Great Video! It would be great if you could make a video about Matter over WiFi and Matter over Thread and show the key differences when it comes to lightstrips.

There is very little difference as far as features wise, it's just a difference on what protocol they use to connect. i discussed this briefly in my homekit beginners guide video

If someone has a lot of light strips in their house, it would definitely be better to use Thread, otherwise the WiFi network would be unnecessarily busy to handle smart lights.

Hey boss as always love your videos. Very helpful. Just wondering if someone makes a outdoor smart light strip that works on thread.

@@AdamsTechLife on that note, do any of them make a HomeKit enabled Outdoor string light? I want colored string lights out back by the pool that I can work with on my HomeKit. Great video btw.. I'm now thinking about Onvis for my kitchen strip lights. I'm also thinking about Nanoleaf for the brightness now that you say they are the brightest. Kitchen under cabinet lights should be bright I think.

Hi Adam I’m just starting out with smart home with HomeKit and live in Australia. I purchased a Nanoleaf globe and the salesperson told me all I would need is HomeKit. I successfully got it working using the Nanoleaf app however since I wanted to make the light come on and go off at a particular time, I soon discovered that I needed a border thread router to connect the globe to HomeKit. (It is Matter enabled). Do these light strips also need a border thread router? I already have a perfectly functional Apple tv but it isn’t the 4K 128gb version and I don’t need or want a HomePod. Any suggestions? TIA

in order to use the the matter protocol and automations to work inside the home app (as well as remote access from the home app), you will need a homekit hub. I dove deeper into homekit hubs in my homekit hubs dedicated video. a homepod mini would really be the cheapest option for a homekit hub unfortunately. Also, welcome to the HomeKit world :)

Can you cut and extend TP Link? Looks like 4 pin, will any 4 pin connectors or extenders work. I need to gap a section of book cases and don't want two controllers.

@@AdamsTechLife go back and watch it... you contradict yourself that's why I ask. "All of these can be cut, but once they are cut you cannot be extended. Then you go on to say they can be extended. So, can you jump a gap with tp link by cutting and bridging them with snap connectors / wire?
