@Adam Straugham Iwas scrolling back to find your first ever reaction to Angie (I’m working on a playlist of her first reactions.) Knowing what a moving tribute to her grandfather this was, I had to stop and watch. This video was actually recorded quite close to his death, hence her raw emotion. It was uploaded just 6 days after he passed away. Here is what she posted on Facebook on March 4, 2018 about his passing… Our family lost a treasure today, my grandfather passed away. He was very close to me and have always supported me in everything I did. He always made me smile, laugh and gave me great life lessons. He was a man who got respect from all over the town, always helped people in need, he was the definition of a true gentleman and generous man with a big heart. He will be remembered by homeless people he helped to be able to make a living. He was in deep pain for a couple of months now, he will no longer suffer from the pain. May he rest in peace, our memories together will stay forever in my heart. Until we meet again, ❤️

This is probably the bravest thing I've seen Angelina do. Here she shares here grief with her KZbin audience whom she absolutely trusts will understand and accept. Angelina is unafraid to bare her soul and participate in all that life has to give, happiness and sorrow. Thank you, Adam.

I think you found the right word to describe this one... "beautiful". It's beautiful the way she dedicated this to her grandpa. It's beautiful that she managed to hold it together right to the end. ...and it's beautiful that she allowed us all in to see this personal and vulnerable moment. Angelina does the best tributes. Be sure to check out her tribute to Aretha after her passing with "Natural Woman": kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKWZfJt4rc6UetE and her tribute to Avicii (who she had worked with) "Wake Me Up": kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4jPonSpjNuir7c Both are just incredible. Angelina seems to always turn to music to help cope with loss, and I think her music will help others cope for many years to come.

👩🏻🎤🎵🌎⭐️🇳🇴❤️ This is such a beautiful, heartfelt rendition by Angelina, so lovingly dedicated to her grandfather who had passed away just a few days earlier. I find it very difficult to watch this one to the very end, because it is so hard to see her in pain, but I think one of the many things to admire about Angelina is her tremendous courage in all things. Here she was not afraid to share with her fans and all the world the great love that she had for her grandfather, and the obvious bond that they shared. I am sure he continues to be tremendously proud of you, Angelina. She wrote on her Facebook page: "Our family lost a treasure today, my grandfather passed away. And I think what people often forget when watching this, is that not only is she singing for her wonderful grandpa, but To her wonderful grandma who is often behind the camera, and to the rest of her family who are never far away. So for her to maintain her composure for so long is amazing, heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time.

I'm a former English and literature teacher and am simply, refreshingly, awesomely amazed at how one so young expresses herself with her words! Those words, in both her writing and singing, extend from a pure heart and an emotional depth of soul which almost defies description. I am so excited to see what the future holds for this precious, regal, exquisite young lady!

This performance best personifies Angelina's character. The sadness in her expression and the quiver in her voice at the end of the song speaks volumes to her humanity. She is undeniably a caring person and a breath of fresh air in an industry filled with self absorbed people.

Hear, Hear! Jerry. Time and again she shows what a gentle, caring, sincere person she is. In an entertainment industry filled with people who feel a sense of entitlement, Angelina gives freely to her fans all aspects of herself; she lets us into her world without the need to make it into "perfect". She is the opposite of pretentious. While I love her incredible talent, I love her character just as much.

Everything she touched turns to gold. I feel so blessed having her in our world, since it is almost unbelievable that a person like her can be among us. No matter what song she covers, she always do it as good as the original most often better. She seems to be the kind of artist that does every twist and turn because she feel it is right, and never ever to impress anybody. That is what impressed me most about her. Like the runs you talked about, it just seems totaly natural to her and thats why she did them, not to impress anybody with crazy runs. She is so humble as a person, and as an artist that it is almost to good to be true, in the best way possible. And she is the kind of person and blessed with the right kind of persons close to her that she might always stay this way. That would almost be a first, but I have the greatest faith in her. She is truly a bright special star.

