Just subscribed yes another fan bro! Thanks for your simple demonstration and explanation of what and how the slap tones are achieved! Polishing up this technique (Moeller) technique on the conga heads! It’s almost like other conquerors don’t want to demonstrate their technique? Mucho Gracias WJ! 😊

I am glad it helps! The fine motor techniques of the slap can be a pretty difficult thing to teach. Thank you for watching, commenting and supporting.

I like the analogy of the towel whipping, I've seen so many demos but that's a good idea of the finesse at the attack of the drum, I'm gonna apply this idea when I go to practice, Thanks

Excellent instruction. I didn't know that congas where manipulated like that, almost like a tabla drum. I notice that when you do the slap you are attacking the drum by changing the tilt of your hand very slightly. So when your playing with left, your hand tilts to the left.

Great video. Thanks for sharing this. Right now my hands are hurt because I think I've not been doing it correctly. And I have to play Bomba next Sunday and my Right thumb is hurt. Every time I do a slap that thumb hits the rim and it's hurting real bad.

my drum instructor slapped his congas so hard I had to blink everytime. i would literally use my fingers to try and hold my eyelids up and it didn't matter.

Bro my slap sucks☹️
@WilliamJohnsonmusic2 жыл бұрын
Keep at it! The slap is not an easy thing to do. Honestly, even though I can slap in several different tones, I still have to work at it… and I have been at it for many years. You got this! A little practice everyday and eventually progress will happen.
