it's not that surprising really, because the Switch is what the Wii U should've been. they already had the tablet like controller for Wii U, but the name Wii is why it didn't sell well. Nintendo got in a rush to put something out, they should've waited to see what Sony and Microsoft did first, or atleast watch there unvail videos at E3, that's when Nintendo could've said, were not gonna call it Wii U, it'll be called Nintendo Switch. but they didn't do that, having two consoles with the name Wii on it will confuse the average buyer. so really the Nintendo Switch is really just a mobile version with the Wii U specs, it's a little better, but not by much.

Super Mario 3D Allstars is a disgrace, and a dark cloud casted from Nintendo. It sort of indicates to me that they aren't trying at all, and that is sort of scary. A modder released a 3ds version with 60fps, antialiasing, and higher textures and it is groundbreaking. Nintendo is NOT trying in certain facets and I just hope it doesn't affect the next Zelda.

@@k2t880 I won't be. I bought and sold it and got a badass SD card and shit so I can download better versions of the games they are releasing for 60 bucks lmfao. I was sort of afraid that this game would be limited, but they made a TON of them. The only reason how this game could ever be desired or rare in the future, is because it is so obsolete and rough. People are going to sell it more than any other game I feel like, and at the end of the decade, it will be considered a bad gaming oddity.

@Mario Walker904 I wouldn't be surprised if they removed it, in an effort to liquidate the stock that the retailers already have. I haven't seen that much of one copy of a game at Walmart, in my entire life. The only time I've seen that many copies of one game at any store is a flea market with multiple crates of E.T cartridges in the late 90's. If they fix the game, then yeah I would have regretted selling the game but honestly, it would be hard to feel bad for pirating this game for free.

Overall I’m fine with the switch but the joy con problems, the fact that the switch lite still has these problems except you can’t actually detach the joy cons, the fact that they decided 2 years after the switch launch to start to charge people to play online, and the fact that a ton of its library is just ports, rereleases and indie games makes me feel that the switch isn’t the best Nintendo console. Not every console can be perfect but I can probably think of 10 consoles/handhelds I’d rather play than the switch.

You made a good point, if they do a console refresh i just want the refresh to have a better processor and better gpu so games can be ported better and not sacrifice so much in the conversion with other games that were ported.

Wow, 4 years already... geez... I got my switch in September of 2017, as they were impossible to find that year! I remember being at college and my buddy texted me during lunch that best buy had some in stock. Well i immediately got on the next bus and went to get it. I brought it and went back to college, and ended up an hour late to class. I literally showed up to class carrying my switch brand new in the box, and didnt have any books i needed for the class. I sat at the back of the room in awe and actually unboxed it during lecture...

There are so many Switches out there and it doesn't look like sales are going down so to me it doesn't make sense that they would make a successor with games that could only be played on it. With a switch pro, games could be played on both, but with enhanced graphics on the pro, meaning they're not limiting the amount of potential software buyers.

For the Super Mario 64 pc switch dreamcast and other ports, it was not from leaked source code but from a decompiled rom which means that even more work was put in than just using the original source code and also makes it legal.

Oh hey I bought Thief Simulator on Switch a few months back! The game is extremely poor quality but it was on "95% SALE" on the eShop for weeks, hence why it was at the top of charts for a while. I was surprised about the fact you didn't mention not even once the Animal Crossing name during this video. Considering how that was the third best selling game in USA (2020) and it became the all time highest selling game in Japan, I thought it would get at least a shout out. That's the one thing I miss about your older videos, when you would show the console next to a pile of the most important games that were released in the previous year. Edit: with that being said, I like the message you gave about wishing Nintendo to not repeat old mistakes. My favorite part about these videos has always been watching the predictions because wether or not they become true is irrelevant, what is nice is rewatch these videos in the future and realize what people thought would happen to Nintendo.

