What is Fresh Pet Dog food?

I feed the small dog formula to my Chihuahua. It costs me a little more than $5 a week for it. She's old and picky. It's nice because it does not smell bad (it has a slight smell of liver, but it doesn't stink like canned food) and she eats it enthusiastically. If you have ever owned a chihuahua you'll know that getting them to eat is an issue. I also feed it to my cats. Both my cats and dog get kibble as well.

I use this to feed 3 dogs: 25lb, 13lb, & 7lb. I buy the basic formula from target. It’s about $14 bucks a roll. I’ll dice it or mash it with a fork (or my hands). I feed them twice a day and sometimes mix with Diamond Naturals or Nutros kibble. It lasts me about a 1-1.5 weeks, longer if I mix with kibble. They love it and I appreciate that I can switch up the texture: ground/mashed, chunks, or diced.

Dry food cooks most of the nutrients out of it. Freshpet has all the protein and vegetables in it. Pricey maybe but ur dog or cat will love u for it.

I use this to reward my mini poodle training for nosework. I need a crazy high value but balanced reward and she says this is it. I slice it into small pieces. It’s a great consistency for rewarding. 😊. She prefers this to dehydrated raw.

Our dog has hated EVERY dog food we have offered her for the past 2 years. So feeding times had become miserable for all of us. I do find their wet kibble style cat food to be less expensive than canned cat food but their pate varieties have carrageenan which a lot of people are concerned may lead to inflammation and cancer. Their wet kibble style does not have carrageenan. Also FreshPet does not provide as much variety for cats. I sometimes do feed their wet kibble.

There’s a difference between food-grade carrageenan (un-degraded) that’s FDA approved as a food additive, and carrageenan that has been classified as a possible human carcinogen (degraded). The people that have concerns over carrageenan leading to inflammation or cancer should really do their research. Thoroughly.

I think it cost me around 90 dollars to feed my golden retriever Freshpet. i Mix Freshpet with half a cup of Fromm 5 star dry dog food, to give it a nice crunchy texture for him also. My dog feels so good after a meal he can hardly contain his energy, he will tear it up at the dog park playing water swim fetch.

Well after reading these comments I definitely have spoiled my dog a lil too much to the point where he doesn’t like dog food wo crushed up treats…I know I fd up but he’s so cute how can I say no?….but I’m looking for something more dog friendly and less fattening than treats, can we mix this we his kibble? The protein content is actually good, more like 45% ?? probably for the dog food, by dry weight, which is how to rate these things. The protein level is deceptive because you are comparing dry to wet. I've fed the pellet style cat food (there is a similar dog food). I'd recommend the pellet, as the roll has cargeneen. My cat is very happy with the cat food. I have to rotate food with her. I don't feed this to the dog, I feed Honest Kitchen, pricey but more economical than the FreshPet.

I read that a scientists replicated the was older studies were done related to people and found those studies results flawed , he determined that carrageenan does not affect cell or the intestinal cells in humans .jury is still out that’s the problem. I got the turkey just for awhile because my pup went into her first heat and started turning her nose up at the kibble. I mixed this in and she licked the bowl clean. I don’t plan to rebuy so I hope she will eat the kibble after or I’ll try another topper to avoid this ingredient.

@@1904.Lowridaz No, my mom wanted him to loose weight and he had it for 6 months. He was fine and addicted to the food until around the middle of July he was not himself then the week before his death, he wouldn't eat and walk. I kept telling my mom to stop buying that food and have him be checked out at the vet. My mom said that she couldn't afford to go to the vet and thought he had an ear infection. But on the 28th of July, I was sleeping until I heard my mom's boyfriend crying historically. I saw my mom holding him and his eyes were open with his tongue sticking out. Before for that I thought I heard a yelp like he's trying to say goodbye to me for the last time but it was too late. I feel guilty of not waking up because I was worried at that night before. A couple days later, he was cremated and now I see his box everyday. I can't believe that the Freashpet company are still getting away with lying about the ingredients. Dogs are not supposed to have a huge amount of vitamin D. Also they have mold in their food from freezing them then pre freeze them again. I hope someday someone will sue the company. If only my family's dog didn't eat that stuff, he would be here today. He was 6 last year.
