NYC needs to vote the city council and DA Bragg out so we can bring back common sense laws that keep people safe. The city council is not allowing the dangerous bail reform law to be reversed which is why there is so much crime in the city. On top of that the city council is trying to add more dangerous bills that will tie the hands of cops while giving more power to the criminals.

@@chatta718 I do have concerns about the legalities of what the TSA can, and cannot do, but with aircraft, which can be flown into buildings and used as a weapon itself, I understand the restrictions. Additionally, everyone is screened through TSA and it’s not random, random can lead to profiling. They also don’t force you to open your bag unless they suspect you might commit a crime which they use technology like x-ray machines to ascertain. But yes, 911 was another event which the government used to take away rights from law abiding citizens.

Mayor Adams has made many mistakes. But many critics are uninformed and running off emotion. Bail reform & sanctuary city laws have to be rescinded by the NYC City Council. Mayor Adams doesn’t have the power to arbitrarily cancel them, like he’s a dictator of a small country. Those two policies were passed during the DiBlasio administration and he left a big pile of shyt on Adams’ doorstep to clean up, along with Joe Biden. Most people (uninformed citizens) didn’t see him put it there, so they just look at the person whose doorstep it’s on and blame them.

It was less than a year ago that Adams claimed that this approach was the "old way of policing" and that "New Yawk" would not be going back to it. Turns out this "old way of policing" that was practiced under Giuliani and Bloomberg was effective. People felt safe taking the subway and walking around the city at night. Once Wilhelm/DeBlasio took the reins, the city started on a downward trajectory to what it was in the 1970's. Adams has only exacerbated that decline. I used to like walking around the city when I worked there from 2007-2016 and never felt unsafe, but I wouldn't even think about going back there for any reason. James Altucher was 100% correct when he wrote his article, "NYC is dead" back in 2021.

Can you say no to a bag check? Yes. Under the Fourth Amendment, which guarantees the right to protection from unreasonable searches and seizures, a rider can decline a bag search if the police do not have a reasonable suspicion that the rider has done something illegal or is carrying a weapon.