Kinda funny how four years into the switch's life I finally get a Wii U and treat it as my current gen console. Oh you got breath of the wild on switch? That's cool I have it on wii u. Mario 3d word? Me too! As much as Nintendo screwed (and continues to screw) their wii u owners, I actually feel good about becoming a late adopter. While the switch is better in every way and is getting (in most cases) better ports of the wii u games, I'm just happy to have a cheaper way to have similar experiences. Is that just me?

I think the portability of the switch is the main reason it has seen such monstrous success. I have and have known others who have bought games that we already own just to have it portable. Not only that, we are willing to pay the premium price for old games like Skyrim, or Borderlands, or Bioshock just to have that different experience. Its been so successful, I am amazed that Sony or Microsoft has not followed suit with a similar device. PS Vita and Nvidia Shield were close, but they didn't seem quite there in comparison with what Nintendo has been able to do with the switch, and they certainly did not get the support they needed from their respective companies to be successful anyway. Yes, you can play PS4 on your Vita but it is just not optimized in terms of controls and setup and has always seemed like more trouble than it is worth. Just being able to casually grind on a game while netflix is playing on the tv is a different experience from the all encompassing experience of playing a home console is. Not taking anything away from those experiences, but Nintendo is satisfying a demand that other companies should look at too. If i could buy a handheld device that would let me play base PS4 games (in terms of graphics) in handheld, i would do so. I think many others would too.

I'm really waiting for as you tried to imply the switch 2, because nintendos handheld history has always had backwards compatibility with games. You can do that with switch games and perhaps even make the inevitable successor just run the games better by default like the series x can for xbox one games. I don't think a new console successor is coming anytime soon. If you compare modern computers to the ones 10 years ago. They isn't a great deal of difference in terms of processing power. That's because we're no longer seeing doubling of processing power like we did every couple of years in the 90's as a result of thinner cutting lasers. Since the 00's we've mostly seen more cores added to processors leading to the increase in parallelization . However, not all computing tasks can be parallelized.

I think the Wii U going dry once we get XCX, the two Zeldas, and maybe Yoshi isn’t going to be the end of padding releases with old titles. Starting last year we got a bunch of Wii games. First Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, then No More Heroes 1 and 2 on the eShop, and Mario Galaxy on the All Stars Collection. This year they already announced another one with Skyward Sword HD. Rumors say they finished porting Metroid Prime Trilogy years ago and are waiting to release it. They may have even started a streak of 3DS ports with Miitomo in the last direct. I honestly wonder if they can drag this out long enough that they end up looping back around to Switch remasters as a natural extension of this in the future.

9 times out of 10 if a game is released on Xbox, PlayStation or Switch I’m buying it on Switch for the portability option alone. So many great ports on the Switch honestly like LA Noire, Mortal Kombat 11, Bulletstorm, Bioshock Collection, Borderlands, Assassins Creed Black Flag, etc and etc. That’s why I love the Switch so much.

I agree that they probably won't create another brand new console series. I kind of feels like every Nintendo console has been leading up to the Switch, and the Switch has the DNA of all of those consoles combined. They've found the perfect formula.

I do not like nintendo as a company at all but i do have a switch lite for travel and in bed gaming. I just got a Xbox Series X and i am loving that. My point is everybody can use having a little Switch in there life. Especially at the low price point.

If Nintendo is not a company then you wouldn't have a Switch. A company is like a hub, it makes and create ideas and brought those to market. A better example are parents, you may like their son or daughter but you hated the parents cause they treated their children too badly or too securely or are very protected of them just like Nintendo is protecting their IPs.

I agree with a lot of your key points, Adam. As for the Wii and Wii U ports, I wanted to mention I (mostly) willingly spend the extra money on them despite having owned a Wii U since 2013 and a Wii since 2006 because I want to play these games portably. I prefer the portable aspect of gaming but prefer 2.5D and 3D titles. That makes the Nintendo Switch (and Lite) invaluable to me.

Super Nintendo Switch. It kind of makes sense. The NES was a huge success and followed up with Super Nintendo. The Switch has been a huge success. Plus when you say the full name, you still say “Super Nintendo” in the name. “Super Nintendo Switch” makes sense
