You also forgot the overly glorified dress-up game that we call fashion frame, actual player housing with decorating features and a clan system that isn't just a screen, with a dojo and in depth customization/decoration, which there are actual official contests for. And then there's the dating sim as well, yes you read that right we do get freaky in this game, hella freaky actually. And outside of the game itself there's dev-streams (huge spoiler warning for those tho!!!) where they play with the community, talk about new content and show just how beautifully unhinged they are. There's a yearly convention as well with a cosplay contest, charity, give aways, a showcase of the bigger future updates, live performance of ingame music and much more! Also the skins and decorations that actually cost money are Tennogen which is a project where they put skins designed by community members in the game and the creators get a cut from for every sale! So as an artist myself I'm more than willing to spend my entire pay check on that stuff.
@Nanoqtran12 күн бұрын
One reason warframe gets so many return players is because of the trust the company has built. Unlike other games that nickle and dime you warframe sits back and lets you move ar your own speed. They avoid many of the pain points of other games like fomo and loot boxes. Because they build the trust first it lets the community overlook things like build timers and bugs. We could really use more companies that act like them.
@Adamzz12 күн бұрын
You can say that again! Nice to see there are still Developers that care about their communities and put love and care into their product!
@thegrouchization11 күн бұрын
@ I recommend checking out their streams. Prime Time is focused on playing and interacting with the community, as well as showcasing stuff like fanart. Devshorts are weekly 15 minute streams where the Rebecca Ford (Warframe's Creative Director) and Steve Sinclair (Digital Extremes' CEO) sit down, go over news, read out questions from chat, and just generally hang out. And finally there are Devstreams, which are monthly shows where they show off upcoming stuff and WIP assets.

@ To put it into a more tangible perspective, you've probably just about finished arc 1 of the story (awakening). Arc 2 is what many people consider the end of the tutorial and it starts at around neptune and pretty much ends with the last planets. After that, you've still got arc 3 and arc 4 which is currently still in progress left to experience. So yeah, arc 1 is pretty underwhelming compared to the rest of the game but the hidden benefit in that is that whoever likes the game enough to keep playing in arc 1, creams their pants later.

I know they're looking more into the crafting time of warframes, one of the new warframes, Koumei, can be unlocked on Earth (if you go to Cetus and do the Saya's Visions shrine defense mission you can get her parts) and she has a 24 hour build time so you can get her pretty quickly as a new player! They have talked about potentially working more on the build times for warframes, but there were no specific promises. I think they should make early game warframes have a shorter crafting time, and then the later warframes stay as a 3 day craft time. Or have your first 2-3 Warframes have a short crafting time, which would make it more new player friendly. At least with the craft times, you can still always progress, and like you were saying, it's not much of an issue later in the game as you will always be crafting new things. But I think it's cool that they're experimenting with making building times better when most companies wouldn't even bother! They have been working more and more towards making the beginning of the game easier to navigate, but I think the fun is also figuring it out for yourself. I think they just need to add a bit more for new players (especially in terms of the modding system) and it can make it a lot easier for new players to stick around. Overall great video!
@Adamzz12 күн бұрын
I agree, having to wait 3 days for your first frame to craft is kinda annoying, think they could reduce the time maybe for you first 1 or 2 frames just so you can try something new. I’ve definitely seen a lot of people saying that they are working on making it easier and more welcoming for new players which is cool to see. I *love* seeing these videos haha I have nearing 2k hours in Warframe. This game has a very passionate community for a reason - it is a game like no other. There’s so much to do, and the love that was put into this game can be felt. On their YT channel, PlayWarframe, they do regular streams where they actively interact with the players, they tell us what’s in the works, they’re transparent and honest, and they just act *human*. The more time you spend playing, the more you get involved, the more you find out why the community is so, so passionate. Keep at it - your mind is going to be blown so many times from here. There’s an actual, real story. As a side note, I absolutely love how many of these videos reference the Fortuna cutscene as the moment they understood haha. But, it really is true. That cutscene right there is when you *understand*. This isn’t shovelware slop, this isn’t a cash grab - this game is a *story*, it’s a labor of love. And Fortuna is only the beginning :) Good luck Tenno, and welcome to our community ❤️

Something important to note about the premium currency (platinum): It is tradeable. And that means it is farmable. Grind yourself some void relics (another thing the game doesn't tell you about) and if you can get a complete set of something you're usually looking at 50+ plat depending on what it is. As a result even plat stuff is technically obtainable free to play. The only things that aren't are prime access accessories and tennogen cosmetics, which skip plat entirely and have prices in dollars

