My Shimano 6' poleethylene foam handled replacement, even with the same reel, just never left the garage with me happy seeing it's only slightly older cork handled medium action counterpart with his ghastly electronic SUV hatch injuries. I watched the second time today, and now I've even found some fusion multi urpose aint and not only restored my original but gave the replacement a trendy astel look! All thanks to you, sincerely.

Broke my favorite rod and can't find another one like it anywhere but now I know there's still hope of saving it

Dude i hate to break it to you but i did this and even though it did make my rod totally functional, it just felt different after, more stiff and sometimes makes concerning noises.

thanks for your video! By way of giving back, if you wanted to impart just a little bit more strength to that break, you could pick up a little bit of shrink tubing to incase the repair in.

In the last 20 year's or so I've done this and the rods are going strong without a problem

Nice alternative method to others that I've seen. I will save the video for my consumption later as I do have rods I need to repair. I did find however that the background music is distracting. DIY fix for that is I'll turn down the volume and watch your repair method.

Just remove the splintered section. Seal the end with epoxy. Sand about an inch and half section till it fits in. Lightly coat with thin CA glue to seal the open fiber, wipe off with paper. It's good to go.

Broke my rod tip four inches down. Took a steel afro comb tooth. It's a thin but very strong steel rod and gorilla glued the ends into either side and it works like new. Saved $50.00

Always wrap the blank in masking tape where you plan to cut to minimize splintering of the carbon fibers

If the break is close to the base then you can repeat this step ,but put another mending piece on the outside as well as the inner one.

I find many broken rods at thrift stores and yard sales. If you can find a repair shop many times they will give you parts of broken rods for free. At least in my area they will.
@dannad39563 жыл бұрын
You should have saved the bit you threw out, it could have been fixed. You may aswell buy a new rod to replace it. You've probably got a better chance of finding a second hand key to fit your front door than you have of finding the other half of the rod you've got.
