My 10 year old wrote to Santa, but I don’t think we’ll get it to 11. We also have a 9 year old son. Half the kids in class know but I do believe that the kids that still believe are the ones that want to believe. I don’t mind that, the world is not a good place so a little magic still is not a bad thing. And my kids have watched Terminator, Gladiator, Lotr and much more. So, they are not watching this movie. It sounds horrible. We have watched the school of Rock, though. Back when Jack Black hadn’t sold out.

the whole reason he's doing that is because in the movie they directly state it makes his mother happy, which he knows; he dosen't even write to santa for himself but for his mother, and to make her happy because his family was tearing apart. If you genuinely watched the movie rather then critiquing it you'd notice some nice character developments though not too significant

Group watched this, roasting it. When we get the dead brother reveal, I said to my viewing companions that "they were going to Pet Sematary that kid." We all laughed.... until they did. I haven't laughed like that since Pet Sematary when the dad tells his baby not to open the car doors for anyone back from the dead.

As someone who’s brother took his own life about 4 months ago, this being the first Christmas without him, I have to tell you that this movie hit completely different for me. No it’s not technically a “good” movie, yes it’s riddled with bad content that we can all sit here and dog on, but sometimes i like to just sit down and enjoy a B movie for what it is: content for contents sake. And I’ll be honest, considering the whole brother reveal didn’t come till late in the movie, it definitely surprised me and then the ending came….And yeah, for obvious reasons it hit me really hard and struck a cord. This will never be a good movie, never be a holiday classic, but for me….ill always remember it.. because it gave a happy ending that I could only ever dream of right now, and honestly I really, really needed that.

Unless I'm forgetting something, I haven't watched a big "Hollywood" Christmas movie made since about Elf and Bad Santa and I think both of those movies were from 2003, if I remember correctly? (I enjoyed both of those movies, I just haven't seen trailers for any explicitly "Christmas" movies since then that really seemed like anything I'd want to to watch. The older I get, the more I enjoy just watching anime Christmas episodes and classic Christmas TV specials instead of feeling any need to see new Christmas movies.) I don't think I'll be watching anything from this year's crop of terrible-looking Christmas films, not that I subscribe to any streaming services right now anyway.

Not even factoring the whole Satan at Christmas aspect, this was just a craptastic waste of my time, and brain cells. The Christians are handling this all wrong. If they had just kept quiet on this one, hardly anyone would have made it long to enough to even see Satan appear in the movie (which is roughly 10 to 15 minutes in maybe? Don't quote me). Look, the acting is HORRENDOUS, and not a single character is even likeable enough to invest in, not even the kid- it's just about the worst movie I've ever seen in my life, and I'm not even kidding. Save your energy, and find something else to get worked up about. Your kids won't even be paying attention if you did let them watch this thing. Instead of begging to stay up later to watch it, they'll be begging you to let them go to bed early.

This movie seemed artifically sweet and a play on old jokes that have been retired for a reason. I got tired of watching it after jack black was shown to be not satan. It was honestly not a great movie, but not a horribly written one either. Its a solid 4/10 for me. Honestly, Jack Black was having the time of his life with this movie and it showed. I do think that the directors really failed to bring deeper elements into the story, i couldnt find myself too horribly involved with this kind of story.

Ben Stiller basically plays himself or same character as always, but now that he is older and the situation he is in it makes sense. Give it a try.

Dang, I guess I am in the minority of people who liked the movie. Its by no means a watch every year and it has its issues but there were a number of jokes that got me. It seems like some things may have been cut which leads to weird story beats and the shart joke was stupid, but aside from that I found it entertaining.

To me the movie was sort of okay, but as you said the ending was absolutely ridiculous. They mind wiped the parents and the brother was magically alive. I could have been a real opportunity to teach children and adults about grief, instead it was an bat crap insane ending that mocked the concept of passing away. Ending was dumb as hell.

I really enjoyed this movie and I disagree with you to the point where I feel like we watched two different movies. The entire movie I was sat there questioning "how does this kid get out of his deal with the devil?" Jack Black is there to egg this kid on, to give into his darkest desires. But this kid resists the devil's temptation and uses his wishes the way any nice kid probably would. This movie isn't a masterpiece by any means, but this video reeks of someone who went in looking not to enjoy it to shred it online for views. I think people should give it a chance

I just saw it and i think the movie is ok. I like the demon's costume and his relation with Liam, Gizzy was a great friend and character, the music was nice. The fart joke was awful but beside that, the film is fine. It's better than Red one for me. I give it a 6|10 🙂