So they have been discussing on various locations (DevShorts, DevStreams, X, etc.) reducing build times, especially for the Frames. They make most of their money through the cosmetics, Primes, and slots for weapons/frames; the wait times are usually just a meme for most people, cause there is so much to do the later you get that you often forget that you were waiting for something, and suddenly you go to build something and there's 5 weapons just waiting for you to collect them. If there is something you don't understand you can ask the QA channel in game and usually someone will respond in seconds. Some of us play with the wiki on our second screen just so we can help faster, and we can explain it like a person. I've been a fan of Warframe for 11 years, and since then I've held Warframes monetization as the Gold Standard, especially for their community creators. Something I noticed you didn't mention (and probably didn't realize since its not explicitly said), some of the cosmetics are actually created by the community themselves and when purchased the creators actually receive 30% of the revenue. These cosmetics are known as TennoGen and are a great way to support DE and a fellow Tenno. Any how, i'm glad you're enjoying yourself and hope you keep at it. You've only just started, things get so much better the further you go. Good luck and Good loot.

It's the only game I know of that are able to do this for players, I'm sure there are others. But if you know Blender or Maya and have a creative mind, tennogen is a cool way to make money.

All the timegates are an early game issue, like you said. People rarely use the rush function. That being said Digital Extremes is looking into shortening the crafting times of items, probably geared toward early game items. The warframe Kumei was a test run of that direction. Plus many of the main path progress rewards that were originally blueprints requiring you to build and therefore wait have been replaced with prebuilt items that you can use straight away. In the same vein of removing progress blockers DE just increased the amount of warframe and weapon slots an account initially has, and being the MVPs they are they gave the same amount of slots to all old accounts as well. Over all the developers are constantly extending a hand to the players in various ways, which is why Warframe is so beloved by the playerbase.
@Adamzz12 күн бұрын
Honestly I just thought that was how they would make a lot of their money seeing as time gates (especially early on) can be kinda annoying but 100% the more you play the time gates seem to not be so obnoxious as you just naturally unlock more items to rank up and the devs for the game are awesome. Nice to see there are still game devs out there that care about their game’s community
@wolfewalker11689 күн бұрын
11:58 They actually changed the MR time gating with 1999, you can try as many times as you want to complete the test whenever you want after you unlock the test, rather than making you wait 24hrs. They discussed it in the DevStream before 1999 came out because that was a main complaint. Edit: You can also do Practice mode on the tests as many times as you want so you can see what its about and then go into the real test to rank up when you're confident

Your research into why Warframe and Dark Sector are similar is actually a bit backwards. Warframe was not inspired by Dark Sector, but rather Dark Sector was what they made when they wanted to make Warframe and publishers/investors told them it wouldn't work and refused to fund the game unless they changed it. This is also why the Warframes are also called Tenno, and why some proto skins look like Dark Sector equipment and claim to be "the original from the early days."

I love this video because there are a bunch of streamers out there that start the game and almost immediately get a power boost because their viewers want them to try their favorite frame. And the streamer just sees "ooh, free stuff! Thanks chat, your awesome!" Which is fine. And it's honestly a good representation of Warframe's community! But it gives a false narrative on what Warframe's new player experience is for non streamers. This is a much needed video to give newcomers a realistic way of experiencing Warframe. But! To all baby tenno joining for the first time please make use of the in game chats! If you say that you are new and need help figuring out what to do next I guarantee there will be at least one veteran in that chat willing to help you out.

@tonyolmstead828212 күн бұрын
Yeah, that’s the one thing I think DE really needs to push front and center more for the new player experience: “Tenno, do this thing, check the codex for instructions.” Teach them that loop a few times and then people will get into the habit of “oh, I don’t know this thing, I’ll check the codex.” That would solve 99% of the confusion imo

@tobebabs9037 I had a veteran player get me into the game, but he wasn't there all the time. The thing I think he was referring to is that there is so much to attain at first, and it can get confusing and almost overwhelming. Like, do I run the star chart or go run bounties or do quests? What should I do first? The veteran didn't really tell me what was most important.

The game really should be more friendly to new players. It has improved compared to past years, but there is still a lot to improve. To make your life in the game even better, I'd love to give you two tips: 1) Always build the item FORMA whenever you have a blueprint for it. It is a resource you are going to use a lot. You can read the tutorial in the MODS machine to understand exactly why. 2) SPECTERS: You can have your own NPC squad in almost every mission, and they help A LOT. -As a reward for rescue missions, you gain a specter blueprint. When you build it, it creates a clone of your current warframe and weapons, which you can use as support in missions. -The same goes for Clem, a little Grineer who, after you unlock his weekly mission, gives you his specter blueprint as a reward for the same purpose. -AND if you look at the left side of your ship, you'll see the Syndicate menu. You can ally with three of them, and each one offers a different type of specter (already built) with special skills for purchase. You can have one of each type at the same time in a mission if you want. They help a lot in difficult missions. That's it! Have a nice game, Tenno!