It is not possible to make it through this, regardless of how many time you try, without tears. I can't. There are really no words for the caring, loving, person that Angelina is. To me, it is how she is able to touch your heart when she sings, because we are feeling Angelina, not really the music, so to speak. I know she was close to her grandpa, and as she is to all her family. Knowing who Angelina is as a person, and watching her interact with sister Juliette, I know someday, there will be some very loving, caring, and inspiring young people who's mother's name is Angelina Jordan.

I've probably heard this one thirty times or more, but it still brings tears to my eyes. I was my mom's caretaker for her last decade, but no matter what you can't help thinking you could have done better, and this performance encapsulated that perfectly for me. Yes, she loses the lyrics and her composure at the end, but if anything that just makes it more powerful.
@garyswee90614 жыл бұрын
Well done! It's a difficult balance to talk about the performance and still stay respectful of the moment. Angelina is the best at communicating the emotion of a song even when it is about something she has not yet experienced. Here, though, the sadness and regret is real emotion. It is raw and palpable. Whether I tear up or not, I feel it to the depth of my heart. I wish I could somehow comfort this sad child. I think she has her grandfather try to comfort her when she covers Happier. She looks at his photo start and finish as if he's saying, "I want you to be happier."Great song! Great reaction. Thanks, Adam

Although the circumstances surrounding this recording were unusual and deeply personal, it shows us classic Angelina. The emotion behind the lyrics comes through honestly, simply, and sincerely as it does in so many of her other songs. Her low register is stunning for me in the literal sense of the word. It freezes me, not just in the ease with which she hits those notes, but in the fullness and warmth of her voice. Also classic Angelina is the way she personalizes this song while respecting the original version. And like many other performances, it’s Angelina’s voice without any mixing or processing. Angelina, impromptu in what looks like a hotel room, with Ivan behind her, shows us a singer who seems to have limitless vocal tools. I’ve listened to her hundreds, probably thousands, of times, and her songs still produce fresh emotion when I hear them again. Angelina is the best singer I’ve ever heard. For a side of Angelina that you haven’t seen, please consider I’m Still Holding Out for You. Angelina was 10 when she recorded it, and the song has an unusual back story. It’s a voice and style that you haven’t heard-a studio recording that seems impossible for a ten year old, but she delivers the dark, melancholic emotion behind the lyrics in spades.

The grandfather she is talking about was Japanese. Angelina also honored him by performing in Japan and singing a song in Japanese called - Like A River Flow. Like her mom and uncle, who were raised in Japan, she also speaks the language.

I have watched this a few times on a few other reactors channels. I always feel that I am intruding on very personal intimate moments of someone's grief and very dark moments. I know that Angelina is really young but her pain is so raw and obviously fresh that it is hard to watch and listen to in this way. I do though obviously. She did seem that she wanted to share it with people....her fans. Maybe she feels a "safe" closeness with them. I think that your reaction was really tasteful. Not overboard on the commentary regarding emotion and not ignoring the the technical on the commentary either. Both were handled very professionally. It has to be hard that, as a reactor, you have to weight your reaction in a situation like this. Great job on a kind of difficult song. I hope that you will get to Angelina's dynamic songs....like Wicked Things, I'm still holding on for you, It's a Man's World, Somethings got a hold on me, La Boheme, My Funny Valentine, Nothing Breaks Like A Heart All recorded before AGT Bohemium Rhapsody

Also that you were willing to look at the struggle she had through the performance for what is was - a heart felt love for her grandfather. Her willingness to share something that personal really shows what a special person she is. I had heard this not long before I unexpectedly lost my mother in February 2022,shortly after a stroke. I was struggling for the words so I played this Angelina song for her, as it put into words, conveyed with feeling, what I could not. I followed it up with Angelina’s Million Miles. She passed a couple of hours later. I was blessed to be able to tell Angelina about this in person. My mother loved her music also, her face would light up when hearing and watching her. Angelina’s music and what she explains to everyone about it is what is helping me through these tough times.

Alan Papier did an interview with Ivan Mendez about a year ago. He has a great deal of admiration for not only Angelina, but the entire Astar family. They welcomed him into their home and just spent time relaxing and talking about music before saying "What do you think about this song?" Once through the song to learn it and then straight into recording. Many times Angelina would be reading the lyrics while performing it. A good deal of what makes Angelina angelic is the upbringing, support, and protection provided by her family.

