Great Video Adam, thank you for sharing, I'm a Brazilian musician much up to strings , but I love percussion and I got a LP Compact conga to start my "tumbao" Your video is very inspirational, thank you again Cheers!
@cornelllewis591911 жыл бұрын
I have been practicing since yesterday. The doubles make me go slow at first, then speed up. I have to get the technique down --then speed up. I want to learn how you play the fills ( with doubles ) on the Tumbao. I play it the traditional way --with two drums. You do doubles on one drum with Tumbao.

+Adam Riviere I would love the next video you do on fills. Your video is the clearest most concise I've found. Fantastic!

great video. I would like to know what kind of congas they are. the type of shell and what type of heads. I am fairly new to the conga. The sound of these are congas are incredible. I am however finding out . Trying to learn on cheap or beginner series is just a wast of time. Quality sounds dont' come from cheaper drums.
@AdamRiviere9 жыл бұрын
these congas are the limited edition series from Toca. I no longer play then since I'm a Tycoon Percussion artist now. feel free to message me with questions about conga drums and what to pay to get a great sound for the money. Thanks for liking my video and return back for more videos.

David Ridgeway I use the signature heritage series. Those deliver a great sound reminiscent of records from Cuban bands from the 50s/60s. I also love and use the master series congas. Message me and I can connect you with a set or feel free to ask any more questions. Will be laying videos of their drums real soon

o.k. here is another question. Can I get a better sound using fiberglass or wood sounding congas. I really would like to know. what you would suggest as a middle to upper line of and type of conga and brand name for permanent use. Pro and beginner. thanks
@AdamRiviere9 жыл бұрын
+larry zobel Fiberglass congas can produce a good tone that will have more brightness than warmth, where wood will give you more body, warmth, and depending how you tune a better overall tone. If you are dealing with annoying climate changes where you perform, teach, etc then fiberglass will still deliver. For best tone in the Upper/Middle price and quality range I would go with Tycoon Percussion (go figure), Gon Bops (if you can get vintage jump on it!), Toca, and LP. Even as a beginner investing in quality congas initially is the best approach. I am currently using Tycoon Percussion's Signature Heritage Series because it delivers great tones with the Siam Oak and body design that reminds me of Cuban music from the 50s.

not quite changuitos version. his actually had an actual ghost note(not to be confused with palm elements of a tumbao) before a double followed by one or two accents.

Adan vald Contreras ¤ Hi, Can I change skins from LP Aspire and fit Remo nuskyns on my congas to upgrade for a better sound ?
@AdamRiviere7 жыл бұрын
LP Aspire's may not be the right size, but go to Remo's site to see if they manufacture them. The nuskyns they carry now are either a solid rim and crimped in or they are like the ones I have where they are rolled over like a natural skin would be, which is what I prefer but a personal preference.

Theresa Conkle just play. When I play in church I expect the other musicians to follow the vibe the conga sets. If you are uncomfortable taking that lead play kit drum rhythms. Not as fun as the afro-cuban rhythms but it gets people used to the sound of the conga. As that happens you can feel where the afro-cuban rhythms fit into the western style church music.

What is the best conga.
@AdamRiviere7 жыл бұрын
That is always the million dollar question, lol. I am Tycoon Percussion artist now and I favor their sound more than any other company making congas now. The best conga will always be up for interpretation in terms of how it delivers its tones from the shape of its body to the material of the drum head. Listen to Latin/Afro-Cuban music and find which group has a conga sound that you love and then check out what they are playing.

Not going to argue this is lacking in melao. Wanted to deliver a very straight forward vanilla instructional video, and hope people will give it some soul when they add it to their groove.
