Great review! Thank you so much for your clear and concise and personal information on this lock. I have one and I’m about to install it today, so we will see if I recommend it after six months also lol.

I'm unable to find where to edit the channel app in the iOS app. (I have homebridge installed on a Mac, so maybe that's an issue?) I can find the srcoll list of stations to choose from, but can not edit them or rename them. Otherwise a great walk through on how to set this up
@AdamsTechLife10 сағат бұрын
are you trying to change them from the home app? if so, choose the apple tv tile, tap the cog wheel and scroll down to rename stations
@TomMartinek9 сағат бұрын
@ yeah, I’ve tried that…. I see senes, automations, status, manufacturer, serial number, etc - but no list to edit….🤔

I know I'm late here, but your annoyance about having a hub is uncorrect imo. The hub means that the nothing is actually connected to wifi, since the hub connects via Ethernet. This means that even if your internet goes out, wireless switches and dimmers still work without having to use an app.

I don't think the level bolt can get homekey functionality with the matter update. Home Key is NFC tech, and the bolt still lacks an NFC reader. Matter/Thread shouldn't add that functionality. Confirmed with a Matter support chat.
@AdamsTechLife2 күн бұрын
the level lock website on their faq matter page confirms all level locks that support matter over thread will get homekey support :)

@ I like Home Assistant a lot but it’s not all plug and play. Some devices are extremely easy to setup, some require to install ‘drivers’ and some (less common) devices require serious tweaking. Just fyi (and others reading this;).

very informative video, i just one one question, i plan on automating a room using 'works with siri shortcuts' lights and a homepod. would it chew up through my iphone's battery if i use homepod for 'hey siri, turn on the lights' kind of commands? what if i keep an ipad with the same apple id constantly connected to the wifi, would it work the same/better? thanks!
@AdamsTechLife2 күн бұрын
nope! it has minimal impact to the battery on an iphone or ipad :) just like using siri for other things on those devices the phone and ipad do have to be powered on and connected to wifi for the command to work on the homepod though

i don't understand why the banner checkmark sometimes pops up, and sometimes it doesn't. It must be something running in the background from that shortcut or something. I tried hard resetting the phone, but it doesn't help. I had three days of no checkmark, but now i can't get rid of it 90% of the time i run a shortcut from the homescreen. i don't know why apple doesn't provide a fix for that for years.

That switch by smart reality can it be installed over a regular fan or light switch without changing the default switch I have in place? Does the smart switch actually pull the native switch leveler up and down?
@AdamsTechLife7 күн бұрын
yes, just sits over any regular switch or paddle style switch and doesnt replace the faceplate. it physically moves the switch up and down

My Philips hue bulbs don’t work when my WiFi is down, what am I doing wrong?
@neverman339811 күн бұрын
Yeah, my automations work and my Phillips hue bulb/motion sensor combo works great but I have Phillips hue bulb Aqara sensor combo that don’t work at all without WiFi. Phillips hue app and the Home app both fail when it comes to controlling lights but luckily I do have Phillips hue light switches.
@neverman339811 күн бұрын
Also, airplay doesn’t work with my HomePods , Sonos or Apple Home enabled TVs (of which I have 3). Which makes me wonder about the length of time this experiment took. Some things worked for a while after my WiFi connection went down (which I found strange) but slowly but surely things started to fail. My Govee Dreamview setup survived due to Bluetooth/Wifi connectivity.

The energy monitoring data is used how? Seriously? Who actually does this stuff? Nobody, that's who. Smart plug = turn device on, turn it off, on schedule through a Wifi network if needed. Period.
@AdamsTechLife12 күн бұрын
it allows you to track the power consumption of individual devices in your home, helping you identify "energy hogs" and potentially save money by understanding which appliances use the most electricity, prompting you to adjust usage habits or consider more efficient alternatives.

It would be nice to have a list of Homekit compatible cameras that work when internet down. Even cameras not Homekit compatible like most of TP-Link that store locally - do they send alerts, etc. when net is down?
@AdamsTechLife12 күн бұрын
all will work in HomeKit with no internet pending hubs/bases are online if needed. some work in their own app, some don't. that is a good idea tho.

My opinion is that anything related to your home security system should be totally local and preferably hard wired so a wi-fi jammer won't work. This includes door/window contact sensors and security cameras.
@AdamsTechLife12 күн бұрын
I definitely agree on that one!

Nice video and informative. FYI, though, your Ecoflow would not have saved your refrigerator during the storm unless you also had hundreds of dollars worth of expansion batteries. At 286 Wh you'd likely only get an hour and a half of refrigerator power. Nevertheless, the concept is great and the product is great, but just has to be sized for your desired load.

Assuming the home base is connected via hardwire, and the cameras are within WiFi distance to the routers to make a decent connection to the WiFi network, are there limits on the distance between the base and the cameras? Is the base providing the cameras its own WIFI? - Why the questions: I have my house wired and have 2 other buildings, each building has at least 1 mesh router connected also via hardwire. My homebase would if I could, be located on top of my network rack which is several concrete with rebard walls away from cameras so they must connect to the routers and then to the base station via the routers in order to record. Distance and walls would in my opinion prevent direct connection to the base via WiFi if routers were not in place. Have you any info on this?
@AdamsTechLife12 күн бұрын
eufy says the best range is within 30 feet of the base depending on the material between the camera and base (concrete impacts the signal the most). the base uses it's own proprietary hidden SSID and uses 2.4 G Wi-Fi. Basically it acts as a Wi-Fi repeater / extender once connected to your network.
