Watching engines get torn down and refreshed by you guys is so awesome. It’s almost like an honor hearing and seeing the tips and tricks because we know how hard Adam goes on his cars and if they survive Adam then they are built right lol. This is by far my favorite build I think. Those chromed blitz 03s are just like a set I use to have back when I got out of high school. I’ve wanted another set ever since but never could afford any. One day maybe I’ll find a set that needs restoration.

2g dsm's had crankwalk issues because everyone back in the day used high clamping plates like the extreme act. 1gs didnt have the issue due to the location of the trustwasher was better suited for dealing with the high load.

Never had any problems with my 4g63t cars or 4g64 cars the Chrysler 420A crankwalked like it was its only job the low level 2g eclipses had the Chrysler 420a engine and the transmission might have been worse. I had one as a kid when I didn't know any better the transmission went out at like 54k miles I took it to a mechanic and he said thanks "ill see ya soon" I said, I hope not, he said "aww you definitely will be" and he wasn't wrong.

If you do the vertical intake setup I would think you then need a much better heat shield and isolation since the hot air from the turbo will be heating up the intake like a kettle.

crank walk in JZ's are so rare and just about all of us ran heavy pressure plates without issues for years. I don't really see that as conclusive evidence beyond internet hearsay that has been around for 15 years.

I've had exactly the same thing happen before on a completely different engine. The reason ended up being an improper shaft play using the PMC adapter kit (Not really their fault) causing the gearbox shaft taper to hit the pilot bearing and forcing the crankshaft into the engine. The error was a fraction of a millimeter so I didn't notice it when bolting up the gearbox. The only way I discovered it was by measuring the crank walk at the other end of the engine with and without the gearbox.

@Adam LZ, Awesome vids as always guys, given you and your teams experience...if one were building a 500whp 2jz with v160/161... what uprated clutch and pressure plate would you recommend that would provide enough clamping force without the long term detriment of crank walk? Through some Supraforums review it seems to be a major issue with OEM and built motors alike; recommendation to go twin or triple disk is common, and avoiding RPS or ACT... thoughts? Has any company developed any fixes for high power builds and a fix for the thrust washers?
