Would love to get them!! would you still use the grad set for a 4.3/4.6 marimba or only for 5 octaves? Im stuck between 2 pairs of AT3s and the grad set. Would be a great help if someone could give me some advice!
@austinpatrick26822 жыл бұрын
Before even watching the video I know they will be lightweight mallets so I doubt I will buy them but congrats buddy!! To further explain... I like my mallets as heavy as possible. I work with my hands all day as a plumber so my grip is overly strong and I find more weight to be easier to control and gives me a far wider range of dynamics as well as allowing me to use free-fall strokes (I honestly don't know if that's a real thing or something I've discovered on my own) when I play fast licks so that I can alternate the muscle groups I use even during the same run to reduce fatigue.
@AdamTanPercussion2 жыл бұрын
Haha nah they're not light weight, they're on the heavy side :)
@austinpatrick26822 жыл бұрын
@@AdamTanPercussion I might just have to try them anyway lol. Check out my edited comment. ☝️ BTW, I challenge you to spend a week solid if you haven't before using the heaviest mallets you own and forcing yourself to make great music with them. It's the only way for me, lightweights may as well be toothpicks in my hands.
@AdamTanPercussion2 жыл бұрын

@austinpatrick26822 жыл бұрын
@@AdamTanPercussion maybe I've not watched enough of your videos after all??? I thought you were almost entirely a feather mallet guy lol
@austinpatrick26822 жыл бұрын
When I first got my own marimba last fall I bought those $17 mallets you featured here. They are a great value but dang they are feathers. And I played with them for several months untill my arms developed severe pain every time I played. I then realized it could be the weight of the mallets. I bought some heavier mallets and everything was fixed instantly, the warmth of my marimba improved ten times over, and the pain was gone. I believe I was using muscles on every stroke to force the mallet down and up with no use of momentum at all and that was destroying my arms with the lighter mallets.
@myotiswii2 жыл бұрын
He just put a sponsor in a video that is about selling mallets. Not that it is bad, just odd