The lore of the game is great, if you´re interested definitely look at a video. For Deimos it´s pretty simple; The Infestation you fight had free time to build it´s own eco-system on Deimos, but while all infestation has the universal mission to spread and convert physically, technically, or Religiously on Deimos there is some sort of seperation. Otherwise; I don´t think any consistent players use the Rush feature. I play the game for about 5k Hours, and i rushed about 2 items. And that was done with platinum i gained by trading, and you really don´t notice the wait for Weapons when it´s done after one night of sleep. It´s a reason to just do something else. I wish they´d change the system still, instead of the straight Plat-rush have the player feed resources into the blueprint to boost it. Some frames, like Gara or Garuda are un-obtainable for a new player, having the option to just start the Blueprint and wait, but grind and spent resources on it to gain instant access. And for the modding? Idk i feel like we are just all stupid. OFC DE should FINALLY AFTER 11 YEARS give you a propper introduction into modding, but there is a Tutorial in the bottom corner giving you the sauce. But nobody uses that. Like the ingame thing is there, the BP´s tell you where to get parts and resources, the Mod menu has the tutorial in the bottom, the codex has guides for combat and missions, but we all go read the wiki instead of looking at the ui propperly.
@elseggs650412 күн бұрын

To be fair, while you were talking about lack of direction there is literally text at the top right that suggests your next move, so this isn't entirely fair. You learn that blinky nodes are missions you have not done, you learn that the codex has quests and the quest tells you how to unlock it, and junctions teach you additional things in order to progress. I understand that people sometimes still get confused but if you actually read you shouldn't be too confused. 13:30 Pretty sure you are required to rank up a mod to complete one of the junctions so this isn't true, you probably just forgot lol.

Just spamming my build timer suggestion everywhere until DE notices - add a consumable that rushes warframe builds, and give it as an early junction reward (and maybe a sortie reward?). Building your second frame, 3 days is ridiculous. Once you get into the midgame, the content becomes so wide that waiting isn't a big deal. You're going to get smothered with advice, so I'lll keep it simple, because it looks like you're on the right track anyway. 1. There are lots of forms of progression in Warframe. As a new player, focus on quests, startchart, nightwave where you can, and getting your mastery rank into the low teens. Don't worry too much about building a big arsenal, open world progress, syndicate standing, or using forma to create a really tricked out build. 2. There are lots of systems to optimize in Warframe. As a new player, focus on modding. As you said, that's where all your power comes from. The story quests will provide you with gear that's powerful enough to cover you, but it won't mod it for you. modding crash course: it's usually better to lean into a weapon's strengths than it is to round out its weaknesses. Multishot is really good, so is attack speed. With the caveat that you don't really need to understand all of this to clear the story, generally speaking, you want to mod a weapon for one of the following ideas (very rough) 1. Critical damage. Give a weapon a high damage (elemental mods help here), high critical chance, and high critical multiplier. It will deal a lot of damage 2. Damage status. Give a weapon a high status chance, and give it a lot of damage with the type Heat (single target DoT, best with high fire rate), electricity (AoE + stun), Toxin (Single target DoT that skips shields), Gas (heat + toxin, AoE), or blast (heat + cold, AoE). When you deal damage, you have a chance to apply those statuses. 3. Utility status. Give a weapon a high status chance and give it damage with the type Cold (freeze enemies in place), Magnetic (cold + electric, shields take bonus damage), Viral (cold + toxin, health takes bonus damage), Radiation (heat + electricity, enemies attack each other), or Corrosive (electricity + toxin, armor is reduced). Use that weapon to add some of these statuses to an enemy, and then use another weapon to deal lots of damage. These status types don't scale off of how much damage you do with the weapon applying them, so this is great for secondary weapons.

Hey, Adamzz, I want to make a quick mention of something I've seen happening in the past. The fortuna intro music is pretty well guarded (copy rights), and I've seen other videos get taken down due to it (they did get re-uploaded after some time, without the music, but still). I would not like to see you get a strike because of this. Also, the foundry system is not much of a problem later in the game, at some point you just have weapons/frames waiting to be grinded. Mastery rank grinds to a halt because you need quite a lot of experience for the next level. About the MR test, it is possible to practice for it without doing the test, and failing it won't cost you 24h of time.
@Adamzz9 күн бұрын

Ordinary literally tells you to mod in the beginning, and if your equipping mods, you don't explore the menu, buttons, available, I don't feel like you can blame the game for it. Warframe doesn't spell it out for you, but I remember when I started the game, and they point you to all the systems, and basically say explore this thing! I do have to look things up once in while, but it was never anything to do with the systems. You just click things and read what it says. I watched aztecross speed through this section, and get completely lost before his chat explained it. Slow down, look at all the menus, and don't be afraid to try things. THE ONLY WARNING I HAVE IS TO NEVER SELL STORY ITEMS. I HAVE A RULE THAT IF GOTTEN FROM QUEST, IT STAYS IN INVENTORY FOREVER. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU WILL NEED A WEAPON OR BLUEPRINT AGAIN IN THE FUTURE.
