You just can't fake that kind of soul. I don't know how, but this 12 year old always sounds like she has been through some stuff. Angelina has so many different sounds and every one of them is something that just pulls you in and holds you there. I agree with you, Angelina and just a guitarist for an entire concert would be a dream to see. Angelina does play guitar and piano, so we may one day see her performing more stuff solo, accompanying herself (fingers crossed). A note on the mic (since you mentioned it)... Angelina received this mic for her 12th birthday, and this is likely one of the first times she used it (which may be why she is holding it backwards ...or holding it at all since it's not really a mic one would hold). That mic went on to record some amazing stuff in the years that followed :) I imagine one day we will see that mic behind glass and preserved as an important piece of music history. As microphones go that one hit the lottery ;)

Randy, you are the aficionado on Angelina's musical life and it is truly a fascinating story. I would love to see you write a short biography on her life and provide all of the little inside bits of information that you know. I would even be willing to pay for is as a pamphlet or book. I appreciate all of your insights. I only discovered Angelina serendipitously on KZbin in January with her AGTC 2020 Bohemian Rhapsody cover. I hardly listen to any other music as she basically covers nearly all genres.

Aside from all the superlatives I’ve used to describe my feelings about Angelina, something I probably haven’t said is that hearing Angelina sing sometimes is just fun. I don’t think it’s possible to watch Angelina’s version of I’d Rather Go Blind without smiling. You can see what a joy is it for her to really get into this type of music, and that joy spreads to us. On songs like this, or I Put a Spell on You, or It’s a Man’s World-I watch reactors first open their eyes wider, then their mouth drops open, and then it turns into a smile. Perfectly understandable. She brings joy to me every day.

How does someone who looks so innocent sing with so much soul. I've seen this performance twenty times or more and it blows me away each time. I agree with you, she does not need slot of production and l hope her record label recognizes that. With a voice like hers, no dancers needed. She is the real deal and l hope the U.S. audience hasn't been numbed to the point that they can't see and hear it. I know the older generation does.

This particular song is an example of Angelina's innate ability to adjust the tone, timbre, and style of her voice to suit the particular song and genre she is singing. Thank you for your reaction video and for continuing your Angelina Jordan’s journey. One of my all time favourite songs by my favourite artist Angelina Jordan. Ellington Jordan started writing the song while he was in prison but did not finish it. Etta James saw the outline of the song when she visited him in prison, it struck a cord with her and decided to finish it. The emotions that Etta performed the song with are unmatched. Angelina did the song more than justice. When Etta wrote the song, she was going through a very dark period of her life. She was addicted to drugs, in trouble for tax evasion, stealing from family and friends to finance her addiction, and in serious legal troubles. When the record was published, she gave her lyrics credits to her then partner Billy Foster (The singer with THE MEDALLIONS) to avoid having the royalties garnished. She performed this song many times and every time you could hear, see, and feel her pain. Thank you Angelina for bringing back these gems to the forefront. You’re on your way to taking your seat among the best artists ever.

Hi Adam, I had listened to 2-3 other reactions of yours prior to this. I went to your playlist and didn't realize how many AJ reviews you had so I went back in chronological order from"Spell" to "Shield". I only discovered AJ in October so unaware of your history with her. Took a few hours but I enjoyed every single review! esp.the one you waited for, Bohemian Rhapsody. That particular review spoke to me in that she had become like family and you feel like a parent watching her growth. So glad you took that progression. I've watched tons of reactions to Angelina but I must say yours are the most professional, intellectual and with so much sincerity that it truly sets you above all the others by far! There are a couple of songs that you may want to consider in the future..."My Funny Valentine" I believe just turned 10yo in a white turtleneck shirt on a sofa with no mic, just melts my heart and "If You Go Away". Neither song is perfect but the emotion she pulls out of me, I just can't explain. This is why I have become so attached to her and why I believe so many more will when she releases her new album. Thank you for continuing this journey.

The image you created of her, a guitarist and a jazz club echoed exactly a post I made quite recently about our girl's evocation of yesteryear even when singing a pop song like Stay (which she elevated to to a whole 'nother level of music). I chuckled to myself and thought ,"oh yeah, he gets it." You got it in one. I'd love to see her in that club💕. It seems impossible to understand how Angelina can conceive and implement an interpretation such this, it's simply incredible. I imagine that one of the reasons for Angelina's fantastic uniqueness is given precisely by the eclectic nature of her musical inspirations as well as, of course, by her fantastic talent. She has absorbed, studied and reworked so many great singers that she has almost become a wonderful human synthesizer, also endowed with an extraordinary capacity for musical analysis ❤️❤️ In this sweet moment of play on the sofa, with the new mike, while she accentuates the exasperated use of her vocal frying and the ease with which she manages to use it, she is incredible. 😳

Great reaction Adam. Even when Angelina experiments (like here just sitting on the couch and turning up the 'vocal fry' to max) she still delivers world-class untouchable results. One of the of AJ's best cover. The emotional level is just over the top. I write this over and over again but I have to say it again. She uses her voice to interpret a song not to show off. She has the skills to do more fireworks but she doesn't. She always stay true to the song and it is always "tasteful" never "in your face". Someone in an other comment said it right. "Never arrogant, just authenticity. She is a true artist!

I agree with you completely. I love her stripped down versions the best.
