This video illustrates a problem I'm experiencing with the clutch and pedal locking mechanism on my Adams Philharmonic Light 20" piccolo timpano. Thank you to Michael for demonstrating the issue.

@fcmilsweeper9 Move clutch to the inside (towards the bowl) with your heel. With the clutch still disengaged, move the pedal as you would normally. Once you get to the desired pitch, move your heel back to lock the clutch in position. This kind of mechanism holds pitch very securely, and the pedal won't slide or creep up or down as you play, even at extreme volume.

Hey I've never used clutch timpani before, what is the process of changing the pitch? Is it just moving the clutch with your foot? And is a lot of force involved in doing that? Be a lot of help if you replied. Thanks!

this and your other problem seem pretty annoying. Did you try contacting Adams directly (namely Franz)? He has been helpful for me in the past. Also if you are on FB there is a timpani shop talk group where you should post links to these vids--maybe someone there will be able to help you. It's frustrating, because these drums can sound good, but seems like every set has strange quirky pedal issues. Sorry I don't have any suggestions! good luck
