a whim. And I was watching one of your tutorials where you were recommending blades for beginners. You showed a set of stainless Smith and Wesson knives and said.” whatever you do, don’t buy these”. That was the set that I had bought.😂 They sucked, but it was enough to ignite a fire in me. I started watching some videos, and then I discovered no spin throwing. I didn’t even know that that could be done. I had to learn it. I went out and immediately bought three sets of knives. Cold steel sure flights, perfect flights, and perfect balance. I just love throwing the perfect balance knives. After just seven days, I was consistently hitting the target at 20 feet throwing no spin. I am absolutely addicted to this. I’m 59 years old and I cannot believe I have lived my whole adult life without throwing knives. Your videos are very helpful. I appreciate you taking the time to make them. Have a knife day.😁

Yup, one Christmas I went with my brother and we bought each other knives and I got throwing knives, over 20 years ago. After months of throwing them hard with no control, I learned I could stick a short throw with no spin. From there, I learned to move further back and also that I can throw almost anything that can stick like that. There's a good underhand half spin too ( I think it's a half spin)

I've been throwing for years, and always had it in my back pocket if you will because I like skill stuff that's just fun. Long time subscriber, and several years back I stumbled across your videos. That's when I perfected my no-spin technique, and ended up getting some better knives. I prefer making my own, but the time involved, and materials that I tend to like can be quite a chore. No offense to you, cuz I know you promote great products, I just can't justify the price of the AceJet Spear set just yet. Currently, I'm using the newer JXE-JXO Thunder knives, and hopefully soon I'll have enough set aside to get a box of the AceJet knives. You're a true teacher, and inspiration in the knife throwing community. For me, it is a sport or game of skill, and I throw as a means of personal entertainment or for party tricks. It also happens to be a great stress releif and break from the work I do. Maybe one day soon I'll have the pleasure of meeting you at a competition! Cheers from Colorado-USA my friend 🔥

I started with no spin with cheap (small, light) knives. It never clicked for me. Then moved to half spin (professional knives) and that worked for me. Still unable to get no spin past 3 meters, probably bad habits picked up from cheap knives. I recommend against starting with cheap knives.

Is there any technique for throwing swords? Obviously I wouldn't try to do that with my Katana, but are there any swords that can be trown like knifes or is this just a wasted idea?
@FriendlySkiesProd
@FriendlySkiesProd 9 ай бұрын
I've found that throwing from certain distances (usually short distance, about 3 to 5 feet) I was either hitting my target with the butt end or just bouncing off the target. I'm throwing either a full spin or half spin. (Smaller knives... about 20 grams) I learned how to use my instincts for my throw by using something I learned from my Pencak Silat guru called the principle of bamboo. It's where your arm acts like bamboo being pulled back loosely and easily, then the release of the bamboo whips forward and stops where the target is. Much like a whip or a lashing stick. (It's a more powerful way to strike at short distances. Compared to a jab, it's more of being slapped with a fist.) So I'm using that technique, the principle of bamboo, to release the throw. And it's super effective, a half rotation can be one and a half rotations at the same distance and my knives are sticking into the target like I'm throwing a straight throw from twice the distance. Is there a term for what I am doing in knife throwing? And if you're interested in learning more about the principle of bamboo, you should check out "the principles of destruction with Pendeker Sanders". It'd be interesting to see a video of you using some of them for knife throwing.

First of all 20 gram knife is really really bad you gonna have Hard time to stick that and rebounces are Wild you Need at least around 200 grams for a knife
@FriendlySkiesProd
@FriendlySkiesProd 8 ай бұрын
@@AdamCeladin yeah you're right, I was mistaken about the 20 grams though, it's a 3.5 inch stainless steel throwing knife and I had the same ones when I was a teenager but they're small and take quite the throw to get em to stick into wood from a distance. I mainly practice aim with a cardboard box from about 5 feet. But they'll definitely stick into an intruder from my bed to my entrance to my living room (20 feet about). The martial arts i study is for hand to hand n I don't have a gun. But honestly, if someone breaks in at night sneaking up towards me in the dark... I'm grabbing my cat who's like 32 pounds, strong AF with sharp ass claws...and throwing him at the fother mucker, then charging him while he's trying to figure out if I really just threw a cat for home defense! You should do a video on how to safely throw a cat at a target, cuz I'm thinking highland games, haggis throwing style. But that spin and throw might wake up my cat and he'd just claw me. The goal is to have Taj (my cat) waking up mid air so he'll have a more aggressive landing ,with the claws. 🤷🏼😂😂. (I'm partially joking about that btw) I did make throwing spikes with the 10 inch nails, added some electric tape for the handle and I flipping love throwing them with the military grip! Awesome tutorial. I've split the wood on an old forklift crate and it easily penetrates an old tin trashcan. It's amazing how much velocity they can get from 10-15 feet.