When you hear her sing about how she could have done better expressing her love for her grandfather, you can't help thinking she must have done so much for him. But it's how we often feel when someone passes over: "If only I had...." feeling we didnt do enough. Angelina has several guitar players with her depending on where she is. But in this case you see not only the admiration of her in him, but he also closely watches if she is okay as it's so emotional to her. He tunes into her emotions as well as her singing and speaks volumes for his level of empathy. Angelina once more expresses emotions; this time not as she has always done by tuning into other's emotions, but her own. Same in "Million Miles" of course.

Hello Adam STRAUGHAN. I really liked Angélina JORDAN's rendition of Elwis' "Always On My Mind"." Very beautiful tribute, the color and his voice so pure and angelic, is much more suited to this type of register, with in addition the accompaniment to the guitar, it is the icing on the cake. really a great moment of music , reminiscent of the singers of the 60s. I would love to hear her perform "those were the days", it is a piece where she would express, without taking risks, with voluptuousness, the tenderness and richness of her personality, in the right tessiture. I listened to show must go on and in my opinion, rock or powerful melodies, do not suit the fragility and emotion that it emanates in it. A non-frills and talented singer. Thank you for making us rediscover the premiere and exclusivity of this cover of the King. It's a marvel! Take care of yourself, I wish you a great end to the day. Franck from France.

We all have to realize that Angelina is still a child she was sending the song to her Grandpa up to heaven singing it like only a child can do.

I've heard this song too many times to count and it makes me tear up everytime. I love it and her. What a sweet little lady. I pray that the new record deal doesn't change her one iota. If you haven't reacted to her Norways got talent rendition of I'm a fool to want you. Please do. Seven year old Angelina still blows me away!

So true as you said this duo is magic.Hopefully Angelina's fans can nudge Republic Records to include Ivan in her new music.Congrats on the sub milestone, you're a great reactor and I have no doubt that your count will continue to rise impressively.

Another great reaction Adam. I think of my Mother every time I watch this video. I’m just starting to warm up to Aurora. I absolutely love her cover of Across The Universe.

Suggest perhaps listing what you’ve reacted to by her? Age 6 I Who Have Nothing; I Know I’m Not the Only One and tons more.

Adam Straughan I have your channel list. More hoping for specifics of the limited number of AJ’s you’ve done five if not mistaken. My disease of LA keeps me from arduous work. LA, Lazy Ass if not already familiar.

W o w. I believe she and Evan just got back from funeral, as they are both in black, She was very close to Grandpa and made this tribute. Evan Mendez is Angelina's go to player when in L A. He also did guitar at AGT Champions Bohemian Rhapsody. ....Love your reaction. : )

Excellent reaction. It might have been pointed out in the comments, but I’m not going to read every one of them, concerning Angelina (except for a couple old reliables) - She made this video shortly after her grandpa’s passing.

Thanks again Adam, for a lovely, respectful and insightful reaction. I've checked your list, and there is one song missing that I really think you will love to bits. In this one, you will also see AJ on her piano. It's Wicked Game kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3qkfnlqe6mZrZY. Also - you should give her very playful and strong rendition of Etta James' I'd rather go blind a spin kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnybnoCOhsdmlas . The amount of vocal fry on that song is insane. Finally, if you want a completely different AJ, her pop/country version of "Nothing breaks like a heart" kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHuclqhtpqecrbM by Miley Cyrus/Mark Ronson is epic. Mark Ronson actually provided her with the backing track himself for that one after they worked together

Adam. To see the real Angelina and to have a grasp on what she is as a person. On KZbin type in “ interviews with Angelina Jordan “. Select “ Angelina Jordan interview by Anne Lindmo NRK TV” turn on translations and listen. Toward the end she reads from her diary. I am 78 and I am gobsmacked that a girl just barely six writes these words. She is beyond incredible and a better human than I or anyone I know will ever be.