After a famous channel just posted a video about katana throwing (Shadiversity) where they kept trying to learn to throw full-sized swords to know if it was viable or at least doable in the medieval times and in anime, I can't stop but think if a legendary thrower like Adam Celadin could have thrown it just fine. In my experience , I can get more power and more penetration into wood , from a half spin throw or as you call it " Military Half spin ". I throw a knife as hard as I would throw a baseball , so it buries itself deep into the wood . Ive seen some knife throwers throw a knife like its a dart , without much power , which to me seems pointless . Sure it will stick in soft wood , but thats about it .

Dobry den Pane Celadine! 😊 Have you seen the movie "Ninja Assassin" (2009)? There is a scene where the main character is shown with 9 (3×2 in his right hand and 3 in his left hand) heavy shuriken in his hands the size of your smaller Ace Jet shuriken (or Cold Steel shuriken). He then throws them 3 at a time (I.e. simultaneously) at targets using a 360 degree full body spinning technique for extra power. I have never seen you do these kinds of throws (I.e. 3 shuriken/knives simultaneously 3 times really fast) using a full body spinning technique for much greater power. Can you please do a video replicating that scene in the movie? The scene can be found on KZbin with the keywords "Ninja Assassin Training scene HD" and the shuriken part of this scene is at the 1:45 minute mark. I think it could get you a lot of views and I would love to hear your thoughts on this! :)
@AdamCeladin
@AdamCeladin 8 ай бұрын
Hello yes i have seen and its stupid, never penetration Like that with 3 stars and also throw 3 Shurikens at the same time are super in accurate and that body movement wont give you any extra power not that you could not do it but its not so practical
@roseivory8496
@roseivory8496 8 ай бұрын
@@AdamCeladin Then could you make a video replicating that scene, please? :) I think with an hour of practice, and maybe some help from your Ninja Master friend (I think his name is Yakub?) you could make a very interesting video that might go viral and get your channel many new subscribers! :) Even, if it doesn't work well in real life after some practice then that video could prove to everyone on the Internet that the technique doesn't work :) But, if you do see improvement in that technique after 1 hour of practice then maybe you could keep improving with time to where the technique does actually work and is accurate within 3 meters on a human sized target. Also, why would the 360 degree spinning technique not give more power? Olympic shot put and discus throwers always use this 360 spinning technique to generate more power in their throws. Thank you in advance for your reply! :)

@AdamCeladin well I'm hardly an expert (unlike yourself 😎), but I would be curious about how various shapes and thickness of tips (knives) interact with different materials? Is a thick knife (blade/tip) better at piercing/sticking to soft woods but worse with hard woods...? or how different woods behave with thicker or thinner knife tips....? and potentially how the release might change between target types and hardness...? Or breaking through various materials (a dinner plate, thick plastic, strong leather ect) perhaps even an analog test with a mixture of knives? And then, of course, there is "torture testing" some cheaper knives, hahaha (it would break my heart to watch your good quality knives get abused, but cheap internet knives, meh hahaha) And I know you have covered almost every one of these concepts to some degree, however It might be interesting to see them all incorporated into 1 video 🔪😊 oh and setting up some bottles or cans of cheap soda (soft drink/pop, essentially like off brand coke) and sniping them off things from longer distances would be beautiful. watching you throw is a thing of beauty, I imagine watching you throw into things that "explode" like a shaken can of a carbonated drink would be awesome.... Oh and anything with Cookie 🐕 I've saved dogs before, and when I see that happy dog and know what you saved him from and what he looked like, it makes me feel so happy I want to tear up to see a happy dog running around with an owner/s who care ❤️

Mr Celadin , do you sell knives or can you recommend a supplier of throwing knives for enthusiasts in Australia ? E-Bay doesn't really cut the mustard if you know what I mean when it comes to throwing knives .

Just a bit of positive feedback here: you clearly know what you are talking about, evidently many years of practice, etc. You need to work on your presentation; you are trying to do too much at the same time- we usually see this in folks who are just a bit nervous - perhaps even fairly new to KZbin and want to make a good impression. Suggestion: get a cameraman to handle the recording, not a Go-pro, someone who can record your movements properly. Prepare a script - you don't need to follow this or read from it during your presentation, but it will help you to organize your thoughts so your material will flow better. Perhaps you could prepare three different videos on instinctive, military, and fixed distance throwing so you can concentrate on the details of each technique? Please continue your good work. I have been trying to learn how to throw a knife since I was about 15 years old.

Thank you very much David, i am on KZbin since 2006 (I am video producer for living) and had many Pro Knife Throwing Videos with camera guy but over the years i rather try to keep it simple with easy tips for the beginners and if somebody dont understand i really like to answer in the comments or make another video ,) Also English is not my first Language so sometimes i am hunting for rights words in my mind but of course like you said there is always place for improvement

I have been practicing a single spin. Maybe my knives are too light, but single and half spins present a challenge in force. I can no-spin and half spin, but they never stick as well. What is a possible point of instruction (outside of "just keep practicing" - because duh)?

What is the weight on your knives ? if they are too light it might be problem
@gabby_moloko

@AdamCeladin theyre some fairly decent 8.5 in smith and wesson knives. Actually a nice weight for a shorter knife. I also did have to wrap the handle with some bright cordage to keep from losing them. Nice clean wraps tho! Stay slim and taught for hours of practice
